  1. VHS lasted longer in the mainstream market than Betamax VHS was superseded by DVD which in turn has been superseded by Blu-ray
  2. I do recall Betamax owners thinking they were the enlightened ones and looked what happened to them
  3. But that hasn't been the case in all models Rover 75 and MG ZT diesel engine models used the same BMW engine M47
  4. And yet both the Rover 75 and the MG version MG ZT are still sought after classic cars 18 years after the last car left the production line https://classicsworld.co.uk/guides/rover-75-buyers-guide/ And received multiple Awards and accolades spanning a period from 1999-2011 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rover_75
  5. Are you sure about who pulls the strings n February 2020, Volvo and Geely announced that they had started formal discussions about a merger of business. Geely had owned 100% of Volvo, but Volvo Cars had largely been allowed autonomy with its resources.[44] These merger talks were later halted, and 18% of Volvo Cars shares were listed on the Nasdaq Stockholm stock exchange in October 2021.[45] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volvo_Cars It would appear while both Brands develop joint ventures , Geely approach with Volvo is while your making a profit for us we will leave you to do your own thing
  6. Actually SAIC didn't buy MG MG was sold to the Nanjing Automobile Group which later merge with SAIC On 15 April 2005, it was announced that SAIC had once again rejected pleas to buy out the company. SAIC seemed to be more interested in the Rover Brand which Ford purchased the vehicle marque from BMW if you look at the old Rover car badge and the Roewe badge they look similar in design and shape https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roewe#:~:text=Roewe https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MG_Rover_Group
  7. People rarely will change political parties on a single issue item as seen with the Lib Dems in 2019 with Jo Swinson and her pledge to revoke Brexit without referendum
  8. Have to wait until Zelensky Ukraine has joined before the EU would consider the UK for any EU accession process and will the support to rejoin remain if the UK has to use the Euro as currency
  9. The MG Mulan which is the Chinese name for the MG4 electric and yes its a LHD its current price in China is RMB 115,800 yuan or B554,334 which means Chinese buyers pay 36% less than anyone buying in Thailand
  10. This article indicates surplus stock hence price reductions In May, a large single shipment of 3,100 MG cars came to Australia, including the long range electric version. The price cuts may have something to do with surplus stock. But it’s good to see savings on EVs being passed onto those looking at making the switch. https://thedriven.io/2023/07/13/mg-slashes-price-of-long-range-version-of-zs-ev-as-electric-car-price-war-intensifies/ https://cnevpost.com/2023/07/13/saic-mg-cuts-mg-mulan-price-by-17-china/
  11. Its not only Telsa that are cutting their prices most brands are suffering from over production producing more vehicles than they can sell As for incentives Lots of unhappy customers in China bought last year when the incentive scheme was closing only to find EV's cheaper in 2023 without incentives
  12. Why would anyone be daft enough to buy an EV at the moment if we look at Tesla how many times have the reduce the price of their vehicles at least 6 or 7 times maybe more
  13. EV sales in Thailand comprised 3% of total automobile sales in 2022.
  14. Personally growth of EV sales is 250% per annum. is misleading without setting a base rate as I said if the base rate is 10 EV's and the growth rate is 250% per annum that equals 25 EV's normally when people want to hide numbers they only ever list %
  15. I think most people are aware when sales are one decline that prices go down as a result. Anyone that bought a new chevrolet and paid close to retail price end of January 2020 must have been gutted 3 weeks later when chevrolet announced 50% discount on a number of models I read as soon as chevrolet announced exit from Thailand all finance on new chevrolet was stopped
  16. 100% electric vehicle registrations in Thailand in July 2023 total 5,116 units | -33% decrease https://autolifethailand.tv/ev-bev-register-thailand-july-2023/ So EV sales in Thailand for July are down -33% or 2,521 EV's less sold than in June
  17. Its funny when people post % if base line figure was 10 and you sold a further 25 per annum that would give you a growth rate of 250% per annum. VW electric car sales “fall to zero” as Tesla and China EV makers win price war Executives at some VW plants said demand for particular battery-electric models had fallen “to zero,” while car dealers pointed to a general reluctance of European consumers to buy electric cars, blaming subsidy cuts, high inflation and comparatively high prices. https://thedriven.io/2023/07/12/vw-electric-car-sales-fall-to-zero-as-tesla-and-china-ev-makers-win-price-war/ US EV market struggles with price cuts and rising inventories Rising inventories and price-cutting could represent only a short-term pause in EV market growth. But they could be signals that boosting U.S. EV sales above the current 7% market share level will be more costly and difficult than expected, even with federal and state subsidies. https://www.reuters.com/business/autos-transportation/slow-selling-evs-are-auto-industrys-new-headache-2023-07-11/ Tesla's EV Sales in China Fell More Than 30% in July https://www.investopedia.com/tesla-s-ev-sales-in-china-fell-more-than-30-last-month-7569265 So that is US ,Europe and China where EV sales are on the decline
  18. I can understand the A380 being better than the 777 in economy but does the same apply in Business as 777 are shown here with 12 inches more leg room and 2 inches more seat width https://www.seatguru.com/airlines/Emirates_Airlines/fleetinfo.php
  19. It could be that The Thaiger is incorrect unless things have changed Ubonjoe posted an image listing the various fines and bans for anyone turning up at the airport and for those found by the police I remember it being B20,000 fine and 5 year ban for 3 year overstay
  20. I was looking business class 3 months ago Return flight BKK-LHR best prices in May was Gulf Air B61K September price now is B81K I guess May low season and September is start of peak season
  21. I don't think anyone can answer that as it will always come down to different factors on the day of the flight The way to look at it if the upgrade offers look good value for money to you then go for it, if you unsure and not really bothered but think if can get another 30% off then wait
  22. If you want to compare Seat pitch and Seat width check out this website and also check what the airline states as sometimes they do change their seat configurations For Emirates their 777 seats are wider than the A380 seats 777-300ER seat pitch 60 seat width 20.5 A380-800 seat pitch 48 seat width 18.5 now if you compare with for example Gulf Air 787-8 seat pitch 83 seat width 36.0 Qatar Airways A380-800 seat pitch 78 seat width 21.5 as far as A380-800 planes Emirates offer the least amount of seat pitch and seat width compare with all other airlines using same aircraft Similar results for 777-300ER although Emirates seat width is 20.5 compared to Etihad seat width 20.0 All headings are sortable https://www.seatguru.com/charts/longhaul_business_class.php
  23. I think you missed the key message she was trying to get over "Airlines don’t throw around upgrades to anyone and everyone who will take them. Upgrades, especially free ones, are a rare occurrence. I have now flown business class a few times and despite the plane being at high occupancy, there have always been oodles of available seats in business class. Put simply, airlines won’t upgrade unless they have to" I got a free upgrade once from economy to First class and yes they are rare I tend to fly premium economy now but i always check the seat pitch ( distance between your seat and the seat in Front and they type of seats I prefer the ridged fixed shell seats which means everyone reclines within their own seat you pay for a seat and a defined amount of space and then some moron in front of you takes away 30% of your space by fully reclining their seat
  24. Here is someone that received the email upgrade offer and didn't go for it but when they were at the check-in desk they were offered a free upgrade to Business class once again Economy was full https://worldofwanderlust.com/the-truth-behind-how-to-get-a-business-class-upgrade/ example family of 4 want 4 economy seats they have just turn up at the airport on the off chance problem is there are only 3 economy seats available and they will be paying top dollar for these economy seats in this scenario would get double bubble if they can get someone to pay for a business upgrade but they would also come out ahead by offering 1 person a free upgrade
