Bangkok Bank Are At It Again!
I have a US$ account with Bangkok Bank. Recently I wanted to transfer some US$ back to the UK. Instead of sending the funds direct as US$ or converting to Sterling first, they insisted on converting US$ into Baht and then into Sterling. TWO transactions with a loss on the conversion rate, when only one transaction was needed. I ended up reporting them to the Bank Of Thailand, who have a consumer affairs dept at Building 7, top of the Western end of Wisutkasart Rd, under the Rama VIII bridge flyover. (Go any further and you are in the river). BOT sorted it and I got a call from the Bangkok Bank. Job done. Roadrunner is transferring his lavish patronage to SCB, which seems to be Thailand's only genuine bank.

Philippines is off my list !!!!
McDonalds Manila:- To the left of the door was the figure of Ronald the clown. To the right, a security guard with sawn off shotgun. The comparison was something I could not get my head around. I got chatting to the security guard, he was an ok guy. I asked if he had or would ever shoot someone, he replied... oh yeah. Yep, the stale food is that bad in DaPhils.

Obtaining Driving Licence Phuket
I am licenced in the UK for seven types of vehicle, from motorcycle to articulated road train. Yet I still can't get a Thai licence. Bangkok DLT wanted me to sit through 5 hours of boring Thai videos, like a Thai soap opera. I refused and walked out before it gave me brain damage.

Advice on leaving a car parked up for a long time
Gasohol is highly corrosive to the fuel system and unsuitable for many older cars. Susco Sinopec do have a Benzine 95, which as far as I know, contains only gasoline. It is also cheaper than competitors. Caltex also have straight 95 gasoline, as do some, but not all, PTT stations.

The Book of Enoch > removed from the Bible
That would mean then that Enoch was Jesus, who himself was quoted as saying I am the first and the last.

Advice on leaving a car parked up for a long time
You will likely find that the fuel injectors will need replacing on your return as gasoline will have dried up hard and blocked them inside. Unless it is a diesel, then you might get away with it due to the oil content. Leave the handbrake off or you may find the brakes have seized on. Leave it in gear so it cannot roll away or follow the next comment:- Rather than over inflate the tyres you could leave the car on jack stands with its wheels off the ground. This also helps to stop someone stealing it. Leave it under cover or dirt, tree sap and leaves plus the sun will ruin the paint. I would not worry about the fluids in the car as they will be ok.

Thailand Tourism Takes a Hit in 2025 as Foreign Visits Drop
Quality tourists? With China, Russia and and India topping the list? The zenophobic Thais are forever trying to find ways to get our money without getting us!

Renewing an out of date DL
You have a better suggestion?

Renewing an out of date DL
My UK Licence has expired. Getting a new one from the DVLA online proved impossible as their website refused my application (no reason given). So I wrote to them. Their response was:- 1. Visit a UK Post Office. 2. Apply by mail using Form D1 from the Post Office, (but they will not post it back to me outside the UK). So I went to DLT Bangkok where I showed them my expired UK Licence. They wanted me to watch 5 hours of videos and take a written test. The video was like a Thai soap opera, no way could I sit through 5 hours of that <deleted>. So I came away with nothing. All this after obtaining a health certificate, a certificate of residence from immigration and a TM30 from my Landlord. Apparently it is easy with DLT if you have a valid UK Licence.

Bangkok Immigration charge a fee too. However, if you are willing to collect it yourself a week later, then there is no fee. Phuket Immigration charge 500. Amazing Thai interpretation of the rules.

Pretty serious crisis with my girlfriend.
Unbelievable, the mess some guys get in over Thai women. How would this affect your bank account? You didn't make her a joint account holder did you? In which case your account is already empty. Most of em have a Thai boyfriend. We are just a walking ATM.

New car manufacture date?
As a former car salesman we used to love selling new old stock. A car could have been in stock for up to 3 years before it got sold. We would charge the latest current full retail price, even though it was bought in several price increases ago. Result; more profit!
