  1. In Pattaya I haven't seen a balcony railing yet that I couldn't easily climb over, and a few that I could accidentally fall over.
  2. The original Thai article probably used fai-chɔ́t, which means to shock with electricity, rather than tùuk-fai-chɔ́t-dtaai, which includes the word for death. But if I look up fai-chɔ́t it says: shock (electrocute), which may be the reason for the misleading headline.
  3. It's not over, especially for the old farts (and I know I'm not the only one on here). If you catch it and recover it turns out you've still significantly increased your chances of dementia. Risk factor for developing Alzheimer's disease increases by 50-80% in older adults who caught COVID-19 https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2022/09/220913140850.htm
  4. I've paid a departure tax in other countries. A lot more than 50 baht.
  5. Exactly. He doesn't need that money now anyway. His new scam of getting millions of chumps to send him money is a solid gold renewable source of funds. If he tears the country apart while doing so, well so be it. Trump is all that matters to Trump.
  6. I guess I have missed the point. Can you explain?
  7. I was being sarcastic. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  8. Do you think in, for example, Australia they say in the headline "Australian man does x" or in the US "American man does..."? No country does that. It's the default.
  9. Absolutely. Who do they think they are, testing to see what's really happening? They should just ignore it and hope for the best. I mean seriously, what possible benefit could there be to knowing what's going on?
  10. I had surgery done at Bumrungrad. I has basal cell carcinoma on my nose. Doc had to cut out a disc about the size of a one baht coin (bigger than it sounds, try it) and replace it with skin from behind my ear. The surgeon usually does face lifts and such, but of course also this type of surgery. It's delicate, as it has to be done without cutting all the way through, yet still going deep enough to remove all the cancer. After he cut it out the nurse ran (literally) to the pathologist who examined it while we waited. All the perimeters were clean, so then he placed the graft. He did a fantastic job and I'm extraordinarily pleased with the result. Six months later now and people don't even notice. You can see it if you know about it, but it blends in quite well. A interesting side effect is that when he sewed behind the ear he lifted the skin a bit, so now that side of my face looks slightly younger than the other. In follow-up visits we had several good conversations. He takes a lot of pride in his work and strives for perfection (my impression, not his words) in every surgery. If I ever decide on cosmetic surgery I will talk to him first. Unfortunately I can't remember his name right now and I don't have any paperwork handy. But he's in the plastic surgery center there. His English is very good and he's very easy to talk to. Cost for my procedure was 140,000 baht.
