You can extend your permission to stay once at your local immigration office, for an extra 30 days. You can also do a border bounce, but there will be some in immigration and especially at airports who view that as "abusing the system", as you've already found out.
-
Usually that's put on an entry stamp (not on an extension stamp) and means that the person entered the country using a re-entry permit.

Tourist arrival ‘tax’ postponed, foreign arrivals drop

I'm not surprised that airlines don't want to be drawn into this. And neither should the Thai officials who cooked up this brilliant scheme be surprised. Fail. -
Applying For Non-O Visa

Based on what do you intend to apply? Retirement, or something else? -
Will you apply for an extension in Chiang Mai? Otherwise, they won't transfer anything. If you apply for the 30-day extension of your tourist visa at Chiang Mai immigration, they will transfer your entry stamp to your new passport, make note of your tourist visa, and stamp the extension into your new passport. No reference of any prior visas will be made in the new passport.

She's lovely. And couldn't do a worse job than the incumbent no matter what. Win-win if she gets in. -
Emergency 7 days Extension
Caldera replied to Bingo66's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Just be aware that you aren't entitled to this 7-day "extension" and that it isn't as routinely given as the regular 30-day extension. So be prepared for a potential refusal tomorrow, and have a plan B for traveling out on overstay just in case. All depends on your immigration office, and maybe your attitude. You really should have taken action before Songkran. -
Thai immigration returned the last two "linkage letters" I gave them, but I have no idea what would have happened if I hadn't had them. If you get my drift. It has always been an insane requirement, unless the passport holder's personal details changed from one passport to the next. If they match, the old and the new passport really ought to suffice, probably the most tamper-proof kind of documents in the world.

Bank statement amount for SETV e-visa
Caldera replied to sallecc's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
The exact amount in your local currency is set by your embassy or consulate. It's meant to be the equivalent of 20,000 baht, but some embassies round that up more than others. Best to check with them. -
10 things you need to know about Thailand’s election

The suspense is killing me. -
So they had a crackdown that kept police busy for 14 days, and all they could find were SIX foreigners on overstay? It took them more than two days, in average, to round up even a single overstaying foreigner? What a joke. How about this: Drunk driving is probably a much bigger problem in Buriram than overstaying foreigners, so it would be a much better use of police resources to crack down on that instead.

Wait until tomorrow and you can do your laundry right on Sukhumvit Road. Well, at least the soaking step.

Best of luck! These things can and do happen, unfortunately. -

I wrote they wouldn't JUST let you leave, with that I meant, they'd need to deal with the overstay. -

Actually you had to leave when your divorce became final. The big question is why immigration showed up at your ex-wife's house. Chances are they became aware of your divorce, which if true would be a big problem, as you probably couldn't just leave the country anymore, which would be your best option otherwise. -
divorced but staying on marriage visa
Caldera replied to stoicccc's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Do you actually have a still valid visa from an embassy (1 year, multiple entries) that requires you to to border bounces every 90 days? Or do you have an extension from immigration in Thailand? An extension needed to be canceled when the divorce became final, and I suspect that's what the district office told you to do. You could get into serious trouble if your overstay is discovered. -
French and German tourists turn their back on Brexit Britain

Read the headline and take your pick, Sir. You seem to prefer to spend time in Thailand instead, too. Did I actually write anything that is factually wrong? -

That doesn't surprise me. Miserable weather, and the food is even worse. Not the kind of country worth visiting if you'd need to apply for a passport just for that trip, while you can visit plenty of EU countries with just your ID card. Those who do have a passport are more likely interested in more faraway places (such as the US or, wait for it, Thailand). I'll leave it there before I'll rant about "pleasure beaches".
