  1. Apple will be a pioneer in Thailand for customer service. I'm assuming of course Apple will retain its worldwide standards.

That means Apple staff serving the public will need impeccable English, exhaustive product knowledge and excellent interpersonal skills.

I have no doubt that Thais are capable of meeting these standards given proper training and decent employment packages.

It will make a change from the almost non existent language skills and current ineptitude not to mention the surly indifference (if an early sale is not registered). Prancing around and fluttering eyes are not really a substitute for Apple like service skills.

    Fingers crossed then.

I’m afraid the only Thais who are going to meet the standards required are those who have experienced the higher customer service standards outside their own country and are prepared to match them !

  2.

    Nonsense.

The move was prompted by Thai Immigration’s demand for “verification” vs “certification”.

Even the British embassy would not decline 52 Quid, for doing bugger-all, on “cost cutting “ grounds.

Nonsense ! If they weren’t verifying correctly before they could introduce a system that did so ! So it’s about saving money or not spending money !

  3. That's a new crisis in making....

What will happen if they can't pay for their houseloans any more? The banks will start falling, good that they get so many Brits with 800k on the bank.[emoji16]

Strange that the baht can be so strong with this sword above the market.

Ah you’ve worked it out! Scrapping monthly pension income and demanding 800k in bank has an ulterior motive ! Just remember your legal protection for that money is “zilch”

  4. Disgraceful answer from supposedly British Embassy. I pay over £2,000 a year in UK taxes to the UK Government and my pension income is supported by P60's which are officially recognised by the UK Government. I would have extreme difficulty getting permission for my wife to live in the UK but the Embassy says no problem put the best part of £20,000 in a bank account in Thailand for 3 months and you will be able to stay there with no problems. Hopefully some solution will be found without having to resort to brown envelopes!

I can understand the anger! If the UK Embassy is doing this under pressure from Thai Immigration, let’s hear about that! Or is it just cutbacks and not wanting to do anything for UK taxpaying expats ?

  5. If I'm not mistaken these new regulations make your Thai bankbook the primary document. No 800K, 3 months before extension application.....no visa extension. If you go the 65K per month route , the bottom lime is you'll need to show 800k , 3months before.
Isn't it as simple as that?
Doesn't this make all this discussion of income letters etc totally immaterial.

Clearly u don’t understand ! Someone can have 65k a month of soon and not have or want 800k in a thai bank and get retirement extension
