I entered with a new UK passport in May with a re-entry visa in my old, washed out passport. Obviously I was allowed back in as the re-entry was flagged up on their computer. Went to Immigration in August to report 90 days, and they transferred my stamps at the same time.

My IO will only do a new 90 days if it is within the acceptable dates, 14 before and 7 after I think.

How do you come to that conclusion please? I did re-read the OP who says his GF needs to know the basics before driving in traffic. I merely asked whether or not she knew the basics before passing her test, which seems to make sense to me. How is it in your country, passing driving test before knowing the basics? You do not have to use One Drive if you do not want. I, however, think it is great. ALL my data files are up there in't Cloud, also on my local hard drives, and on back-up drives.
