Thank you Norway, please keep up the pressure. Since the latest coup, Thailand's PTT has been funding the Burmese Junta by purchasing oil and gas (also the Chinese) providing money to buy military equipment for the genocidal terror group - the Tatmadaw! -

Well I never, that many on all the broken pavements (sidewalks) throughout the country?? (photo taken in Bangkok) -
I have made several visits to Vietnam and always took Thai Baht to exchange into Dong's at the money exchanges on arrival - easy and hassle free (cash for cash)! I also used my Bangkok Bank Visa Debit card at ATMs. (Mastercard these days at Bangkok Bank).

I sit here at my computer reading AN about "obeying rules" and all the restrictions being applied by the Thai Government so that individuals cannot enjoy themselves - so pathetic and laughable! I'm glad I now live in a country where "ENJOYMENT" is a key word. There will be plenty of alcohol being drunk in bars, restaurants and at parties after the firework displays at midnight here in Siem Reap and Phnom Penh. It is about people spending money to boost the economy!

And so the debate goes on and on and on .................... boring! Personally, I do carry a mask in my trouser pocket, not for Covid-19, but for this - dirt/dust pollution in the air when out in a tuk-tuk. With the dry season now upon us, this was a common sight in rural Thailand where I used to live, and still is today here in Cambodia with many dirt roads. Stock photo taken in Thailand. Moderators please delete if considered irrelevant.

Interesting, was this at a land border crossing? When entering by air, for a visa on arrival in Cambodia, Immigration demand 30 US$ which can be obtained from ATMs near the Immigration desks (Siem Reap and Phnom Penh). Personally, I have never been asked for 1,800 Thai baht on arrival by air but I believe there are dubious practices at the Poipet land border crossing involving so-called "agents".
-
Unfortunately "no". You will have to obtain a Tourist Visa (30 days) on entry. Cost 30 US$. (Same for Phnom Penh). As a UK passport holder, you will get 15 days free entry to Vietnam. 3 return flights with Air Asia from DMK to Ho Chi Minh (Saigon) at 07:40, 15:40 and 19:25. Whatever you decide, the best of luck.
-
With respect, may I also suggest Siem Reap. 2 daily return flights with Air Asia from Bangkok DMK at 09:55 and 14:50.

I used to live near Khon Kaen prior to the pandemic and was a local Tourist Police Volunteer. Here are some answers to your questions regarding Khon Kaen which I hope are current:- Right by the main nightlife area, near Central Plaza, and just a quick stroll, is the prominent luxury Pullman Khon Kaen Raja Orchid. This may be just outside your budget and currently a room costs 2,400 baht per night. There are other less expensive hotels in the same area but I leave you to research on the internet. By bus, there is a regular local service. Forget the Inter-Provincial buses heading south to Bangkok. There is the usual passenger van service and a train service. Trains depart Udon (arrival in Khon Kaen) - 05.55 (7.47) 08.14 (9.29) 13.38 (15.27) 19.03 (20.23) 19.28 (21.10) and 20.17 (21.47). Please check at Udon Station. What is the central entertainment area there? Mostly around the Pullman hotel where there are many bars and restaurants catering for the ex-pats. I seem to remember a nightclub but I soon left due to the ear splitting electronic music, strobes and screaming/shouting/inebriated Thais! Nightclubs are not my scene. The other area of bars and restaurants is across the main Route 2 which divides the city, within the extended University Campus, and to the north west from the Pullman. Obviously very popular with the students and great fun. Taxi/tuk-tuk essential. Whatever you decide, I hope you enjoy but please do your homework and bear in mind that Khon Kaen is not like Bangkok, Pattaya or Patong with all the sex pats/tourists!! Pre-pandemic most bars closed by midnight or 01:00am and "silence was golden"!

With the greatest respect, I have my doubts. Reference: the Nation:- Thailand had administered 138.2 million doses. Of these, 56.79 million were first jabs covering 81.7 per cent of the population, 52.8 million were second doses covering 75.9 per cent of people and 28.6 million were third jabs covering 41 per cent. https://www.nationthailand.com/in-focus/40016416 No information for 4th and 5th jabs. Whilst across the border in Cambodia:- Also, about 63.6% of the people had received a third dose, 27% a fourth jab, and 5.4% a fifth shot, the ministry added. https://en.vietnamplus.vn/cambodias-covid19-vaccination-coverage-close-to-95/239418.vnp I have searched the internet for 4th and 5th doses administered in Thailand but no information. If someone can provide the figures to me, they will be appreciated. I have received my 5th jab of Pfizer.
