During my time in Thailand I had two vehicles and they both had to have their first MOT checks for tax renewal after 7 (SEVEN) years i.e. from their 8th "birthday", then annually.
Not when this man was around. He shifted support away from Bangkok to support infrastructure projects in the North. I know, I lived during his Premiership - well done Sir!!
What about school children who have to use a pedal cycle to get to school??
Here in Siem Reap (Cambodia) many pupils and students wear them. There are more pedal cycles than motorbikes amongst the school kids.

With respect, may I suggest continuing to Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai or Khon Kaen. The budget airline Thai VietJet offers inexpensive tickets from BKK to these resorts. Personally, I found Bangkok a busy, polluted "concrete jungle" and Phuket an expensive "rip off" resort.

Yes indeed. I used to beep beep when driving past roadside temples, especially those with special ornate shrines dedicated to the many road traffic victims at accident "black spot areas' among the mountains of Northern Thailand where I used to live. For me it was a matter of respect and personal choice.
