I don't know what international standards they refer to here... But I've never (ever) had to take a test for a DL renewal (just the initial application for endorsement). I guess I'll see what comes of this when I renew in 2029. But if it's a English tested written by a Thai is likely going to be a really horrible test.

Get a O-A in your home country. Not sure why you can't understand that. Why should Thailand make your life easier. Get use to it.

How would you know? And sure, tourist are a boost. But they don't need bank accounts to be so. Just look at all the places with more tourist than Thailand (France, Spain, Turkey, etc). Not every tourist needs a bank account. Stop it.

Because Thailand has failed. Failed to stop what should have never been started.

Anyone can be a mule if the person allows it, or falls for the scam. But there are other risk too... Money laundering. Hiding assets. Illicit money movement. Unofficial remittances. All valid risk to any county's financial system. And those are just a few of the reasons/risk not to let every random tourist open accounts. Why does a tourist need a bank account anyway? Tourists can manage money without needing a local bank account. Most tourist financial needs can already be met with existing tools.

Thailand has always been easy entry... Smugglers and thieves know this. Thailand flinging open the gates even more only attracts more rift raft... So it's graft exasperated by giving bank accounts to people on tourist visas or glorified tourist visas (DTV).

Too bad they couldn't stop the Romanian (who served a 15 prison sentence in his own country) from then entering and eventually decapitating his Thai gf in Pattaya. Now he's in the wind. Border is a sieve, and immigration rules a joke. Everyone knows Thailand is easy entry. The land of smugglers and thieves.

Mom didn't really know her daughter that well. Not unusual. However, the daughter almost certainly knew what she was doing. The fact she died in Thailand is merely incidental.

Thailand has lost control of it's immigration and they are just now starting to figure it out.
