I've just come across an article, dated today in a well known rival news service that the government are wanting to discourage all travel by cutting services by around 90%. Your friend's going to have to move fast!

In a few days it will be 100% stuck where they are as no trains, buses and domestic flights will be suspended.

Their website is showing the same message that they are closed due to the covid-19 virus.

I haven't done any extensions yet this is my first attempt.

Would they require the same document if you would it extend it for 60 days for visiting your wife instead of the yearly extension?

Been saying this for some time, sods law though that today I felt I shouldn't put things off any longer with my current 90 day permission to stay expiring on 10 April. So went along to local Immigration Office in Kalasin and paid the 1,900 baht for a 60 day extension. I came in on a now expired non O multiple entry visa based on marriage back in January.

Had intended no go to Savanakhet to get a new one, but of course can't do that.

The office was busy but staff still pleasant and efficient enough and my " order" was fulfilled in just over an hour, against a displayed target time of 50 minutes. There is sometimes an advantage to living in the sticks! Only 3 other Europeans there at the same time, the rest were all of Asian appearance

    Extraordinary times!

I got to do my 60 day extension at Kalasin immigration as well by the end of April. What exact documents did you need to get the extension?.

    Thanks,

what do respect about thais. The fact that they blame everyone except themselves ? Their lack of education and common sense ? Their belief in amulets rather than safety ? Their belief that the laws of the road, and others, only apply to others ? Their belief that wearing a mask, while riding the wrong  way down a road, with no licence , insurance , tax, , 4 people to a bike, and then blame the farang when they have an accident ? Belief that it is the right if thais only, to wear a mask if they wish, but not for farangs to do so ? Their Belief that it is always the farangs fault, never theirs ? Would be good if you would tell us exactly what it is you respect in Thais ?

    Bravo, Well said!????

    What do you mean?

If you're talking about the two months visa for visiting your wife, it's working.

You need the original marriage certificate and a copy of it.

      And your Thai wife.

Some guy reported that his immigration office needs an updated marriage certificate ans well as the old one to get the 60 day Non O extension for visiting the wife which I found very odd as never herd of that before?.

If married to or the parent of a Thai you can apply for a 60 day extension to visit them.

If not then the most you can get is 30 days.

Thanks for clearing that up Joe, but the big worrying question is once that 60 day extension ends and if things dont a approve with boarders still closed then what?...Can we get a further 30 day extension with embassy letter?

I have a flight tonight Melbourne-London Heathrow via BKK. I've been to the doctors and got a certificate, although it's not the one on THAI website and she's stated I'm symptom free. I have travel insurance taken out a few months ago (before Covid), what are my chances of getting through? I know it's all speculation, and I'm going to give it a go - any insights gratefully received ????

Nobody can give you an answer regarding your odds getting in Thailand. You know the requirements, find out yourself at the check in counter as either they will give you your boarding pass or they wont. It least you wont have to fly the 12 hours and be denied in Bangkok.

Are these restrictions for entering land boarders as well?...If so I can see it being a big problem for guys doing their multi Non O or multi Tourist visa in/out boarder runs in the near future being stranded at any land crossing denied entry in Thailand. I'm sure we will get reports from the ground in the upcoming days.

this will discourage many who are entertaining ideas of visiting thailand, like myself.  it would be a shame to get all the necessaries,  buy a ticket, fly 20 hours and arrive in bkk only to be told that some document doesn't have an i dotted or a t crossed.

You wont have to worry to fly 20 hours just to get denied as they wont even let you board the plane unless you have those two requirements as the new mandate was sent to all airlines.

  10. My only advice to the OP after buyers several second hand cars is I can say never ever buy a used car from a "THAI"........There are many reasons, the first is the price. A Thai person will sell you their used car with very high klm for ridiculously high price where on the second hand a foreigner will sell you the exact same car with a third of the klm on it for almost 30-50% less. I recommend facebook or bhatsold as many falang selling their cars there. I bought a 2008 chevy optra last year with only 95,000klm from a Russian guy in Pattaya for 115,000 bht. Runs great, never a problem. The same car I seen for sale from a Thai, 2 years new with double the klm for 165,000bht.

The government issued a directive few years back that under the 30baht scheme even private hospitals cannot refuse to freely treat a Thai, however in practice maybe impossible.

Any private hospital will ask for insurance details almost immediately from a farang or Thai.

However Bangkok hospital charging 25 k for a Covid screen is disgusting but aimed at wealthy thais knowing that the insurance will pick up the tab.

The whole point under the dire emergency circumstances it should be free testing for anyone with symptoms to avoid the spread.....

Perhaps the head numb nuts could finally honour his word and make masks and sanitizer freely available to buy nationwide.................one month now locally and still SOLLY NO HAB.

The 30 bht scheme is for only government hospitals. My wife was told they by several privet hospitals including Bangkok hospital that she wont be covered under the 30 bht healthcare scheme an to go to the government hospital.
