  1. Get a mortgage in NZ, and pay it off. You will be forced to save, and the property will increase in value with inflation. You may be able to sell it off early if there is a spike in property values. Then transfer to a Thai bank as a lump sum, and there's no argument about where the money comes from.

No way. Bad timing. Australia is experiencing a bubble burst as property prices tumble and buying at the top of the market is foolish.
    NZ usually follows ozzie trends.
I think the OP is waaay ahead if himself. In his 30's and barley in the planning stages. Saying your gonna tuck away 1600 dollars a month and actually doing it are.. Well let's just say difficult

  2. Maybe it is illegal, I don't know, but would that stop 99% of landlords from doing it? No.

Put yourself in the landlord shoes. You run down the deposit then leave trashing the place. It's laughable how renters put themselves on a pedestal... Trust me as landlord there are many humans living like pigs!

Anybody try to illegally run down the deposit as rent with me will get lift access, water and electricity cut. Done it a few times already

And if that fails there is option B. I wouldn't go there put thais won't hesitate.
  3. Wait and see, I am dead sure you will be vastly disappointed. Apparently you are unware of the consequences of protest at this moment. Maybe this will open your eyes:

What more needs to be said really.

Vietnam is By far the worst. Cambodia and thailand pretty bad.

Sometimes there is collateral damage to avoid civil unrest or in Thailands case a civil war . The martyrs new what they were up against

Reading through the posts on TV it's pretty clear farang want to see blood spilled. Why you guys would want to see your host country descend into chaos is beyond me but then again lot of weirdos on these boards i

  4. End of the day this topic can be spun a hundred different ways but the real clincher is hardly an adult protested against the army

Don't kid yourselves that they are cowards the red vs yellow shirt chaos shows they will fight.

Imposing western democracy on thailand shows the immaturity of many posters and I hope they have leaned a lesson or 2 over the last 4 years

  5. 5555 no they won't. Unless he rigs the results. Landslides are the department of PTP. Pray tell, if he is so populair, why are they desparetely trying to gain an unfair advantage in plain view ? Seems to me, you are way out of touch with reality. Maybe you spend more time on that bar stool than you care to admit !
Sounds more like backtracking by you and others. Already given up because you and I know what the result will be when the Thais put it to vote

Strange though you guys were such fighters and now you all have tail between legs already admitting defeat. What a wasted four years of posting.. You will never learn or understand whilst you cling to your western version of democracy for Thailand.

  6. Drove it to Bangkok. That's a year of driving without any trouble. There is a God in heaven. Pity it rained all the way since I had washed the car for the trip for the first time in 6 weeks without rain.

Never mind cloud seeding. If your area is suffering a drought pm me and I will come and wash my car there for a reasonable fee.
Why would you wash a car before a road trip? You have it back the front
  7. Burma is just starting to figure things out.  I was there for 4 days recently.  I have to say the women were beautiful and many of them walking around Yangon.  I got smiles from many pretty young girls and spoke with several just chit chat as their English is not good.. I am in my 60's they were in their 20's.  I think the place is a gold mine.  Probably like Thailand was 40 years ago.
The problem may be for you (which I think is actually a positive) is that not many have phones.  They cannot afford them.
Go there in person, walk around and check it out.  A short ways outside the city the place is totally 3rd world.  I bet for sure the girls in the city would love to meet a foreigner.
I would say the smiles you were getting from 20 year olds gramps was a sign of awkwardness when they were being stared down.

    Sorry but that's the truth

  8. Maybe inform her that you are contacting the Inland Revenue people, (or whatever it's called here), and tell her you are checking whether she is/or has been paying tax on your rent, including your deposit. Tell her you are contacting the police, all relevant agencies and that you will have her property blacklisted - then tell her your lawyer is a red-hot wizard from Bangkok.

It might put the fear of god into her, and it might not. But hey - you won't be going out without a fight....
Police will do nothing Its a civil matter. How can he get access to another person's tax records? There are privacy laws

  9. After organising a one-horse race, getting a massive start, building up a big lead, they are now allowing other owners to feed their horse and start training. Guess they finally believe they are so far in front they cant be caught!

Most of the posts on all the threads are farang proclaiming that their "close circle of thai friends" all despise the junta

If that's the case having a head start means nothing. He is so despised they will be wiped out by a landslide

But now posters are saying he has a huge head start and to hard to beat?

Is that like having a bet each way?

  10.
My advice is to walk , it's only 10 minutes away .
    Walking is good for you.

I do 40 mins on the gym bike every morning. Walking barely gets the heart rate up. But still I never gives bike guys a single baht. Just need to walk to a connecting baht bus but oddly it's easy from soi bukaho to central but getting back there is no direct route
