  1. My understanding is the seal uses different material for the casing Some Seal owners are buying an aftermarket product to increase the protection of the underbody not for rodent issues for what they see as other potential road hazard's that people may encounter on the roads https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100063619101882
  2. Point Your not a mod on this forum so you don't get the right to tell other members to shut up As the original poster of this topic doesn't give you any increased rights over and above any other forum member And your incorrect in your assessment about me I am not an EV hater but equally I am not someone that take's much notice to a social media influencer can't cope with negative feedback This is why people that are interested in EV's have no time for social media influencer who throw they toys out of their prams because someone posts concerns about EV's I have yet to see a single post from you that you have concerns over an EV Brands request owners to remove any posts before providing any assistance as shown here Hello, I'm the owner of the case who came out to report information. Feet that gather together and look at posting questions in the group. About the light show Now there are more than 10 cases and the center requests car owners not to come out and speak https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ZDSQqwW0sU This facebook post indicates that some brands are aware of the problem and are offering aftermarket products to reduce similar occurrences https://www.facebook.com/groups/bydthailand/permalink/715885103851607 Here is another post different car model same problem https://www.facebook.com/groups/dolphinthailand/permalink/598617192323499 https://droidsans.com/byd-dolphin-issue/ Here another post https://www.facebook.com/groups/bydthailand/permalink/685134576926660
  3. The video that you posted is off topic as per your rules original post as this topic is Electric Vehicles in Thailand and the video is from Australia
  4. One of the links was from @EVUsersCommunityThailand Good information from real EV users https://www.youtube.com/@EVUsersCommunityThailand Where most of the videos discuss EV pros and cons Here is another case where the driver The right tire exploded on both the front and rear wheels. The repair cost has been offered from BYD with a total value of 1,167,571.16 baht, including the cost of replacing the battery worth up to 896,190 baht. https://ch3plus.com/news/economy/weekend/337287
  5. It could be that in your 50 yrs of driving none of the vehicles you were driving decided to cover a major component in plastic
  6. Or in your case MG ZS with metal battery casing and modular batteries
  7. Mice gnaw on BYD ATTO3 and BYD Dolphin batteries. What can EV car owners do besides make peace? Now there are more than 10 cases and the center requests car owners not to come out and speak because if there are a lot of them. Then there was a lawsuit. in Thai law Regarding consumer protection, it is even necessary to return the money to return the car and buy the car back, like the latest car company https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ZDSQqwW0sU Not an isolate case many reports on youtube EV Easy Talk, consult about problems of EV 12 BYD Atto3, the battery was chewed by a mouse, total damage is 600,000 baht.
  8. They will only be of value to 2nd hand market when you have the expertise of EV cars with skilled mechanics with expertise in EV, outside the brand service centre's The author also states Despite these concerns, the EV market remains one of our top priorities in 2024," he said. https://www.nationthailand.com/business/corporate/40033774
  9. When the article stated " EV wrecks have no value" they are stating that there is no value in the secondary market for disassembling their spare parts. At the moment if you claim for replacement battery using car insurance then the wreck is owned by the insurance company I am sure they have a agreement in place to sell the wreck back to the brand manufacturer If anyone chooses to repair their car without insurance they can do what ever they want with the wreck but i can't imagine many people have taken the pay myself repair option over insurance claim EV cars require skilled mechanics with expertise in EV, which is now limited to the brand's service centres.
