How about you go to the top of the thread and read what the OP (not me or someone like me) said: Here’s a clue: “The number of unlawful crossings by migrants at the US southern border has decreased for the fifth consecutive month, according to official data.” On the other hand I did say: Border crossings are down, Trump, his supporters and those who pretend not to be his supporters are not happy.

Forgive me for responding to your post. When did I claim have any expertise in this matter. My opinion is, Trump scuppered the bipartisan border legislation in order to deny President Biden a win and maintain the border as a political issue for the election. Border crossings are down, Trump, his supporters and those who pretend not to be his supporters are not happy. Oh and there is clear blue sky between the Democrats and the Republicans, there is no equivalence between the two.

Well you do raise a point. Where’s the customary rightwing ranting against rioters covering their faces with masks? Or indeed the anger at rioters who attack police officers, let alone damage property and attack innocent people? It’s all gone very quiet on the rightwing on these usual triggers to their outrage.

Normal people don’t riot, attack entirely innocent communities, attack the police and spew hate on the basis of stuff fed to them on the internet. A few thousand right wing thugs taking part in coordinated riots across the country is something the police and courts can and will deal with. ‘Normal people’ will support the police and courts in doing just that.

I find the present-day culture an affront to good taste. Let me clarify that for you, you find these things an affront to your own idea of what constitutes ‘good taste’. Our cultural roots are not eroding, they are continually evolving, just like they always have. They are the product of millennia of culture mingling, something that should not need explaining to anyone who claims to know anything about the culture of art and music.

So no blues, jazz, rock n roll, gospel/spiritual, soul, funk, Motown, R&B, ragtime, disco…. Just the Bach you probably never listen to, Van Gogh you have probably never seen and impressionists/post impressionist you probably can’t distinguish. Feigning cultural tastes while dismissing the culture that has been the major source of musical creativity and development for well over a century.
