  1. With respect, there is no excuse for making such an unfair comment!!!
  2. YES, ME!! Over many years of sports injuries to my fingers and subsequent arthritic problems, I cannot use the touch screen smartphones. Fortunately living here in Siem Reap (Cambodia) the scanning of QR codes is not mandatory and one can sign a register, or in many instances just pass by, to enter. MAKRO is a good example - facemask, hand cleansing and body temperature YES, code scanning NO (and no registration book either!).
  3. Welcome to Chiang Mai happy holiday makers - Amazing Thailand!!
  4. Yes indeed. For reference from last night's "Breaking News" in The Nation:- (please note "restaurants") The Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration announced on Friday that restaurants in four tourism provinces will be allowed to serve alcoholic beverages from Monday. The meeting, led by Prime Minister ......................... decided that diners in Phuket, Krabi, Phang Nga and Bangkok can enjoy an alcoholic beverage with their meals from November 1. However, each provincial governor is in charge of specifying the zones where booze can be served. https://www.nationthailand.com/in-focus/40008159

  6. Waiting for a make-up artist and a camera crew??????
  7. Unbelievable for a 24 hour border hop, for example to go shopping (Mae Sai to Tachilek). When will the Thai Authorities ever get their brains into gear???
  8. Sorry to read of your problem but none of this BS TM30 bureaucracy here in Cambodia. Once registered on the FPCS (Foreign Persons in Cambodia System) that is it. I have just renewed my retirement visa (ER) for another year. Nothing more to do until October 2022. I wish you good luck.
  9. Yes indeed, but it did happen in Vietnam back in September 2020:- Vietnamese police have seized more than 320,000 used condoms that were to be illegally resold to unsuspecting customers, local media report. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-54284355
  10. From the article's photo, I do like the smart uniforms they are wearing!!
  11. Fair enough, but 20 years ago when I retired to LOS I am sure its position would have been higher - no bureaucratic hassle with visas in those days and 80 baht to 1 GBP!!
  12. Yes indeed, from todays Khmer press (25 October 2021):- "A group of more than 30 Cambodians were sent back to their country after illegally crossing the border into Thailand" https://www.khmertimeskh.com/50958516/more-than-30-cambodians-sent-back-to-cambodia-by-thai-authorities/
  13. "Happy hour" - now serving Kratom mocktails!!! (reference link to original article) Kratom, which stimulates the same brain receptors as morphine but with much milder effects, came off the Thai government's banned list in August................ The move threw .......................a lifeline, though kratom mocktails sell for just $4 compared with regular gin and tonics at $11.
  14. Yes indeed. Maybe due to transportation costs? Both vegetables are not grown on a commercial scale in Thailand, so have to be imported (as here in Cambodia). Australia was a big exporter but nowadays it is China and for reference:- The Australian fresh broccoli and cauliflower industries have experienced significant displacement in export markets. Exports for both products have declined rapidly in recent years. Export volumes of have collectively fallen by 92 per cent since its peak in 2001. China now produces 45 per cent of the world’s cauliflower and broccoli. Its production has grown 51 per cent since the year 2000. https://ausveg.com.au/app/data/technical-insights/docs/VG05028.pdf Incidentally, sometimes I can buy delicious Australian celery when in season.
