Someone should have told her, we come here for the 'Oyster' not the Clam.

We are so fortunate to live in a country where headed note paper and a rubber stamp can be made for a few hundred Bats. Amazing Thailand!

Perhaps we don't spend as much as tourists on short holidays here? Yet I wonder how long it will take the Thais to realise that we so called Non Residents, stay here and spend money all year round and are therefore of greater value to Thailand's economy.
Perhaps when the light dawns, they will re-consider and not insult us with 90 day reports and TM30's to our Parole Officers?

They had the westerners, then the Russian invasion of Pattaya, (until the Ruble went tits up). Recently it was the Chinese, (who judging from their open mouthed gawping expression, did not know quite what to make of it). And now they say the Indians are coming.
The way they are going on, how long will it be before the Thais run out of nationalities that want to visit?

4000 baht!??? Where do I send my complaint to Pattaya Police that they paid too much? Can't have the BIB running up our prices like this.

Am I missing something here? Why must Thai Police print these huge posters displaying their prowess? And it says "Overstay".... wow is this such a crime it deserves a poster?

Really this just screwed up for me how I wanted to start a much longer trip to other parts of Asia, Aus, and NZ. I was looking forward to this journey starting with visiting parts of the country I have never had time to get to. Because I actually really like Thailand and most Thai people. Losing that is worse than spending 3 days bored and annoyed. But it's ruined now.
And, based on plenty of time to converse, I know this place is now ruined for everyone else I have shared this room with. Those living here will be moving away for good , and the tourists will definitely never return, nor will their friends and family ever come here on a trip.
This hasn't been- oh just get on the next plane out. It's been being locked in a room where you rely on random visits by airline security employee offering to take money buy you food and water a few times a day. And having two beds for three complete strangers , etc.
Living quarters , along with a small love seats, to the side, for 2-3 grown siting together all day and sleeping at night. Go ahead and say "i must be your fault" , But you come do this for 3 days when you had a valid visa issued by an embasy
Perhaps the Tourist Authority of Thailand would like to use this as a promotional photo?
It appears the OP had a valid visa and this is how he was treated. It's about time our embassies issued a travel warning for Thailand (don't hold your breath waiting!).

And I would like to know if there's any chance of permanent residency. Being a perpetual tourist is for nomads.
All foreigners are perpetual tourists in Thailand.
Some one on a 1 year retirement visa has no more rights than someone on a 30 day visa exempt stamp.
Vietnam offers a 2 year Residency Card, but like I said, a lot of expats are married to Vietnamese Nationals, so they get a 5 year multi entry visa for around $50USD, which is a great deal.
We are all Nomads on this planet. Your lifetime Visa expires when you die. Nothing is permanent, we can't keep anything.

And a load of money ($25,000) sitting in the bank in Thai baht.
In Cambodia that same money could be banked in Dollars earning 6-8% pa ($2,000), enough money to pay your yearly rent.
What sort of a place do you get for that price?

live in a super fun, virtually lawless country that caters to men where the cost of living is exponentially less?
Now I remember why I came here. Things have changed a lot since then, except perhaps, for the virtually lawless bit.

The cost of going to Yorkshire seems a bit much just to get a cheap beer. And you mentioned 'Ales' which are generally revolting, I only drink lager if I'm drinking beer
As any Brit will tell you, Lager isn't beer. Real Ale is real beer. Unfortunately there is absolutely no other reason to visit the UK.
If you want a good Real Ale (available in Thailand) try this stuff.

How about transferring it to your daughter? Presumably she is a Thai citizen and so can own it without a company.
Instead of closing, the company could be declared dormant, thus avoiding taxes and final audit.
I would go with an accountant in preference to a lawyer wherever possible.

Depends on the criteria, lets get our priorities right here....I always define the cost of living in a country by the cost of getting laid.
Which is beginning to cost the same, if not more than in the Netherlands or Germany
Yes, but have you seen their women?.... Ugh.... And have you forgotten the attitude they have?

I'm a bit puzzled by the figures. They don't allow for all those who jumped off balconies and therefore never left Thailand or renewed their visas. The way Immigration are going, when a farang flies off a balcony they will check his TM30 before they check if he's still alive....... Yep, left his residence (via the balcony) and didn't file a TM30. ........ Damn, this ones on overstay but we can't fine him cuz he's dead.
Then of course there are the ones whose visa status is unknown as they were found to carry no papers, stoned out of their mind, walking naked around Pattaya. Ooops, not suitably dressed for Immigration.
The figures also fail to take into account those still stuck waiting at CW Immigration.
Well, did you expect me to take this looney toon country seriously?

If you go from a 14" wheel to a 15" you are going to raise the overall gearing, which may cause your car to be too high geared when setting off from a standstill. To avoid this you would need a lower profile tyre, problem here is your ride would then get harder. There is always a trade off. Plus the wheels start at over 4000 Bats each.
You mention you want grip... so avoid the Yokohamas mentioned above. The Michelin is a good tyre with long life but expect road noise.
On a small economy car it just isn't worth spending the money. Save money, stick with the same wheels, go with the Dunlops, they'll do what you need.
Some say Deestone are ok but I have never tried em.
Take the money you saved and spend it wisely.... on beer n pussy.

Don't think I want to eat in any restaurant that has seating for the rich and separate seating for the poor.
As for our brave 'man' slapping a waitress.... Hiso think they can do what they like, and Thai society being what it is, they often get away with it. She probably gets paid 300 Bats / day so she is low class in Thai society.
Could your Thai- GF live with that?
