Ok, I read the first page of comments and with only 2 exceptions they were all negative towards Thai life, culture, police, taxi drivers. These comments came from posters who've been here for decades (as they continually boast) yet they never miss an opportunity to put Thailand down. My question is: WTF are you still here? Lots of the usual cabbie bashing on here today. I've never had a problem in Bangkok or wherever I've lived in LOS. That maybe because I was a taxi driver in UK a lifetime ago and know from experience that many customers are rude and ignorant so I always treat the driver with the respect they deserve. Yes, I've had drivers refuse to use the meter. No problem, no hissy fit, no tok tik. Just walked away and got the next one.

Western Union is too expensive. My friend asked to send £1k to Thailand. He was quoted £28 senders fee. He asked what rate it would be converted to and was told £1=39.5 baht. The mid rate on the day was £1=44.8 baht. So W. U. would cost £81 to send £1k. Wise cost £10.39 with a rate of £1=44.8 baht. No contest.

Phew, after 2 days without a Thaksin story 2 come along together. I was beginning to suffer withdrawal symptoms from the fun that the Mr T hate mob comments give us. Just to muddy the already murky waters: I've renewed 2 UK passports at Trendy Building in the past 10 years and on both occasions the Thai who inspected my documents cut the corner of my expiring passport when she was satisfied that all was in order.
