the current restrictions are completely useless. Its a lockdown by name only... in actual terms everything is continuing as normal apart from malls, shops and restauraants being semi closed. Go out on to the roads where I live in Nonthburi and they are almost as busy as usual. People are still going about their daily business and having daily interactions almost as normal - so how is this a lockdown..? How will these restrictions curtail the spread of covid? They won't. As simple as that. A complete waste of time. The govt needs to go all in and call a full lockdown - or not all. Instead they choose to dawdle and then blame the people for not being responsibe enough to follow the rules. Prayut and Anutin are a joke.

the irony is that they will still allow boatloads of Thai tourists to visit protected marine parks, put lifevests on them and let them all jump into the sea and clamber all over the corals having a great time. I witnessed this last year as I was out snorkelling with my video camera. The boat came with music blaring - all the Thais jumping in and hppily standing on the coral. I was in total shock at what I was seeing. I spoke to an islander who told me it is a daily occurence. The Thais cannot swim and do not realize they are damaging the coral by standing on them, and the boat owners only care about the money and so do even bother to try to stop it from happening. Better they try and stop this from happening first surely...

Me too. I can't see where I read it but I recall the completed application would be subject to document checking. Which means they will have to work their way through all the attachments, possibly rejecting if both visa and passport are not supplied.
I registered on the Sunday and received a confirmation email stating I had been successful on the same day (see below), Now just waiting on the date...
Your registration for the FIRST dose of COVID-19 vaccination is successful.
Once available appointment slot is sent to your email, please confirm within 24 hours.Failure to confirm within 24 hours will result in the cancellation of your preregistration.

I got ill back in December, didn't have any of the symptoms associated with covid but just felt exhausted all the time. For about 4 weeks I couldn't get out of bed. For the last 7 months I have experienced ongoing symptoms about the mouth, tongue and throat. Having researched it - it looks like a very good chance it is long covid. Have been to see different ENT specialists countless times always met with blank expressions. Just wondered if anyone else in the same boat as me?
Also would like to know if anyone can recommend a good specialist/department/hospital to visit? This far have been visiting ENT departments but wondering if I should be going to Respitory Department? Any advice/help appreciated.
TIA

I was also successful and like you I'm uneasy about it, especially since all data was accessible to anyone on that website for a coupe of hours after they opened for registration. They've apparently closed the loophole but still........
so did you submit the photos? I was thinking of blurring out my signature but then I risk having my application rejected. I think I am going slowly mad...

I finally got the email with registration link... feeling very uneasy about uploading my passport photo which includes my personal info (name/DOB) and my signature. Bearing in mind how easy these sites are to hack... anyone else reluctant to do it or am I overthinking this??

I just called Medpark and their allocation for vaccines is now full. Does anyone have a recommendation of where I can go to get mine (preferraby astra)? Thanks

Mother in law - much as I love her - sleeps in our room when she s here, as does our niece. It seems they are both scared of ghosts!! a few mattresses on the floor and we can all keep our respective distance. The only thing that bothers me is her constant wittering about that nights lakorn.
Our boy moved into his own room when he discovered the joys of internet porn.
Ha ha yes if my mother-in-law stays she will sleep in my son's room because she is scared of ghosts too! Craziness... absolute craziness.

nothing but empty words. Its got to the point now where everything that comes out of Prayut's and Anutin's mouths is completely discarded as lies and nonsense. Thailand deserves better.

haha yes this is completely normal for Thai culture! I have known of kids/teens sleeping in parents rooms until the age of 18!!!! I remember the look of horror on the Thai parent's faces in our village when I explained to them that our 2 year old son would sleep soundly in his own bedroom... they weren't impressed at all... in fact the total opposite. I remember one mum saying to me "...but how will your son know you love him". Completely different way of doing things here... they have no concept of teaching a kid to stand on their own two feet and of instilling discipline (and by that I do not mean hitting).
When my son was born I drew up a list of things that Thai's do and I would not do. My wife was in full agreement... my mother-in-law was not! I remember one evening almost grappling with the mother-in-law outside the bedroom door because my son was crying and wouldn't sleep. She wouldn't respect our wishes to try and let our son fall asleep by himself.
Totally different mindset and culture to raising a kid here. Mealtimes are hilarious... watching Thai parents/nannies chasing kids around with a bowl trying to spoon feed them whilst they play. They used to look at my soon sitting happily in a chair feeding himself in utter amazement!!!

very sad story. I hope the daughter is okay - she could have been in an extremely desperate state to do this.

