Travel Rising Prices, Broken Systems Dim Thailand’s Tourist Charm
Cabradelmar replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Good. Don't come. Mass tourism sucks. Go wherever it is you think is better. The only legit complaint is higher prices, really. But that's happening everywhere (to one degree or another). And if you can't figure out entry requirements (visas, VOA, VER) and entry forms (TDAC), maybe you shouldn't travel. Everything else in this article is just the same recycled blather... Duel pricing, cleanliness (which Thailand never was nor will be), infrastructure (which has always been substandard by western stds.), and fear of cannabis (which is just boomers and their reefer madness nonsense). -

Travel Thailand Tightens Airport Rules on Liquids and Gels to Boost Safety
Cabradelmar replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration on Wednesday upgraded Thailand's air safety rating to "Category 1" a decade after a downgrade, paving the way for direct U.S.-Thailand flights to resume... this is all part of the agreement.- 111 replies

Here is a controversial idea... make missed 90 reporting an offense on par with overstay, then make presenting the TM47 receipt AND passport mandatory (pdf and photos acceptable) for all sorts of mundane reasons (checking into a hotel, requesting bank services, obtaining a SIM card, booking tickets, boarding planes/trains/ferries, etc.) -- no more using Thai DL... watch the number of overstays decrease significantly.

Transport Driving Licence Renewals Go Digital: No More Tests Needed
Cabradelmar replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Good, if it works for all (including foreigners). Sadly, Thailand and technology have typically had a rocky relationship. I for one have done 2 renewals and never taken a written test (just the physical test, and watched videos). But would welcome not having to go to DLT at all. -
Applaud the sentiment but it's not going to fix anything. Unless of course they eliminate VER (visa exempt rules) entirely (which is a bridge too far; will never get there). Cuz people will just overstay the visa they do get... Overstayers, overstay, it's what they do. Could try electronic ankle bracelets 😂

British Man's Urgent Plea to Save Dying Father in Thailand
Cabradelmar replied to snoop1130's topic in Pattaya News
Yet, Thailand has everyone conned that their medical capabilities are 1st class (hub of medical tourism). Can't have it both ways. If a Thai who relo to UK wants to brings his Thai dad to UK for treatment, that's a testament to Thai medical capabilities. Then again if it's not plastic surgery, maybe Thai medical capabilities really are not all that. Else, this is just a halfbaked sob story. -

Thailand's Global Education Ranking Sparks Controversy and Scrutiny
Cabradelmar replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
This country is so trapped by myths and superstition that it's no wonder their education system gets poor grades. Not to mention they allow anyone to drop out after grade 9. And nothing will change as long as the people in charge first reaction is to question the survey methodology (stop blaming the messenger). This is not the first, nor will it be the last, time the education system in this country has been criticized. Wake up or stay dumb it seems. You want to solve... Make education free for all through grade 12, build better schools, hire better teachers (and stop blindly praising them just because they are teachers - most are mediocre at best), and use better text books. -
