There is also medical information that suggests the main reason the masks can be beneficial is that they prevent people from touching their mouths and noses which cuts off the main transmission route of the virus ie touching contaminated surfaces and then touching lips or nostrils, people do it all the time without even being aware most of the time. The effectiveness on airborne particles is minimal if any at all.

It's never been stated that the vaccines will definitely prevent you from getting Covid however they do drastically reduce the chance of serious illness. At the end of the day zero Covid isn't going to happen and so its inevitable that all of us will get Covid at some stage and if you're young enough you will get it multiple times in your life. As with other respiratory illnesses eg influenza some years it's mild while other years it can be nasty, it will be the same with Covid. In fact its better that once you are fully jabbed your body then meets a mild variant like Omicron for the first time and not some later more lethal variant.

90 day reporting in person
Yewbzee replied to Yewbzee's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Yes you are correct it is Jomtien. I also agree the 800k confirmation is a waste of time. On the previous occasions I've handed them the letter they don't even look at it, it just gets added to the paper stack. -
90 day reporting in person

Thanks for the advice, cheers folks. -
How often do you have to report in person for the 90 day reporting? I've been using the online reporting website effectively in 2021 but I think I read somewhere that you have to go in person after the 4th one, is that correct or am I imagining it? I am actually on a new extension and have to do the 800k 3 month confirmation in February but my next 90 day deadline is at the end of this week so those dates are out of sync.

Thailand suspends ‘Thailand Pass’ and ‘Test & Go’
Yewbzee replied to Jonathan Fairfield's topic in Thailand News
All you need to do is look at the epidemiology of omicron in South Africa where they are about 10 days ahead. In a country with less than 30% vaccinations it has shown to be significantly milder and the average hospital stay is 2.8 days compared to 7 to 9 days of previous variants. -
International deepwater rig pig. 1 month on 1 month off, so ideal for Thailand.

Retirement Visa Renewal - anything new?
Yewbzee replied to Yewbzee's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I'm on the "Non-O". -
Hi folks I'm about to go through the annual renewal process for my retirement visa at Jomtien Immigration, has anything changed in the process from 12 months ago? I've seen some stories on insurance requirements but I'm not sure if thats now a requirement or just something they were suggesting at random. Any help appreciated. Cheers.

Yes I got an appointment for a shot at Central in Pattaya last week however I had already received an appointment for the AstraZeneca jab with the British Chamber of Commerce in Sri Racha so opted for that one instead. Went last Friday, a very organised process. Second jab appointment in early November. I'm 52. Incidentally they also allowed my GF to be vaccinated at the same time and she's 33.

British Chamber Of Commerce Offering Vaccines to All
Yewbzee replied to UKJASE's topic in Health and Medicine
Why is there even an age threshold for foreigners receiving vaccines? There is no age limit for Thai locals?