I assume he is not here with a UK passport entry. If he was a valid passport would be needed to clear immigration.
It is standard procedure to show both passports when checking in for a flight if they are here as a Thai to confirm they can enter the UK.
Yes you are correct ubonjoe. My son came into Thailand on his Thai passport. He will leave on his Thai passport but I am guessing as there is no UK visa in it - Thai Immigration will need to see his Brit passport just to ensure that he can travel. That is my understanding.

This gets more ridiculous by the day... really..... Brits are coming from the UK even though Thailand currently on amber list (soon to be red)!!?? And quote "that many of the tourists would be making repeat visits with their families." Why do they persist with this BS rhetoric. And talk about opening islands to allow island hopping.... all this BS whilst in the backgorund covid is raging.
This govt is causing untold damage to Thailand's reputation. Not only do they deceive Thai's with this rubbish but they are purposely deceiving the rest of the world by trying to entice tourists by tricking them into believing Thailand is safe. When the rest of the world catches on - there will be no-one coming for quite some time.

What a total waste of time, if he was Thai nothing would have been done.
Around here a very small percentage of people are wearing masks, nothing is done about it.
Just another farang bashing episode, having said that the man is as fool for not wearing a mask.
Yep! There was another story about a 'Farang' that stole a landlords furniture. The police put on a screen show for the press with clipboards and pointy sticks to show how they caught the 'nasty foreigner'. Not sure why they feel the need to put on these cabaret acts for such petty crimes commited by foreigners. It really is getting quite absurd!

Un-f#@%ing-believble!!! This whole public charade is just for some furniture being stolen from a rented accommodation!!?? Oh wait... I see now.... the thief is farang... good work RTP... keep catching those horrible nasty foreigners.
What a laughing stock these police are. Can you imagine the Brit/American police calling a public meeting/presentation with clipboards and pointy sticks to show how they successfully apprehended a thief who'd stolen a few hundred pounds of furniture..!? Honestly.... the hipocracy of it all... just days after some idiot spouting how Thais and foreigners treated the same here...!!!

Agreed with above however I would be wary of some airline jobsworth denying boarding for an expired British passport and his Thai passport not having a British visa. I know that UK would not reject him entry however one never knows how airline staff will handle it. Best to return before British passport expires.
Yes - totally agree. Thanks!

He’s British, he can’t be rejected entry into the UK.
Show his British Passport upon Checkin (to prove Nationality / no need for visa in Thai passport).
Depart Thailand on his Thai passport at Thai Immigration.
Enter the UK on his Expired (or soon to expire) British Passport.
Renew Passport from within the UK while you are there.
...that is exactly how I was thinking if doing it! Thanks for confirming.

With the situation worsening here I have been thinking of heading back to the UK with my son and wife (they both have a Thai passport and a British passport each). However, my son's British passport expires in mid August 2021 (his Thai passport recently renewed). Baring in mind the requirement of 3 months validity on a passport to travel - will he be able to travel to the UK? Will The Thai Immigration let him travel and will UK Immigration allow him in? My thinking was that as he is British - it should be okay (as long as we get it renewed whilst there).... anyone know for sure?

for me this tops all of the very very bad corrupt decisions made by the govt and this should be the one that angers the Thai public the most. There is just no reason in the world that this govt can put forward that can justify such a decision.

You either haven't been here long or not even in the country....
been here 10 years, do my extension every year...never paid a bribe... not sure what the issue is with my statement. My wifes friend had been going to the same immigration as me... she ended up paying tea money for all sorts of things because once she paid it - it was expected from then on!

medicine prices in thailand? (are different pharmacies cheaper)?
in Health and Medicine
Posted
expect to pay 2, 3 or even 4 times the normal price if buying from a private hospital. The last time I got my bill, 1200 baht was for two medicines. Luckily the bill itemized the medicines so I took a photo and then handed it back to the staff and said I would leave the medicine. I went to my local pharmacy and paid just less 400 Baht for the exact same medicine.
Other private hospitals have cottoned on to this practice and so will not itemize the medicine so you may have to buy from them.
