  1. Good morning experts. I have two 12 year old Mitsu 12000 Mr Slim, on/off air cons in my 36 sq mtr lounge, 3 metres apart on the outside wall. Last month I bought a TLC Inverter 12000 from Lazada as it was a very good price, Bht 7500, including delivery. My local man came on Sunday and charged me Bht 3000 to remove one of the old ones and fit the TLC. I decided to compare the efficiency/power usage between the two. I have a ‘smart’ thingy in my fuse box (CU) which sends the electricity consumption to my phone. I turned everything off on the breakers and tested each air con individually setting each at 28C, normal cooling for 20 minutes and recorded the number of units used. Then I did it with the Economy button pressed. Here are my results. TCL. Normal = 0.50 units, Eco = 0.35, which equates to 1.5 and 1.0 per hour. Mitsu. Normal = 0.34 units, Eco = 0.28 per hour, 1.0 and 0.72 per hour. So the old one seems to use less electricity than the new TLC over the period of one hour. WHY? Also, I wonder exactly how the units work. I know from testing myself that they both pump out cool air at 17-18C. They drawn in air from the room into the top, through the exchanger and back out into the room, until the temperature sensor measures that the air going in is at the temperature you have set on the remote. Then it turns off, or slows down, until that rises, then it turns back on. If you want the room to be cooler, it simply takes longer for the cool air to mix with the room’s air until the desired temperature is reached. The outside temperature is irrelevant, only that the room can get hotter if insulation, windows, curtains etc are not considered and allow the room to heat up. Can someone explain IN SIMPLE TERMS, no scientific formulae please? Thank you. I am considering another TLC as they are on offer on Lazada tonight, 10/10. But if the difference in the cost of running the old one is the same or less than the TLC, which will cost me about Bht 11k including fitting, what will be my return on cost per year? OK, a warranty on the TLC, one year on the TLC card, 5 years on Lazada????
  2. Is that a FULL TEN, more than 9, less than 11 who are stopping tourists from visiting Pattaya?
  3. What's the deciding factor between Heavy and Very Heavy rain, anyone, please?
  4. Must have an official stamp?
  5. You can transfer from Wise to any bank you want to, almost anywhere in the World. I do it regularly to my lads in Dubai, GBP to AED takes seconds.
  6. If you'd have kept the Bkk Bank account, you would be able to transfer Wise to Bkk and not pay Bht 220 every time you use Wise ATM card.
  7. This certainly is NOT in Inverter unit. See my conversation with GG regarding EER. 3.33 per watt is pretty dismal. There are NEW TCL 12000 BTU inverters on Lazada tomorrow for less than Bht 8000. Get one.
  8. As an off-topic aside. This is what the TCL instructions say 2.Save video clip By shooting a picture around the product box and the cover page with the name And the address of the recipient Including the product model clearly, then record the continuous video clip on the same clip only without editing the video While unpacking the product box until the product is installed and activated successfully. It was two weeks before the Fitter came, and it took him 3 hours. That would be one hell of a long video, unclipped!
  9. I wonder whether it is better to convert your GBP (or USD) into THB first and then send THB to THB. That's how I do it with never any problems, and you can convert when the rate looks a little better.
  10. Do they send it quickly cos they think you need to buy Tampax for the Mrs? 555
  11. Make and age should clarify that.
  12. Correct. I think I shall go out and do the same after tonight's dose! 555
  13. Started on a Friday afternoon, with a Monday Bank Holiday?
  14. Anything other than Long Stay or Property purchase are usually instant unless over a certain limit, of which I do not know. Did a couple of 20k & 30k last week = Instant.
  15. Initiated a Long Term Bht 35000 transfer from UK to Bkk Bank yesterday morning at 6am our time. Arrived, as usual, at 14.02 the same day, as an International Transfer.
  16. Most home air cons have two units, that's why they are called SPLIT a/cs. The older 'conventional' on/off machines were exactly that, on or off. A large amount of lekky is used to start the compressor up from stopped. Inverters vary the speed of the compressor motor so that it does not stop, merely changes as required. Although Inverters are almost unique these days, the first WAS invented by Toshiba in 1981, but only in the last 10 years have they become easily available.
  17. Or maybe the Inspectors should be contributing.
  18. https://www.google.com/search?q=What+SEER+is+a+good+aircon&oq=What+SEER+is+a+good+aircon&gs_lcrp=EgZjaHJvbWUyBggAEEUYOdIBCDc2OTlqMGoxqAIAsAIA&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8 A SEER of 24 is excellent if you can get a unit at that. But how can it be Seasonally Adjusted for say Thailand vs USA? Just asking! You advise me to divide the BTUs by the power, which varies as the temperature gets to the desired temperature to get the EER. What is a good/ideal EER please?. https://ptac4less.com/blog/good-eer-rating-ac/#:~:text=However%2C you generally want to,EER of 8.5 and above. Just found this. My 12000 BTU starts at 2000 watts, but then reduces to around 1000, so I guess it's EER is about 12, so I am happy with it. Thanks for the info.
  19. Got a TCL 12000 inverter from Lazada on 9/9 for Bht 7500! But my local man charged 3000 for fitting, cables, pipes, insulation etc. 2 hours work. Good or not?
  20. Were Inverters available that long ago?
  21. Aircon giving hot water? How please?
