  1. There is absolutely no need for posts like this, and frankly it's ignorant anyway for a number of reasons

I don't personally believe that fake bank accounts are the issue (which constitute criminal offences by the way so can be dealt with more seriously than they are now). The issue is more likely something more to do with other policy decisions being taken behind the scenes by Thai immigration as many, including myself, have posted or speculated about.

Equally, if you read the threads, it is clear (or unclear) that the actual requirements from Immigration are yet to be clarified. There is for example a world of difference between a requirement to prove you have funds of 65k a month in your home country and 65K a month actually in Thailand. Likewise, is that an average figure over 12 months or a requirement to have at least that transferred every month? Will funds into a foreign currency account be accepted? Will a letter from the bank be required? etc etc. If immigration want to change the goalposts, OK, but they need to give time for people to adjust (e.g. more than 3 months notice to arrange 800K transfer) and clarity regarding their actual requirements

Clearly the UK Embassy, Thai Immigration or both don’t “give a stuff” that this could cause huge problems for people who have lived in the country for a long time and established . Now it’s two months notice of a huge change ! It’s all about sending a message .... we don’t really want you !

  2. They are worse than that, they are useless, incompetent, ineffective morons.  Well done the Brits, thanks for your support for your Citizens. So now we have to deposit our hard earned money into an incompetent Thai banking system, aided by our own Embassy.  I am beyone angry

Absolutely! A simple process of verifying a pension from the UK! British Consulate and Embassy services do the tiniest amount of work for British Citizens in Thailand ! In fact the only reason for being here is for image and nice photographs and the pretense of creating good relations and business!

  3. That's a new one.   I'll be wary of that in the future. Had many places where the card don't work because of muck in the card reader and they can't be bothered to clean it with an appropriate wipe, but not heard, until now, that they have obsolete card readers.

Yes, I was told that some card readers can’t read new cards! This happened to me in a Big C this week!

  4. I had a new K bank debit card and discovered I couldn’t use it at many checkouts in supermarkets and stores ! When I raised this with the bank I was told that many retail stores don’t have the updated technology to accept transactions with the new cards! Hmm , so introduce a new card that can’t be used in many shops. Nothing surprises me in this country !

  5. Its called economics and living within your means. At 16 years old I could only afford a bedsit and walked almost everywhere, to work, shops etc until i could get a motorbike. Bought what I could afford as no credit available then. Living on 30k with 3 kids I know it can be done and be done comfortably albeit I own my property so no rent. She probably has a 25-30k mobile phone and buys designer brands. Food is so cheap and healthy here. In all honesty, she dosnt realise how easy she has it....fuel...so she has transport...Father, shes only young why cant he work...other kids in family...let the parents pay. No one to blame except herself and other family members living out of their means

What nonsense ! If you knew anything about Thailand you would know that the country does nothing to encourage graduates to be teachers ! And Therein lies it’s Demise!

  6. Shenanigans Pub corner Patpong and Suriwong.  Let's hope, if the manager is reading this, that they consider having a different promotion cheaper beer every day of the week until closing hours like The Pintsman was doing and an extension of the Happy Hour to 8 PM..

Then I am happy as I can drink every day at affordable price... and remain happy until closing time.

    Happy hour is too early

  7. You can get many poor quality batteries from outlets mentioned on here, half the price or less! Don’t , I can talk from experience ! The old saying “ you get what you pay for “

Buy original from Singapore or be sure the franchises in Bangkok gets it from there!
