Burma Bill replied to snoop1130's topic in Chiang Rai News
Great news. When visiting, I can now go shopping in the Burmese Duty Free shop for decent sized clothes! -
As a retired UK Forensic Scientist, I can assure people that the appropriate authorities will be conducting proper investigations, with the results being presented to the Coroner. With respect for the poor lad's family and friends, please do not speculate and wait for the Coroner's report. Thank you.

Additional information from the link: "The meatballs were being advertised as made of 100 percent pork which is not true because it is mixed with chicken meat to decrease the cost of production......................................the meatballs are also contaminated with Borax" (this is Sodium tetraborate and different from Sodium benzoate)

For those who may not know about UK Coroners, for reference: Coroners are independent judicial officers who investigate deaths reported to them. They will make whatever inquiries are necessary to find out the cause of death, this includes ordering a post-mortem examination, obtaining witness statements and medical records, or holding an inquest. A death is reported to a Coroner in the following situations: a doctor did not treat the person during their last illness a doctor did not see or treat the person for the condition from which they died within 28 days of death the cause of death was sudden, violent or unnatural such as an accident, or suicide the cause of death was murder the cause of death was an industrial disease of the lungs such as asbestosis the death occurred in any other circumstances that may require investigation https://www.nidirect.gov.uk/articles/coroners-post-mortems-and-inquests

Three-Month Burn Ban Put in Place to Curb Haze, Wildfire
Burma Bill replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
With respect, I would also like to know. Where I lived there were two large Mitrphol sugar refineries, one in Nong Rue and the other near Chumphae. All I ever witnessed were stacks of sugar canes entering, never any large bales, biomass or otherwise. Canes in - sugar and molasses out!! -
Three-Month Burn Ban Put in Place to Curb Haze, Wildfire
Burma Bill replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Yes indeed. Where I lived in rural Khon Kaen, burning sugar cane during the harvest was a nightly event - vehicles/people could not be seen. Every morning, I would wake to ash and burnt plant debris around and on the house. At first, it was burning the leaves and other debris left after the harvest, nowadays the fields are burnt to remove the dry leaves before harvesting leaving just the canes which can be cut more efficiently. More canes (without leaves) can then be stacked on a lorry providing a much better payload! This practice will never stop, whatever "distant" Bangkok decrees! -

I cannot find a complete list of all the countries, but for reference (which includes China):- "Cobra Gold Exercise 2023 will be back to full strength this year......................................This year’s exercises will involve a field training exercise and command post exercise, as well as training in cyber warfare, humanitarian assistance, disaster response, and – for the first time – space operations............... seven nations – Thailand, the U.S., Singapore, Japan, Indonesia, South Korea, and Malaysia – will participate in the main war exercises, while three others – China, Australia, and India – will take part in humanitarian aid exercises. The remainder will merely take part as observers" https://thediplomat.com/2023/02/thailand-u-s-gear-up-for-full-strength-cobra-gold-exercises/#:~:text=As is customary%2C seven nations, merely take part as observers. China - Taiwan?? Space operations - balloons??

For reference (BBC News) and very sad. The 17-year-old was found unconscious in his dorm in Leicestershire on Sunday and taken to hospital, where he died on Tuesday,.......................................He had been enrolled in a football academy in the UK since late last year. He was captain of the Thai boys' football team, which was trapped deep inside a cave for over two weeks. It is not known how the teenager died, but Leicestershire Police said his death is not being treated as suspicious. Reports in Thailand said he suffered a head injury..........................................................he had won a scholarship to join the Brooke House College Football Academy in Market Harborough. "Today my dream has come true," he wrote. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-64646039 RIP young captain and continue dreaming in that football academy in Paradise.

I totally agree. Back in November, I stayed in a "hotel" in Phu Wiang (Khon Kaen Province) which was a collection of new villas in landscaped gardens. My villa was well appointed with all the usual facilities, with furniture and much decor designed in wood. In the morning, there was a choice of cooked to order breakfast - Western or Thai style - with as much coffee, tea and fruit juices, bread/toast etc. as you wanted. Total cost (including taxes) was 500 baht per night. Currently this is still the daily rate. Sadly I cannot name the hotel in case I am breaching bureaucratic Thai competition laws. No problems here with bookings, always busy throughout the year with Thais and foreigners. stock photo:

5 million on the streets in one co-ordinated day of protests nationwide, could achieve international scrutiny. Unfortunately such vast numbers of protestors would probably bring the army onto the streets as well. Bang would go the aims of TAT!! -

Alcohol Free Spirits especially gin
Burma Bill replied to jayboy's topic in Western Food in Thailand
Amazing, reference:- (Google) The meaning of GIN is a colorless alcoholic beverage made from distilled or redistilled neutral grain spirits flavored with juniper berries and aromatics. So, do both named companies just sell flavored bottled water at a vast cost??? I am a G & T man - Gordons or Bombay Sapphire gin which are inexpensive here in Cambodia. -
For reference: (Lady in the Hills cold case) "North Yorkshire Police officers are now travelling to Thailand to speak to Lamduan’s parents ................. after an almost four-year delay due to COVID." Full story: https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/crime/cold-case-police-lady-hills-thailand-b2281126.html Please remember, COVID paranoia in Thailand kept access restrictions in place much longer than other countries.
