The words above are from the OP.

    No mention of 'income method'

The thread is about extension based on retirement using 'money in bank method'

Especially not difficult to do if your not using income method.

My point which you did not follow is that there should be no requirement for a full 12 month statement at all, for any method.

  2. I simply despair at the utterly pathetic neediness of absurd calculations like this.

But of course it gives media outlets like you wonderful clickbait (it's utterly unbelievable, yet given headline prominence by a supposedly trustworthy webnews outlet: "we didn't say it, we're only reporting it (oh, in our daily major headlines)"

Can't you just make your headline stories stuff we need to see, and not jokes?

Why give such a totally absurd tale prominence in your 'headline stories'? Her, I guess you're desperate too....

If you have a smartphone, install the KBank app. From within that app you can produce a statement which will have your address and which will be emailed to whatever address you enter.

    1) Open the app.
    2) Tap on 'Banking' option shown at the bottom of the screen
    3) Tap on 'Statement' icon in the bottom row (of 2 rows).
    4) enter the desired E-mail address
    5) choose the Months you want covered by the statement
    6) Tap 'Submit Request'

The requested statement will be e-mailed to you. The PDF file is password protected but KBank will tell you what the password is.

    Happy tapping!

Thai food has never been tasty without the poison sauces they put inside.

Try to cook without and you will know how ridiculous is this food.

But do not ask foreigners who perfectly know nothing as on most topics.

Both of you clearly don't know your taste buds start to fail as you age. Just dump a load of salt on and stop moaning. Foreigners who know nothing. Right....

Only the stupid would believe they can establish any comparison without a bench mark.

Fascino charges 2 baht a tablet and the hospital charges 1 baht a tablet, but according to you the hospital is overcharging foreigners with a dual pricing policy.

You are completely wrong about everything. You seem to believe that I have said that there is dual pricing in hospitals. You really need to check this thread and correct your ignorance.

What part of this sentence did you find difficult.

" If however as people claim the hospital charges double for falang then the real price would be 35 baht."

Obviously you  have convinced yourself that every hospital is charging double for foreigners, irrespective of the facts.

This is utter stupidity. I claimed nothing. Show me where I did? I asked you to confirm you had proof over dual pricing. And you started talking about Fascino. And I told you to STAY ON TOPIC.

    Tnxbye ????

Looks like you missed the point, I never suggested Fascino were dual pricing.

If Fascino were charging 100 baht and the hospital prices are about 70% of Fascino, the hospital price would be 70 baht. If however as people claim the hospital charges double for falang then the real price would be 35 baht.

So the question was, are Fascino ripping people off, meaning everyone, or not?

This thread is about dual pricing. Keep on topic.

You are quite right, nobody showed me their invoices.

When I started getting my hypertension tablets at the hospital the price was about two thirds that of Fascino with discount card. If the hospital is charging double, why no complaints about Fascino, or any other pharmacy?

Of course you  are perfectly free to  believe what you want.

As far as I have ever witnessed, Fascino run everything past their IR scanner at the till and the prices show on the till's screen. so I don't understand how that could give different prices for farang and Thai. But I'm not a retail expert.

With the eye surgery, the hospital was recommended by a family friend and several family friends have undergone the same treatment. I was offered a mono lens varying price from 6000 to 13,000 and chose the top price. One family friend had his operation at the same time as me and I noticed his lens was in a different box. When we saw him at the checkup turned out that he had it done under the social and nobody had told him he had the option of paying the difference and ended up with the cheapest lens, bit annoyed to say the least.

The other 2 hospitals I use are local and used by family and friends, many have to pay and claim back and never slow to talk about it. Just a couple of weeks ago, friend of my wife was complaining about around 180K baht for a shoulder injury from coming off her bike.

Thanks. You still didn't say precisely that you saw exactly the same price being offered to farang and Thai for exactly the same product/service, but I'm not going to labour the point

I have to say I was a bit surprised at what was posted as I have never experienced any as you say "made up on the hoof". I have had elective procedures at 3 different government hospitals and every one had to be paid for in advance. The most recent was cataract surgery, second eye a year ago Dec. The invoice for each op was 3 full A4 pages, every last item listed and just the same price as Thais, couldn't be any more transparent.

Could I ask how you know the price was the same as that which Thais would have paid?

  11. Answer 3 gets a lot of support but it's stupid to say that an open ended cheque can be written for many millions of people. However the current arrangement is horribly inadequate even for now, long-term jobless restaurant/massage staff to live, let alone the very, very poor. And the 'handouts' reduce the individual's final retirement lumpsum anyway. The government should be truly ashamed.

