I believe that the UK is about 50% vaccinated.
more than 44 million have had at leaast one vaccine. But I think you are missing the point...

The real figures are much much higher... the UK with an almost fully vaccinated population just posted 20K+ infections in one day... and yet Thailands numbers only 5k a day... ????

this smacks of desperation by the govt. I think they know there is a lot worse to come so they either tell the migrants to leave or get locked inside their camps. I am really beginning to worry now about what comes next. We all saw what happened in India...

The way these migrant workers are treated is obscene, these people have built probably 80% of the major infrastructure in this country yet are cast aside like an old T shirt or broken toy when they become too much of a perceived problem.
We have a new road & drains being installed out by Mabprachan lake on the Darkside of Pattaya, 95% of the workforce are migrants.
Sometimes this country and the attitude of its people stinks, if it wasn't for migrants the Thais would still be living in tin shacks and riding buffalo on dirt roads.
so true.

Here's an idea.
If the govt are afraid that people with mild symptoms cannot be trusted to self isolate hence putting them all into hospitals/field hospitals - put those tracking devices to good use... tell people they must stay at home and if the device shows they did not adhere they get a massive fine! This is actually one instance where I would be completely okay with wearing one.... solves the issue!

If/when the rest of the world finds out how Thailand is really handling covid - no doubt will be placed on the red list. Then Phuket can kiss that imaginary 8.9 billion baht goodbye! This is only going to get worse... and worse. ????

this is Thai logic at its worst. People of course will be scared to take a test... especially the low paid immigrants... they know they will be forced into an open football field with a bucket and tarpaulin cover for comfort, in 30 degrees plus heat (if they test positive).
Hospitals now stopping testing because they have run out of beds and so turning away people with/without covid.
People with symptoms but no history of attending high risk areas told to pay 2000 baht for a test... so some will take the test, others will not.
It's like this govt are doing their very best to screw this up. Surely you must get to a point where you see that current policy is actually counter-productive and a change in policy required... but no.
I am really beginning to fear for Thailand. This govt will run it into the ground. ????

I see it says 20 million doses here. In another thread it mentions 30 million.
I guess it’s not much difference?
Why don't we read between the lines, take into account past pledges and performances and round this number down to a nice big fat 0.

He was doing slightly more than that! Money laundering and organized crime, I believe.
pretty sure he wasn't. There was a campaign back in Holland to get him freed. He has been given an apology and substantial compensation by the Dutch govt. Apparently, some Dutch official caused the whole thing by making enquiries with Thai authorities about his whereabouts in connection with financial irregularities (which turned out to be false).
But once Thai officials found out he had been selling weed legally in licensed cafes in Holland they arrested him. In court the prosecutors even said they were not sure what the charges were for but they couldn't accept that this Dutch guy was spending money made from weed. So they threw him in jail and took his millions. It was an absolute disgrace. Where did you get the stuff about organized crime and laundering from?

still... everytime I see anything to do with cannabis in this country it makes my blood boil. I think back to that poor Dutch guy who had his life wrecked by the Thai officials who plundered his wealth (and threw him in jail for many years) for themselves under the guise of Thai law.... and that guy had been legally selling cannabis in Holland!!! And now its all smiles and pics with marajuana plants.... the hipocracy and corruption is defo getting worse here.

I would defo buy new locally. I went to Central westgate and got mine - there was a big range to choose from the many IT stores there and prices starting from as little as 10k from memory. They also brought me to a shop that loaded all the apps on that I needed for my work and when I had a problem (virus) they sorted it for me. Also came with a one year guarantee. Not sure why you would even consider a second hand to be honest.

even in the land of scams and corruption surely this police guy will not get off... surely!?

I did a similar thing once the day before my 11 hour flight back home to the UK. Had to cancel my flight and stay in bed for a couple of days - it wasn't a slipped disk. I was advised to lay down on my back on a flat surface quite solid (i.e. firm mattress) had someone to rub Thai oil (the stuff that gives a burning sensation similar to deep heat) gently into the painful areas and that really helped ease the pain. Within a few days was walking again. Obviously you should see a doc but if you can't get to one then can follow how I did.

this group of snakes are no better than what is in place, they all have one objective - enriching themselves
The future Forward party had potential but they were neutralized for that very reason
I agree. Prayut knew they were a real threat and got rid of them. Unbelievable what this govt is getting away with. If Future Forward did manage to get back under some other entity they would win a landslide vote no doubt!

Baring in mind how those two 'foreigners' were treated for simply picking up wildlife whilst diving, will be interesting to see how this Thai fella is treated.

This was all staged. Same thing happened with the last world cup. Prayut steps in to save the day... yawn.
-
I stayed up to watch it and it was worth it. Italy were excellent - Mancini has really got this team playing well as a unit. Pace, power, press - not the type of game you would usually associaate with the Azzuri but boy did they hand out a footballing lesson to Turkey! Great staart to the tourney - more of the same please!
As for the whole drama about will it or won't it be shown - didn't the same drama unfold exactly the same for the last world cup? In steps Prayut to save the day... not planned at all!!! ????

haha "all angles covered" and then go on to list the very most basic things such as "how deep the pool is"... honestly what a joke! And they wonder why the Thai police has a reputation in tatters.

what's worrying is that the news soming from the UK is that this indian variant is hitting 5 - 15 year olds. Has this been reported in Thailand yet (especially as they are contemplating opeing schools very soon)?

I wonder who stands to profit from this one?

The bookies are making England the favourites and I would love them to win it but I just don't see it happening under Southgate. I have a sneaky feeling the Italians are gonna do it. Not lost a game in 2 years under Mancini...
COVID-19: Thailand reports new daily record of 53 deaths; 4,786 new cases

The point I was making was that even with a much higher proportion of their population vaccinated, the UK still can report 20k+ infections in a day compared to Thailand's 5k in a day with much much fewer people vaccinated. This would suggest that the Thai numbers are way off.... would you disagree?
