  1. Anyone taking advice from that snake oil salesman deserve all they get.
  2. I don't recall Mr T giving a definite date to return. Yes, he said that he wanted to return this month but no date was mentioned. Welcome home on August 10th Mr Thaksin.
  3. Stop being so precious. The word by which you're so offended is a corruption of "Franceman" coming from the locals description of the Frenchmen who occupied much the territory surrounding Siam. This area was called French Indo China.
  4. Go easy on them Razz. Coming from a country with no history and having given the world Rupert Murdoch they need the occasional reason to crow. Sandpaper eh? Tut tut.
  5. Even if you know the person there's no guarantee that it's not a scammer who's hacked your friend's account. Almost monthly I'll get a message from a friend saying "if you get a friend request from me, ignore it. I've been hacked".
  6. Dunno if this is the right place to post but here's a heads up to a scam doing the rounds now. My partner took a call on her phone while I was reading the world news. I heard her shouting which is unusual for her but took no notice. Then she said "darling I need your bank book" which, without thinking, I gave her. Still engrossed in the Guardian website I glanced across at her phone and saw a police officer talking to her on Line. Alarm bells rang and I used this phone to call my bank and block all movement on my account. I told her to hang up. I managed to glean that this police officer had told her that there was a warrant for her arrest in Chayupom on drugs charges. He had her name, address and ID card number. She's never been to that place. He suggested this problem could go away with a sweetener. We went straight to our local cop shop, explained the story and she was told that there was no warrant out for her. On return to the village we stopped at a shop and told of our experience. We found out that 3 other villagers had similar experiences and some had actually paid up. Needless to say the bogus cop had erased all evidence of his scam by now Beware folks.
  7. Oh yeah? Millions of Thais voted for PT. None voted for the Military Junta. Spot the difference?
  8. No, the police have not pressed charges because there were no laws broken. Move along please.
  9. Oh dear this won't please the resident Thaksin haters on here.
  10. I predicted that Tony wouldn't return this month. As he said, it's wiser to wait until the political situation is clearer. I was in Bangkok in 2010 when government troops massacred red shirt protesters, some taking refuge in a temple. Tony is very conscious of this and the thuggery 4 years later of Suthep and his yellow shirt goons which led to the overthrow of a democratically elected government and Prayut and the generals. Stay in Dubai for the time being Tony until it's clear what plans the generals have for Pita.
  11. Ah the old "they're all the same" defence which is being rolled out by the dwindling number of Tory apologists as they see, one by one, their flag waving patriots drummed out of Parliament for sleaze, lying, cronyism, bullying and assault. No. They (cross party MPs in UK anyway) are different.
  12. Where has any poster here been lying?
  13. Don't need ATM card to deposit cash in machine.
  14. Love the Rich Rodericks who think nothing of spending 300-500 baht, minimum on an act of vanity. An extension to the "big car-small pecker" syndrome maybe?
  15. Good luck to em if they've kept beneath the radar and carved out a decent life for themselves. That's what my reaction would be.
  16. Don't worry mate. Inside our guts are acids which break down all the bad stuff we imbibe.
  17. A brilliant riposte to a mean spirited post. Well said sir.!
  18. What a sneering reply. My EU passport definitely doesn't have an address line and my American friend and Thai partner with whom I am sipping coffee with have addressless passports. That accounts for 1 billion of the world population. Perhaps you could reveal which country your passport was issued in. If you can't then I call BS.
  19. Many years ago it was the village boys in brown, not immigration, who came to photograph the house I'd just built in the village.
  20. Do you blame him for turning down GammonBroadcast "News". Just one look at the current bunch of presenters would have anyone running for the hills: Mad Nad, Smugg and Farridge are hardly the epitome of fair and balanced presentation.
