  1. $596, including an overseas processing charge of $184. I understand it's the world's most expensive passport.
  2. The last time I renewed my passport in Thailand, it was with the Honorary Consul in Chiang Mai, Ronald Elliott. His mobile number is 091 857 6996. I don't know if he is still serving in that role.
  3. Imagine what happens when a nuclear reactor gets out of control. There's quite a few of them afloat and below water.
  4. What makes you think a tug would cost any more than the hundreds of bulk carriers criss-crossing the oceans every day?
  5. I do OK on a part Australian pension, plus investments. I am actually saving money living here. Australia is one of the few countries that produces clean food. At least I have a government that does not freeze pensions for the crime of living overseas.
  6. My mistake, your final update post did not mention it.
  7. A good result. A pity you got no monetary compensation; however, removing him from being a danger to the public is probably just as satisfying.
  8. How do you know you are not in mental decline yourself?
  9. Aircraft carriers don't use electricity for propulsion. The heat generated by nuclear fission is use to generate steam, which then goes to a steam turbine, converting thermal energy to kinetic energy. That's what turns the propellers. As far as risk goes, I'll take sitting on 275 tons of batteries over sitting on a nuclear reactor every time. So would most insurance companies.
  10. None. I only have debit cards. One with Kasikorn, two with an Australian bank. I have a deep aversion to any form of credit. It's why so many people are drowning in debt. Call me a dinosaur, at least I know I will die solvent.
  11. Nuclear powered. Have not heard of aircraft carriers using lithium batteries.
  12. More relevant than the UK, anyway. One of the world's biggest suppliers of minerals and natural gas. We can feed ourselves. You check the passports of everyone during Songkhran? FYI, I hole up in the village, so don't blame me.
  13. Tugs. The ferry distance between the two ports is 200 km maximum. Less than half the distance a Tesla or BYD can do on a single charge, and a catamaran hull to reduce drag. I guess there will always be people yearning for a horse and cart.
  14. Only the deserving.
  15. Well, the result is both Canada and Australia have elected left-wing governments. In Australia, conservatives aligned with Trump were annihilated. Australians don't like bullies, perhaps you enjoy being a doormat.
  16. The only insights you seem to post are abuse. Another rent-free head.
  17. There's a book by Geoffrey Jenkins called " A Ravel of Waters", published in 1981. It centres around a sailing ship called Jetwind, with fully-computerized sails.
  18. Quite dark. I am actually somewhat disappointed, like many authors Burke seems to have run out of inspiration, and is reduced to potboilers.
  19. IIRC the Bund was quite active in America from 1936 to 1941. Ironically, Joseph Kennedy was noted for his opposition to American involvement, and his anti-Semitism.
  20. There's not enough information. We need pictures.
  21. I am never sure whether his/her/its posts are interjections or ejaculations.
  22. LFP batteries do not have lead or zinc in their construction. Possibly you are thinking of non-rechargeable batteries.
  23. I'd say going by the responses on this thread, I am living rent-free in the heads of some posters.
  24. More than enough trolling on ASEAN without getting into the Trump sewer.
