Let me get this straight. The victims engaged a "visa agency" to get them an education visa/extension for studying at a language school. If they had had the intention to actually attend lessons, they'd have signed up with the language school directly. In other words, people who intended to obtain an education visa fraudulently got scammed in the process. While I don't condone the actions of that scammy visa agency, the amount of sympathy I can find in my heart for those victims is therefor quite limited.

Not explicitly, but it also doesn't make clear which authority is entitled to make that determination. As so often, the details are open to interpretation. As the Constitution mandates due process, one sensible interpretation would be that a criminal court has made the determination of guilt. I think that's what the SCOTUS will rule in this matter, but we're all just guessing at this point.

That would be my concern as well. As long as Trump hasn't been convicted for insurrection, disqualifying him as a candidate looks like a very questionable decision. I'd assume that this decision will be overturned for this reason. I do think he's guilty of that crime, but he has a right to due process just like anyone else.

If I ever had that feeling, I'd leave Thailand. It really is that easy, I'm in Thailand by choice. Without telling us more, we can only speculate why you ended up being fined 10,000 baht. So I'll speculate. Sounds like an overstay fine; either you failed to leave on time (your responsibility) or to get the paperwork for your extension on time (could be your responsibility, or that of your employer). Please explain who scammed you.

I don't know of any other country that constantly sees the need to make tourists feel welcome with publicly announced "crackdowns" such as this one. By all means, crack down, but don't be too boastful about it - especially as you keep finding foreigners on multi-year overstays that should have been found long ago.

TAT Targets 3.5 Trillion Baht Tourism Revenue in 2024
Caldera replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Ah the TAT are dreaming up numbers again. -
It probably has about the same impact on youngsters as it has on you. None.

In my Bangkok neighborhood, there has definitely been an uptick in the number of masked faces within the last few weeks. The result of a combination of really bad air pollution and an increase in respiratory diseases (Covid-19, flu, whatnot), I'd guess.

If it can be proven that he knowingly engaged in a sexual act with a 17 y.o. for money, that would be a crime in Germany (since 2008). Maybe he only learned about the fact that payment was expected when she asked for a tip after having sex. Again tricky, as a German prostitute would probably request money upfront, which makes prosecuting sex for money with underage sex workers easier.

As a German citizen, he cannot be extradited from Germany to Thailand. He COULD be tried in Germany, and before that would happen, the prosecution would need to establish if he has committed a crime that he can be charged with under German law. I think the trickiest part is that any evidence required to secure a conviction will have to be provided by the Thai police farce which is well known for their shoddy work - but would need to satisfy the expectations of a German criminal court.

Officially, you need to carry a printout. If you fail to do that, anything could happen. From the eVisa website: After the e-Visa application has been approved, a confirmation e-mail will be sent to applicants, which must be printed out for presenting to airlines and Thai Immigration Officials when traveling to Thailand.

In Savannakhet, a multi-entry visa isn't available based on having a Thai child, only a single-entry visa is. If you do have 400k baht in a Thai bank account and legal custody of your child, you could get a single-entry visa from Savannakhet and then a one-year extension at your local immigration office.

Taiwan seeking answers over hit and run death in Bangkok
Caldera replied to snoop1130's topic in Bangkok News
Any doctor who refuses to treat a critically injured patient shouldn't be allowed to work as a doctor. Such despicable behavior is shameful for the medical profession. In the case of private hospitals, I'd guess the only real option is to fine them an insane amount for each and every emergency patient they turn away illegally. As they only care about money, hit them where it hurts them the most. -
How? If they don't spend more, it's probably not because they couldn't find more cr/\p or entertainment to spend more money on, but because their budget simply doesn't allow them to spend more. Economic realities come to bite. Sure, they can chase the more affluent "quality tourist" again, but they just won't come in the numbers that Thailand wants.

Does Cambodian E-visa give passport visa sticker?
Caldera replied to Dennis133's topic in Cambodia Visa and Immigration
With the eVisa for Cambodia, all that will end up in your passport are an arrival stamp with eVisa annotation and an exit stamp. No visa sticker, you just take along 2 printouts of the eVisa PDF file they'll send you. -

Speak for yourself and refrain from saying something nonsensical like "we all find this very suspicious". I, for one, don't find the OP's report suspicious. Now I've got thousands of posts on here, but i do remember that I first signed up when I had a question I needed help with. Before, I had been a lurker for a long time without any reason to post. So I'd suggest it may well be the same with the OP.
