Maybe Western travelers would have shown more "enthusiasm" if something had been done for them - specifically for those who are willing and able to stay longer. Russians currently get 90-day visa exempt entries. The same was considered for Western travelers, but that proposal didn't seem to get anywhere. With the shoddy eVisa system in place, it remains a hassle.

Kanchanaburi Border Run

That would be a friendly border for a border run as well, but its location is less convenient than others for most people. -
currently stuck in Phuket airport (denied entry)

An international transfer in Bangkok wouldn't be a problem as long as you can do it airside (e.g. using AirAsia's "FlyThru" service) without having to enter Thailand. As you've already used up your overland visa exempt entries for 2023, you could consider applying for a tourist visa at the Thai embassy in Vientiane, which would allow you to enter overland. You'd need to check when they have appointments available though. If the visa agent you're in touch with has contacts at airport immigration, they might also be able to facilitate your entry in Bangkok. -
Suvarnabhumi Airport opens automated channels to foreign travellers
Caldera replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
I think this makes perfect sense (for a change). Everything that needs to be checked when exiting the country can be automated, some countries don't even have outbound immigration at all. Unlike with overland travel, nobody needs to see an exit stamp when flying out. If the country you're flying to is interested in where you're coming from, they can ask for the boarding pass - as Thai immigration does. -

That's quite an ordeal. Maybe you can find a flight from KL to Laos (Vientiane) and enter Thailand overland from there. -
While he can be prosecuted in Germany, the evidence provided by the Thai police will need to meet the procedural standards and burden of proof in a German criminal court. That's a tall order for them, and might be one of the reasons why Big Joke wants to fly to Germany himself too see what can be done. If the victim is really 17 years old as reported, an additional problem is the age of consent, so unless he can be slapped with an assault, trafficking or coercion charge. The German court will apply German law, and having sex with a 17 year old person who consents isn't a crime.

A denied entry isn't the same as being blacklisted. Nobody stops you from re-attempting to enter at any point of entry on any other day. Of course it would be a good idea to choose wisely. -
Elite visa with two small overstay.
Caldera replied to Mika78's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
How recent are those overstays? If both or at least one of them are/is from more than 3 years ago, you might be okay. -
The extension needs to be formally canceled by the immigration office that issued it. You'll need a letter from your school stating on which date your studies will end. Then you'll need to take that letter to the immigration office and they'll cancel your extension effective that date. You should obviously go there a few days before, to give you time to exit the country without overstaying. Which land border do you intend to use? Some are friendlier than others, and if you want to return on the same day, you also need to bribe Cambodian immigration to let you exit without an overnight stay. Depending on where you are located, using a border run service might be your best option to avoid any hassle at the border.

Kanchanaburi Border Run

That border crossing with Myanmar is still closed, so this currently isn't an option. -
Every time an "expat exodus" and a subsequent "collapse" has been predicted, neither did happen. I really can't take this nonsensical fear-mongering seriously anymore. Yes, some more people will get taxed. Yes, for some of them that will be reason enough to leave. No, it won't amount to a mass exodus. No, it won't lead to any kind of collapse of parts of the Thai economy. Duh.

For Expats only. Thinking the unthinkable.
Caldera replied to swissie's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
That's laughable, considering that the Russian military hasn't made any real progress in Ukraine for more than a year when their original plan was to take Kiev within days. Walking into NATO territory, Russian ground troops would be obliterated by air strikes within days. It would quite literally be suicide. -

Chinese Tourist Exposes Nana Area as Potential Danger for Women
Caldera replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
So just to be clear, she dressed like a street walker (nothing wrong with that of course) and went to a specific area where many street walkers operate (the Nana Hotel parking lot)? And then she was shocked that guys mistook her for a street walker and showed interest? Mind-boggling. -
This isn't a question of what one "believes". Some of their information is factually incorrect and based on long-abandoned policies. So yes, it's outdated information, just as I wrote. The most glaring example is that they state that those who enter visa exempt at a land border are given 15 days (instead of 30 days). That hasn't been the case since many years.

Why are fewer Chinese tourists visiting Thailand?
Caldera replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
They "aren't that bad" compared with which other countries? Many popular tourist destinations have already recovered to pre-Covid levels. Thailand has fallen behind.
