What lockdown! a 10pm to 4 am curfew????
Did you try entering Pattaya any time over the last month? I found one way you could bypass the police lockdown, and only by push bike that you had to lift over the barrier. Other than that, you had to have your temperature taken and id checked (I wonder if they nailed any over stayers?). Sure, there will always be a minuscule number that slip through the cracks, but by and large it was a successful policy.

It did. Millions are hurting.
But they are alive. Alive and hurting beats the alternative any day.

Why did they shut down Pattaya when they say most cases are from the deep South?
They shut it down and now there are virtually no cases currently in Pattaya. Perfect example of "tough love."

the UK numbers are rising because the testing has been given a boost but the USA has officially tested 8.3 million people, far more then any other nation so I hardly think its avoiding the issue.
It's how many people per capita that makes the difference. Sure, the US has tested many people but they have a larger population than most countries. It's the percentage of the population where the US is sadly behind all other countries, and the current administration isn't interested in a more aggressive testing policy. The direct quote from the president: "So, in a way, by doing all of this testing, we make ourselves look bad."
https://www.businessinsider.com/trump-says-too-much-coronavirus-testing-makes-us-look-bad-2020-5
Look at how Vietnam is testing in numbers that shame the rest of the world and they currently have about the best situation on the globe:
https://ourworldindata.org/coronavirus-testing
Florida has ordered all coroners to stop reporting the number of deaths because the number of deaths reported by the medical examiners (the actual numbers) were 10% higher than the numbers reported by the state coroners office.
Smells like a cover up to me.

This is the beginning of the undenieable. The worst is about to to be. bodies on the streets. Wake up and stop denying.
there should be hard evidence of thousands of tests dailyThe other 50pct of people on this site say it's a hoax. Well, which is it?
The US president has said he does not want a large testing process set up because the numbers will make him look bad.

I work at a large school with people who have connections all over Thailand, and not one of us has any personal contact with anyone who got it, or knows someone who knows someone who got it. I'm starting to think the lockdown they did had the right affect.

This is an outstanding website. Started by a 17 year old programmer, he says he turned down $8 million because he didn't want popup ads on his pages.

Better late than never i suppose , but why now when they are saying its all good now ?
I suspect when they turn the tap back on for tourists to return, they'll want to keep a very close eye. I believe this is the first time I've ever seen an ounce of prevention in this country.

Even now he thinks its no big deal and wants the US open, regardless of death rates.
And he may be 100% right, depending on perspective.
Look any family member who lost a loved one to Covid-19 straight in the eye and tell them that.

Say what you will about their bumbling efforts, there was only one new case and no deaths reported yesterday. Yeah, I absolutely disagree with the alcohol ban even though it had no effect on me personally, but overall I feel a whole lot better living here than I would if I were in the US.

Thailand's alcohol sales ban was lifted Sunday May 3rd with only the governors of Pathum Thani, Buriram, Nakhon Phanom, Petchaburi and Phitsanulok keeping it in place until the end of May.
Instead of joining the mad rush the day the ban was lifted, I waited until the next day. Just another beautiful day in the neighborhood. No lines, shelves were all full. I DID stock up (4 bottles of Amaretto, 4 bottles of whiskey, etc). SO glad to see my local 7/11 is selling smaller cans of Kaiserdom. The larger cans were a bit much.

It’s so easy to look back at the timelines and see so many mistakes that were made.
Unfortunately, they're still making YUGE mistakes in the US and will probably continue to do so. Opening up nonessential businesses such as WWE, tattoo parlors and the such, while the infection rate is still increasing, is the most boneheaded move possible. What was that saying about learning from history or being doomed to repeat it?

The last pandamic, the later called Spanish Flue", was released from Haskell County, Kansas, USA.
That was the first reported case. Not necessarily the origin.
"While it's unlikely that the “Spanish Flu” originated in Spain, scientists are still unsure of its source. France, China and Britain have all been suggested as the potential birthplace of the virus, as has the United States, where the first known case was reported at a military base in Kansas on March 11, 1918."

1:30 p.m. Saturday 2 May - doing reconnaissance at Villa Market Pattaya in The Avenue Mall. I asked if they were selling booze the next day, gal said they weren't sure if the parent company (HER words!) were allowing it. Just a heads up.

Read all 6 pages, still don't know what exactly is happening.
Will the ban be lifted as of 3rd May and stay lifted or not?
At this current time/space continuum, the plan is 11:00 a.m. 3 May the ban will be lifted. I foresee a mad rush to fill up the liquor pantry as the absence of logic from the people who control the green light/red light may fully well shut it down again on a whim.
