  1. Thank you for your observations. Was this at Thai or Cambodian Immigration? From personal experience, this was often the case at Cambodian (Poipet) Immigration. The main problem was people who entered Cambodia on an E-visa and either did not have, or mislaid, a copy to return to Immigration on exiting. For reference (Cambodian Immigration):- In around 3 days you will receive your visa for Cambodia by email. You then simply need to print two copies of this document for your outgoing and return travel. At Thai Immigration (Aranyaphratet), I always experienced long delays just queueing - 1 hour the shortest, 4 hours the longest.
  2. Yes indeed, well some of it when sewage removed! (Google):- Some seaweed polysaccharides are used by food industry as texture modifiers because of their high viscosity and gelling properties. In Asia seaweeds have been used for centuries in salads, soups and as low calorie dietetic foods.
  3. Ready for the Chinese??
  4. Best wishes and good luck to you, your daughter and your party, hoping the prosperity and happiness returns to the North away from the "stuffy" elite establishment in Bangkok. Us country bumpkins knew your conviction was politically motivated.
  5. Near Ilkley Moor by any chance??
  6. Yes indeed, from my experience when living in Thailand. I like iced tea but as a type 2 insulin dependent diabetic, I always had difficulty in finding "sugar free" varieties.
  7. Interesting! I wonder who were the eventual contractors for the Orange Line - Sino Thai by any chance??
  8. With respect, a reference I discovered on Google:- "We have traveled we know the world and have friends from other countries thus our minds are more open. Islam like many religions is outdated in many of its traditions. We don't really think god will punish us for having a beer or more with friends" https://www.quora.com/Why-do-Saudi-and-Qatari-people-drink-alcohol-in-western-countries I shall not enter into any discussions about religious beliefs. My sole intention was to post the above reference. Thank you.
  9. From link to OP:- The identity of the tourist was not revealed by Patong Police although some reports from associated Thai media said the man was a middle eastern tourist.
  10. For reference from today's Khmer media (25 February 2023) A fresh outbreak of bird flu cases in humans has emerged in Cambodia, leading to fears a new Covid-like pandemic could be on the horizon. Eleven more are being tested for the virus, four of whom are symptomatic. Full report:- https://www.khmertimeskh.com/501245124/bird-flu-h5n1-the-strain-with-a-50-kill-rate-that-may-be-spreading-among-people-for-first-time-in-decades/
  11. For reference:- Unless they used a charter flight, Pai airport is not currently operational. The nearest airport is Mae Hong Son, 106 kms by road. https://domesticflightsthailand.com/airports/pai-airport
  12. With the greatest respect, one more in the pick-up: ......on 5 September 2014 successful crammed 29 people into a new model MINI to set a new Guinness World Record for the most people crammed in a MINI, new model. https://autojosh.com/photos-of-the-day-29-people-crammed-into-a-mini-sets-guinness-world-record/
  13. Thank you Khon Kaen Immigration for your very kind assistance with the annual renewals of my retirement visa when I lived in Isaan. I wish you well. Fortunately, I now live in a neighboring country where the BS nonsense of "cash in a bank" does not exist and extending a retirement visa is simplicity itself and no corruption!
  14. Thanks, I presume not but that is what was stated.
  15. Condos yes. When I checked Google, amazingly I found this:- "It is a commonly unknown fact that although a foreigner cannot own land in Thailand, he can own the house or structure built thereon. One only has to apply for a construction permit to build the house in his own name"
  16. I am not surprised (Google) - The app was launched in 2016 by the Chinese technology company ByteDance.
  17. Then a catastrophic event causing extinction of dinosaurs?
  18. Thanks for your interesting comment and Chinese batteries. For reference:- BANGKOK, Jan. 11 (Xinhua) -- The first battery-powered locomotive manufactured by China Railway Rolling Stock Corporation (CRRC) Dalian Co. Ltd was launched here on Wednesday to aid Thailand's efforts to improve its railway service while cutting carbon emissions....Testing of the locomotive was conducted successfully by the State Railway of Thailand at the Bang Sue Grand Station in Bangkok.......The locomotive was jointly developed by CRRC Dalian and Energy Absolute Public Company Limited (EA) of the Southeast Asia country.(Thailand) https://english.news.cn/20230112/f7e5aa5d551943ae97f34b389502476c/c.html
  19. Unfortunately I did not, but it was soon pointed out to me in another reply. So, from Bangkok to Chiang Mai would require two stops for 10 minutes charging time - 20 minutes. Will this be added to the current travelling time or would these new locomotives travel faster than the current diesel electric ones thus being able to make up time??
  20. With respect, this is standard practice in the UK. You must wait. The lad's family will be involved in the investigation, possibly with the assistance of Family Liaison Officers.
  21. Distance by rail from Bangkok to Chiang Mai is 744 kilometers (Google) so there will be the need to make 2 long stops to change/recharge batteries or replace with another fully charged locomotive???
