  1. Getting a visa shouldn't be easy as pie. It should require effort and diligence. It's only a problem if valid applications get denied. And just because you are denied doesn't mean your request was valid to begin with.
  2. Ah, yes, the missing entertainment element... Hookers, gangsters/mafia, ganja, alcohol, and now guns 😂 Pattaya's devolution is complete 💯
  3. Seems like just about anyone (45 yo, unmarried /single) could go silent for 4 or 5 days and it wouldn't be alarming. Not sure this is all that suspicious
  4. Thanks. Hadn't noticed. Last time I took a flight out of Thailand was in July.
  5. Too easy. Prison in Thailand on fraid changes would be more appropriate. Tack on the lifetime ban after their prison term.
  6. Doubtful this gets done by November 1 seeing as it's already October 29. I'll be shocked if any of this reported change happens as described in the article.
  7. I smell a coup d'etat brewing 🙏
  8. Yeah. 100 to 1 foreigner to Thai ratio isn't enough 😂 least authentic Thai experience in the entire country.
  9. Jealousy is a national pastime in Thailand
  10. He doesn't know. Low level local official talking like he rules the kingdom 😂
  11. As it where... Thailand (in 2017) lowered the mandatory retirement age for certain groups of civil servants from 65 to 60. This change was largely a result of the government trying to create job opportunities for younger people.
  12. Has any country ever lowered it's retirement age in the last decade? Underfunded social programs are increasingly the norm. Raising the age seems almost expected.
  13. Thai spicy ain't not joke. Silly doctor, just because you can't take it don't means others can't. Go home.
  14. 😂 Thailand again threatens to implement technology to ease the experience... What could go wrong 😂
  15. Nah... There is too much money in it for Thais and it feeds the corruption that keeps so many Thai authorities happy. If they wanted it to stop they would have already.
  16. A truck throw a tread at highway speeds while on my motorcycle. That was scarry enough... but a whole tire. Could easily kill someone.
  17. It's about time more average Thais start realizing that the money offers from rich Thais to "get off" on offenses are a mere pittance. Need to start holding out for more or let the rich suffer the legal consequences.
  18. Looks like just about any evening, anywhere in Isaan.
  19. Good point. But if only 11% pay taxes, that's 89% that don't... And the majority of that 89% can't be because they don't make enought (are in poverty , etc.) to not have to file. Seems any way you cut it, a lot of Thais "get away with" not paying PI.
  20. I'd never seen those percentages before either... incredibly low compliance
  21. What's interesting about this, for me, is this is the first time I've ever seen a percent put on the size of the THA tax base. Only 30% of Thais pay PI taxes! That's wild. It's a small miracle THA can afford to pay for what infrastructure and government services they have now. Plus, given the number of government employees (including military and police), and the number of people in "above board" industries (like branded retail, large hotels education, healthcare and banking), that that 30% estimate is embarrassingly low, and a complete failure of the government's fiscal responsibility. And, it would seem that it's more than just those in the informal economy - e.g., farming, day laborers, street vendors, sole proprietorships, etc., who are not paying their PI taxes.
  22. So what? Could, should, would... Another example of pure speculation. If you are worried about this, I encourage you to hold your breath. And since expats aren't Thai citizens this NIT story is irrelevant. Next.
  23. easy choice as the form has no value
