Doesn't surprise me in the least. After I married my Thai wife 15 yrs ago I decided to make Thailand my home based upon that I enjoy living here and that I like Thais. What surprises me is (judging by the comments on TVF) there are many who obviously find Thai people and Thailand substandard to foreigners -  yet continue to be here. If I felt the same way as the people on this forum express themselves, I would of been gone a long time ago.

Has anyway used an extension of stay Retirement visa to open a bank account in Bangkok, other than Bangkok bank ? Having difficulty in central Bangkok area as they all require work permits !

Atm kept my Bangkok bank visa debit card and guess what .. they don’t open the machine to recover and replaced with Unionpay. So now can’t buy online PayPal etc ! Cannot use in many shops to pay ... this is Bangkok!! The bank that’s named after after city, cannot use the card ! Eg true shops don’t accept and many others ! Like me I hope many Non Chinese customers close their accounts, because clearly they’re not interested
