  1. Unethical Thai police doctors? Who would have thought they exist. ????
  2. It's hopeless, I've heard it so many times and it never leads to anything substantial.
  3. That's pretty much nonsensical. They'll be sent back to Cambodia, then pay someone to traffic them to Thailand again, helped by corrupt Thai officials at the border. Rinse and repeat.
  4. This will upset quite some high-rollers who moved to Thailand specifically to take advantage of the tax regulations for foreign-sourced income brought into Thailand later.
  5. Surely that must be a joke, as Thailand is abysmally bad in 3 out of those 5 categories.
  6. That's a good point. I won't use the new website until I would have otherwise used the old website again. It's not like still current notifications need to be redone just because there's a new website.
  7. They've sent your for questioning and you received your eVisa while you were waiting for your turn to get questioned? Did I understand that correctly? Excellent timing if that's the case. Then what happened? Did they choose not to question you once you told them about the newly arrived eVisa? Regarding the onward ticket, the official requirement is just a "ticket out" to any other country within the time your visa exempt is valid. That's what the airline flying you in would check (if they do). In case of immigration questioning you, all bets are off, people have reported that airport IOs haven't been happy with tickets to nearby countries before. Probably because they suspect the obvious.
  8. So they created this shiny new website and there's STILL no option to download a notification receipt? You still need to take a screenshot, just like with the shoddy old website?
  9. They never miss an opportunity to create completely unnecessary hassle. How difficult can it he to copy the user accounts over from the old system?
  10. It's not like you can sue them if you feel like it's taking too long.
  11. Yes (I realize that's true), but the question remains, why should the Thais allow someone who isn't "loaded" (by their standards anyway) to retire in their country? Those minimum requirements were put in place for a reason.
  12. Yeah but if you don't meet those requirements, it could be argued that you don't qualify and should retire elsewhere.
  13. I'd love to see some statistics released. How many prisoners have been helicoptered from prison to hospital this year? How many of those in the middle of the night? How many of those prisoners who have reported that they feel sick have been given the opportunity to see a doctor within say 24 hours? How many of those prisoners who did get to see a doctor were taken to hospital? How many were fobbed off with a bag of paracetamol or the likes? That would go a long way to establish that it's standard procedure for a sick inmate to be helicoptered to hospital in the middle of the night. Or not.
  14. This new government has neither brains nor shame, they'll rob the country blind.
  15. You can't and it probably isn't a priority of the new government to change that. If Pita had become PM, you would have reason to be optimistic, but as things are, better don't get your hopes up.
  16. Shouldn't be a problem, Chong Mek is a very friendly, sleepy little border crossing. I've never seen any report of trouble there.
  17. Why? It's not like more people are lining up to visit Chiang Mai; its best days as a tourist destination are in the past, not in the future. I understand why they increase the capacity at other airports like Krabi. But Chiang Mai would be a waste of money, that's already a sizable airport.
  18. If you were a public servant who is getting away with accepting "gifts" from agents, which type of applicant would you prefer? The one who is chaperoned by such a gift-bearing agent, or the one showing up alone? Call it a travesty or call it Thai culture, it is what it is.
  19. Is he the new PM or the court jester? ????
  20. There's always one. Maybe you should leave the preaching to the preachers and the policing to the police, if only to show respect to them. Those PAST overstays of the OP have already been adjudicated by the competent officials.
  21. Put your experience to good use and just apply for another tourist visa, which would give you wiggle room in case your "month or so" exceeds those 30 days you'd get visa exempt.
  22. You cannot use a passport copy to check in for a domestic flight. You don't necessarily need your passport, but you do need one of the original documents approved for domestic air travel, see: https://www.airportthai.co.th/en/which-documents-are-accepted-for-domestic-travel❓/ At hotels, YMMV, whatever the individual hotel or receptionist is willing to accept.
  23. The Isaan isn't a province. Khon Kaen isn't exactly impoverished compared with other Isaan provinces. Hopefully the rest of the article has some basis in fact.
  24. The problem with that plan might be that Thailand is doing no such thing. Thailand prioritizes money that is up for grabs right now over any future concerns.