Absolutely will not be accepted. And also can't be used in Thailand. So aside from meeting visa requirements as discussed below he needs to factor medical costs into his financial planning.

For the initial visa he can use a foreign (i.e. non-Thai) based insurance IF the insurer will sign the foreign insurance certificate shown on the tgia website

    http://www.longstay.tgia.org/

But for incountry extensions of stay he must have a policy from one of the 13 companies listed there. As long as he is under 75 and has no major pre existing conditions, fairly easy to purchase online. If over 75 impossible. If pre existing conditions like diabetes, heart disease etc may also be impissible but can try.

Unfortunately  these are poor value for the premium cost (compared to a good international expat policy) so in addition to one of these will still need to get "real" insurance.

What some people do is get the cheapest option for the visa (LMG with a 200k deductible so essentially mo real cover) and then separately take out a real policy. For the real policy needs at least 3 mill baht cover preferrably more but does not need outpatient. So quite diffetent from the 400/40k visa requirement.

Anither option is to come in visa exempt or on a tourist visa then change to a non-O visa in country. The O unlike the O-A carries no insurance requirement.

The comment about poor value is certainly not true. April Insurance via local partner LMG give very good value for far, far less premium than companies like AXA or BUPA or William Russell, and cover for millions of Baht basis inpatient only is very affordable. If you want to place a small deductible on the policy (say 30.000 Baht) it comes down even more.

Rather than ask on a forum why not talk to a good Hua Hin insurance broker and get several quotes from insurers asking different premiums, with you COMPARING THE ACTUAL COVER yourself?

Always give it a try , if not good use it for cooking or give it away. Nice Vodka also for only 260.-  named Bezo , Kulov vodka also nice and dirt cheap but a bit sweeter.

    Cheers.

I've bought two bottles. Will be giving it a bash this week. Thanks

Formerly married women are better, they are usually anxious to please, and determined not to spoil a second chance at security.

The problem with married women is their husbands might be bigger, stronger or more skilled. Not a good recipe for an intact skin.

The actual problem is the gun many of them keep. Applies to jealous exes also, so beware recent Thai divorcees.

I live in the sticks, 2 hours drive each way to and from immigration with hours at the office each time ... and my officer requires 3 visits for a marriage extension.
    • FIRST VISIT is to physically present oneself TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT. During that first visit documents are reviewed. (Even IF everything is in order, including bank certification and all photocopies, they will not be accepted.) Come back again when an appointment is granted on the officer's calendar. Get new bank certification, get new Kor Roh 2 marriage document within the date usable for the new appointment. (No, the IO will NOT answer their phone.)
    • SECOND TRIP go through each document again, a return trip set for 30 days later after the marriage documents are reviewed and returned. Ideally the second trip appointment is earlier than 30 days before the expiration of the prior extension. If not, the officer does provide a temporary extension to cover those 30 days. The first trip should be done BEFORE the 45 day window, but I've no knowledge of how long before would be agreeable for making the appointment. Catch-22 if I show up too early, I can hear the IO chastising me for my presumptuousness now.
    • THIRD TRIP to have the stamp added to your passport. DON'T attempt to arrive earlier than those 30 days, don't even attempt to arrive in the AM for a PM assigned appointment (my error last year.) This is all rather nerve racking because a traffic accident, illness, whatever... means your extension in your passport has expired.

PS My step daughter drives and my wife accompanies me on these annual episodes, so 3 days effort for each of us... to an office that still has a waiting room with the 90-day report line and other people making appointments.

    Utterly shocking.

Last night I was at a dinner at a friends house.

it was mostly couples, and a few single thai guys.

Everyone at the dinner was Thai except myself.

As the night grew on and the drinks got slung back , the topic of 'mia nois' came up.

It turns out that every single Thai guy at that table who was either in a relationship or was married had 'a bit on the side.'

Some had more than a bit on the side

and some were just downright greedy... ????

My wife then looked at me and said 'you dont, do you love?'

to which I replied 'of course not darling', but in a very sarcastic way.

I suppose what I want to know is if you are married, do you ever play away from home?

Considering the numbers last night and the open admitting in front of their wives, I would say that it is very common in Thailand for the man to fill his boots whenever he gets the chance.

And none of their wives seemed to give a monkeys.

To my mind, if the other person involved says its OK then more power to them I say..

and as for the demographic of the people at the dinner, all of them were well educated with good jobs and good social circles.

    What are your thoughts? ????

Thailand is stuffed full of women with kids whose husband just upped and walked out. Philippines is the same (just as an aside).

Without going into the male mentality here, I believe women may be putting up with a bad job by accepting that their husband screws other women, so long as he brings in money and comes home most nights. ????