  10. Strange post coming from someone that posted "but I am already salivating about getting my hands on a 50+ kWh battery pack on the cheap" Here is someone that car has been out of action for 64 days due to Rat biting plastic battery pack total bill B710,405 https://www.facebook.com/groups/bydthailand/permalink/715885103851607 I don't think you will find any ev batteries on the cheap
  11. I suspect EV manufacturer's are retaining all spare parts from wrecks Meanwhile, EV spare parts, particularly batteries, are not repairable, which means if one gets spoilt, the owner must purchase a new one. A new battery costs roughly 50-60% of the price of the car. Furthermore, as a vehicle, EV has its own service life. While other cars' wrecks can be sold in the secondary market for disassembling their spare parts, EV wrecks have no value at all. https://www.nationthailand.com/business/corporate/40033774 According to this article EV wrecks have no value
  12. When looking at EV's you do need to check what material the battery casing is made from Battery packs built into the chassis is a new recent development Majority of battery pack external casings are made of metal but some are made of plastic material that are susceptible to rat bites or can be damaged by large stones on the road which can lead to water entering the battery pack There are reports in the Facebook groups of various brands where vehicles are being written off due to cost of repair for battery replacement exceeding 70% of capital insurance of vehicle
  13. I stated most forum members will have between 40-50 years of driving ICE vehicles that should have given you a clue to the average age of posters on this thread
  14. My point is for EV rentals its more critical for potential renters to check under the car before renting if a rental agency driver slightly damaged the battery pack would they A) withdraw the vehicle from their stock B) advised potential renter that the battery pack has sustained minor damage but the damage doesn't affect the vehicle as far as driving or performance C) doesn't advise potential renter that the battery pack has sustained minor damage but checks and points out to the driver on their return of the vehicle that they will need to submit a claim on their insurance A and B can potential lead to a major cost to the rental agency if they don't have adequate insurance coverage Majority of members on this forum are fully aware of some the jet ski scams where the owner points out damage when you return the jet ski and the problem is that the renter didn't check that area before renting
  15. "Those of us who own multiple EVs and have driven them for years like myself get exasperated at uninformed EV haters trying to tell everyone what it’s like to own an EV. Stop it you are embarrassing yourselves. " When you say you have driven them for years I assume you mean between 5-7 years while most forum members will have between 40-50 years of driving ICE vehicles you see the difference 5-7 years versus 40-50 years
  16. My Post is related to checking under the car on a rental to ensure there is no damage to the external battery casing that the rental company hasn't pointed out to your prior to you renting. most rental's mark when there is existing damage to the bodywork or interior and that's it
  17. Out of Interest how many forum members have been driving EV's for more than 10 years or more , their must be some since EV's have been available mass market since 2008
  18. Clearly you didn't read the op initial port as he made it clear he was looking for feedback from any open minded anti-EV posters. now to me that excludes any of EV fanboys on this forum unless they come under the heading of open minded anti-EV posters As to the rest of your post your making yourself look like a social media influencer that can't cope with negative views about EV's
  19. "When they hear that I am able to travel hundreds and thousands of kilometres on fresh air and sunshine alone, they all wish they have one as well." I am not aware of any EV that can go from Phuket to Bangkok on just fresh air and sunshine are you

  22. Completely disagree I have seen many pictures on this forum and on brand facebook pages where EV's have been written off with relative external minor damage they have been written off because the total cost of the repair exceeds 70% of the total capital insured amount It has been pointed out that some MG models have MG Metal battery cases and Modular batteries I have yet to see a single MG written off due to Modular batteries damaged
  23. Battery packs built into the chassis is a new recent development BYD seal being the 1st prior Petrol or diesel fuel leak tends to leave a strong smell and the fuel tank doesn't cost approx 65%-75% total cost of the vehicle Majority of battery pack external casings are made of metal but some are made of plastic material that are susceptible to rat bites or can be damaged by large stones on the road which can lead to water entering the battery pack as stated if a rental agency driver slightly damaged the battery pack would they A) withdraw the vehicle from their stock B) advised potential renter that the battery pack has sustained minor damage but the damage doesn't affect the vehicle as far as driving or performance C) doesn't advise potential renter that the battery pack has sustained minor damage but checks and points out to the driver on their return of the vehicle that they will need to submit a claim on their insurance A and B can potential lead to a major cost to the rental agency if they don't have adequate insurance coverage
  24. I think that given that the battery pack is approx 65%-75% total cost of the vehicle if you include removal of battery pack costs, replacement battery cost's and re-installation of battery pack both the rental agency and the renter should be taking pictures of the battery pack before rental and end of rental if a rental agency driver slightly damaged the battery pack would they A) withdraw the vehicle from their stock B) advised potential renter that the battery pack has sustained minor damage but the damage doesn't affect the vehicle as far as driving or performance C) doesn't advise potential renter that the battery pack has sustained minor damage but checks and points out to the driver on their return of the vehicle that they will need to submit a claim on their insurance
  25. In Thailand people hang on to a red plate to indicated they have a new car, Build date for cars can be found on sticker attached to bodywork, engine, glass 4th VIN character (letter) represents the Month of manufacture. - 5th & 6th characters (numbers) represent the year of manufacture. - 10th VIN character (letter) represents the Model year. In the UK if you wanted to impress your neighbors' September and March are the months to go for always a huge rush for cars 1st September and 1st March
