Maybe it is a Buddhist thing? All is impermanence. A westerner likes to plant roots, buy a house, have security. But in Asia, all is in a state of constant flux. (You spell flux any way you like!).
What gets me is the total lack of consideration for those Farang who have Thai families, where the senseless regulations are hurting their own Thai people. Or is this just due to the Thai famed lack of ability to think, organise or plan ahead? .... Ah well, where there is no sense, there is no feeling.

Antifreeze has uses besides guarding against freezing. Plus it has stuff mixed in to guard against corrosion of iron and alloy......
True.... but I long lost count of the number of cars that develop radiator leaks immediately after adding antifreeze. It eats into any weakness in the cooling system. Better to use coolant.

Related subject, not wishing to highjack the thread. Can anyone recommend a good laptop repair shop? Prefer Chatuchak / Nonthaburi area but anywhere in Bkk is ok. Thanks.

Do not worry, in this country if you are mentally unstable you will blend right in! None of us who have lived with the Thais long term still have all our marbles in the bag.
Just doing business with the Thais gave me brain damage.
Judging from the way you write I would say your head is still screwed on straight. Try and get off the medications if you can, they all have side effects.
As for bringing meds into the country, a reasonable amount is allowed for personal use, but best to have a prescription or doctors note.

Maybe hard to find. Have you considered having the box rebuilt by a Ford dealer? Get an estimate first.
Used parts.... Try a Google Map search..... Soi Chiang Kong Bang Na 1, Bang Phli Yai, Bang Phli District, Samut Prakan
Street after street of used parts.... mostly Japanese, but you would buy a Ford in Thailand!

thanks for that. perhaps you could give me your guess on my chances of passing the pearly gates into heaven
You just better hope God is not a Thai! Though that might explain why things are so effed up down here.

Why give someone a 12 month retirement visa if he has to report every 90 days? Nuts.
And just how do they expect to encourage people to invest here when company executives have to report their every move by TM30? Stupid!
Every country has daft regulations but the Thai regs display a total lack of basic common sense.

Last time I came in on a Tourist Visa. They asked to see my return ticket.... “No hab” I said. Told em I would convert to Retirement Visa and showed I had one before. No problem.

Just two words that describe Thailand perfectly. And they wonder why less tourists are coming.

So why give people a visa if you are going to turn them away?

They were told that as from next year NO foreigners would be allowed to be Directors of Companies that own land,
Did they say what will happen to those who already owned property this way?

The company needs to be active and paying tax. Anyhow, I had been expecting this, Thai Govt tightening the screws on everything. Going to have to find other ways around it if they enact this law.
What gets me mad is we are allowed to own a house, but not the land. If one owns a house just where do they expect you to put it?

Do not use antifreeze, it is not needed in this country and it is corrosive. Best to use coolant, which is anti-corrosive.
If the car is old and the water dirty or rusty you might want to flush the system clean first with a product like Rad Flush.
Not uncommon to find Thais just use plain water, without coolant.... result... rust and blocked radiator.
It is so cheap to get it done at a garage, why bother doing it yourself?

I reckon MG stands for Mandarin Garages.... or could it be Must be Gullible?
Expect heavy depreciation as not yet well established in Thailand.

If they do not want or trust us to live in their country and want to come around checking on us then that is their problem at their expense. Feed an animal and it keeps coming around for more hand outs. I have a soft spot for my fellow animals, but for immigration the soft spot I have in mind would be some quicksand.

Food selection is rubbish, it's always fish/seafood (I'm allergic) or chicken (which I don't eat), in fact they handed me the shrimp without asking as they'd run out of chicken by the time they got to me. I used to take the vegetarian option but nowadays I just fill up in the lounge and don't bother on the plane
Did you know that with most airlines you can phone them a few days in advance and order special food? They have Gluten free, vegetarian and others available. I get some strange looks from other passengers though.... why is that guys food different?

Having read this thread I get the feeling it is not much fun being an air stewardess (flying waitress). Jet lagged and trapped for hours with hundreds of often grumpy passengers in cramped conditions.... what can we expect? I admire the way some of them keep their cool when abused by passengers.
As for the food, it has to be prepared hours before and kept heated on the flight, so one cannot expect it to taste like it came from a five star Michelin restaurant. If I had to complain I would say there is often just not enough food and I am left hungry.
Try flying Aeroflot, you will never complain about the other airlines ever again! We got a one inch thick doorstep of Russian black bread, a boiled chicken that looked like it had been starved to death and half a cucumber that a bar girl could do a live show with. Totally unreliable, it took 44 hours Bkk to London!
I am about to make a trip to Germany, which is the best airline?

Used car salesmen have a shady reputation worldwide
As a former car salesman, Da Roadrunner is offended. I demand satisfaction and challenge you to a race.
Your main problem here is finding something worth buying. If a Thai is selling there is often something wrong with the car or its papers. Another common problem is the Thai registration book states when the car was registered in Thailand. However, it may have been manufactured years earlier and imported as a used car.... check the VIN number. They are also up to all sorts of tricks to cover up accident damage. Some used Thai cars are so bent they go down the road like a crab goes down the beach.
You might do better buying privately than from a dealer. Then sell your existing car privately or let a dealer sell it for you.
Take someone with you who really knows about cars. Or make it a condition of purchase that a main dealer checks the car before you part with your cash or sign anything. If the seller does not like that, walk away.

Gentlemen, could we please stick to the original question posed by the OP thank you. A list of GOOD hospitals.
Yes, I know.... I expect this to be the shortest list ever on Thai Visa!
Question regarding purchase of used car from banks
in Thailand Motor Discussion
Posted
I would think that the bank will require the car to be registered in her name if they are loaning the money to her. I doubt they care who drives it and will not ask to see her driving licence either. They will want to put their bank stamp in the reg book though.
