  1. 6 comments, 2 "brown envelope" jokes. It just never gets old, I guess.
  2. ——V———_______——X———_______——X———_______——X———_______——X Legend: — 800k min, _400k min, V Visa, X Extension
  3. Interesting. I'd not heard of that. From looking at the site, though, it says you get a reservation, not a ticket. Is that good enough?
  4. Natural selection is always at work. It's just that "fittest" might not be what you want it to be.
  5. You get a new visa every year? An extension is relatively cheap. I did it for more than a decade pre-covid, and I think it was something like 1,900 baht per year. I don't remember exactly, but it wasn't a lot.
  6. "Do not iron clothes while wearing them"
  7. Sounds like what he really needed was legs, not arms.
  8. The headline says worth 34M baht, which is currently about US$900,000
  9. Always good to have someone to blame. If not for "them" everything would be just peachy.
  10. They're buying cheap baht now. When the dollar eventually eases they might buy it back at a profit.
  11. Many generations have had questions like this. What did people do before smart phones? What did people do before the internet? What did people do before TV? What did people do before radio? What did people do before electricity? etc. One day it'll be ubiquitous augmented reality, then virtual reality, then the computers take over and keep inventing new forms of entertainment to pacify the meat-creatures. ????
  12. I've purchased from apple.com/th many times using a US credit card, including one item I later returned. All went smoothly, free delivery on everything and free pickup for the return.
  13. You do sweat while swimming but you don't notice it. Nordic walking you may have seen. It's using the poles and is supposed to be very good for working many groups of muscles. Still looks a bit silly to me, but that's my problem, not theirs. It would also help with the knee.
  14. In Pattaya I haven't seen a balcony railing yet that I couldn't easily climb over, and a few that I could accidentally fall over.
  15. The original Thai article probably used fai-chɔ́t, which means to shock with electricity, rather than tùuk-fai-chɔ́t-dtaai, which includes the word for death. But if I look up fai-chɔ́t it says: shock (electrocute), which may be the reason for the misleading headline.
  16. It's not over, especially for the old farts (and I know I'm not the only one on here). If you catch it and recover it turns out you've still significantly increased your chances of dementia. Risk factor for developing Alzheimer's disease increases by 50-80% in older adults who caught COVID-19 https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2022/09/220913140850.htm
  17. I've paid a departure tax in other countries. A lot more than 50 baht.
