They accept credit and debit cards. Your debit card from a Thai bank should work. What kind do you have?
You can still use the postal money order but you have to call them first to find out the amount you need to pay.
On the bottom of my Thai card it says
Electronic use only. It's a K-SME debit card

Now that they have streamlined, their word, the payment system so that a PO no longer suffices. What do those of us with only a Thai debit do. Mine is only accepted electronically.

I doubt it. They would want to see where the money is coming from. Perhaps get a income letter from your embassy if possible would be best.

So if my bank statement shows a total of 480,000 paid in over 12 months, will Penang accept that?

At first it was 100k baht when they started wanting financial proof then 200k baht and now 400k baht after they stopped doing them for awhile.
You might of gotten one the last ones with no financial proof.
One more thing please, what is the police order that states if my 12 month income exceeds 480000, that meets the income requirements?

Am I missing the point re bank book? I thought the idea of going to Penang or other nearby consulates or embassies, was because we did not meet the 40,000 per month or 400,000 in the bank.

After I lived with my now wife for over a year, I asked her if she wanted to get married. I got a strange look from her and she asked, "Why". Not very romantic for sure. I told her there were certain US tax advantages for married people. That made sense to her and she said "Up to you". We got married.
After redundancy I came out to spend 6 months with my now wife. If we weren't comparable, I was going to go home forget Thailand, and look for work. When we went anywhere after 2 months, people would ask if she was my wife, I'd answer not yet. After another 2 after someone asked, she was upset. Why do you always say I'm not your wife? She said. Clearly a cultural misunderstanding, wed being together for four months, and in her eyes we were married. So I just said do you want to go to the Amphur's office then. She said yes, and that was that.

How would that happen, surely if no current going into meter from house how would any clock reading be recorded going out ?
Well where I live the meter is on a pole on the side of the road, after the meter, it goes into the house and the isolator switch. So if they've connected on the outgoing side, to their property, the meter will still read.

OP if the Mrs don't want bother turn the electric off in the house and set up a battery type connection to the security light, thieving neighbour cut off problem solved.
If they've connected to the meter at the outgoing side, your solution won't work.

Not much profit in rubber trees. I had several hundred and after 4 years of issues removed them and replaced with blueberries. Business has never been better in Khon Kaen.
I think the problem is that people were encouraged to plant in places where conditions are not suitable. Places that have insufficient rain etc. The guys in the rubber tree thread, are talking about how man trees in Issan and trees are being cut down.

In the general area, look for farming. Go to stickies and then rubber trees. Down in Ranong kee yang is 28 baht/kg. The buyers are turning it into crepe.

My neighbour told me last week that on the 23rd of this month there will be racing in Chao Praya.
A little bit upstream/North of Pak Kred (Rama 4 bridge).
Race village will be at a temple on the Western bank of the river.
I assume there will be heats for at least the following classes of boats;

long tail 4 cylinder
long tail 6 cylinder
speedboat lek
speed boat yai
Probably cancelled now.

If you intend doing a borer hop to Myanmar for a visa exempt entry, recognize that this is only possible now in Ranong. Other border crossings with Myanmar do not allow them.
A visa exempt entry will have no impact on a later application for a Non Imm O visa.

No no adverse effect.
Where do you intend to 'hop over" to Burma and how will doing so delay your need for a new visa ?
I get a visa exempt entry, then within the time of that entry stamp, I'll go to Penang. I only need a few days for it to be more convenient for me.
