  1. And you deliberately chopped words from the original comment to change the meaning. Yawn...
  2. A while back I opened a new savings account at K Bank to start the KPlus app. (Had to have an account my name only, cannot use joint account to start KPlus.) At the branch I showed my passport and the officer noticed I had the pink ID card. She requesed that they use the ID number on the pink card to open the new account. I agreed and she pushed aside my passport. She then requested that they also update my profile details to include the pink ID card number. The lady explained that the bank prefers the pink ID card number for PR holders because the number remains valid for lifetime, whereas as pasports expire and new passport numbers must be entered when a new passport is issued. A while later I was doing something at BBX, I asked the officer if they wanted my pink ID card number. Instant 'yes please' and the lady instantly updated my profile details and removed my passport number. Same comments as K Bank.
  3. He's a convicted criminal and his case wasn't heard in a kangaroo court. If there's a case that his conviction / crime should be now just forgotten then there's probably several thousand others doing hard time who would be 'entitled' to 'let's forget it'.
  4. OK but it seems plenty of Thais (and foreigners) are not convinced he's actually sick, and not convinced he needs to stay in hospital long-term and not convinced he needs to stay in the hospital high end luxury 'royal suite'.
  5. Thanks. Can you pleae share the process you completed to get the yellow book? Appreciated. (I have the Dark Blue TB book, When my PR book was issued that included being given an ID number (for non Thais, starting with eight and at the same time entry in the darkblue TB book of a friend.)
  6. Just been talking to an old friend lives/works at a school in Phitsanalook. He's worked at the school, with work permits and aligned visa for nearly 20 years. He's totally naive / totally lacking in knowledge re the typical Thai admin matters he should be taking care of. He doesn't know if he has a Tabien Baan book. He's just discovered that some foreigners have the pink Thai ID card and he asked me if I have the pink card? Answer 'yes for well over 2 decades because I have PR'. He's now decided he wants to try to get a pink ID card. I can't give him specific answers 'how to get the card' because I got my pink card through PR. But my naive understanding is that outside of PR the pink card is issued: - To foreigners who have some types of long-term visas. - To foreigners who are shown as the owner on condo chanutes. Can someone please share some specific advise in this case on 'how to get the pink ID card.' Thanks, appreciated.
  7. Why do you say they are 'professional protestors' and what proof of that do you have?
  8. Who in your opinion is "acting out of self-interest": - Thaksin and PT party? or - The protestors?
  9. 10 hours ago, Seeall said: Worse is yet to come... - My posting error above. I was NOT trying to agree with the comment "worse is yet to come". Apologies.
  10. Lots of replies but the original poster is 'asleep'. Further, many replies asked for details of lease / agreement etc., no replies, so how can you (original poster) expect any real answers. Waste of time.
  11. Listen to Dr. Sheryl.
  12. Just one point; folks returning to Oz for 2 years so that they can then clim lifetime portability of their old age pension is not 'detention'. Yes to gain lifetime portability you have to go back and after 2 years you are entitled to lifetime portability. But: - You are not detained / not confined to a specific address. - Folks doing this can travel abroad during the 2 year period for short holidays, e.g. 3 to 4 weeks, 3 or 4 times a year (just suggested numbers, not quoted from any regulation), the accumulation of the 2 year period is NOT interupted. Yes it's an inconvenience but it's not to be dreaded or seen as any punishment. I did it and I was determined to make the best of it. I luckily found a wonderful very friendly, War Vets Village on the Northern beaches just above Sydney, had a great time, great health /medical facilties if needed, great food, lots of supported local travel / shopping etc. Also I used LINE (free to for voice and calls and for video chat) to keep in good contact with family and friends. Most days had a long video chat with my Thai son, his wife and my 4 grandchildren. I was determined to enjoy myself and I did.
  13. But: - Will voting for this cohort be compulsory? - What percentage of UK folks living abroad long term / very long term with no desire to ever return to the UK will actually cast a vote? My guess is about 1%.
  14. But the great news, for me, is 'BANNED FOR LIFE".
  15. I've managed many projects ; 2 days but often 2 years across India. The arrogance, rudeness and ignorance and the treatment of the poor are beyond belief. I would never return except to run a short project but only if I can select the Indian project staff.
  16. orif passport ? Google produces no results.
  17. OP doesn't mention if the child has a passport, orif passport does exist what the country of issue is?
  18. Well horses for courses, I really like and enjoy these beans / roasts.
  19. Interesting, especially when a Thai man who did 5+ years in jail in Australia for drug offences is now a minister in the Thai government. Poses the question is there any record check before ministers are appointed?
  20. True and Mako does have quite some variety of good hill tribe area / royal project coffee beans and already ground and at very reasonable prices.
  21. Thai consulate in Sydney also very helpful by phone. Thai staff speak advanced English, good listeners, always focused.
  22. Some drawings, mock ups of the article would be nice, please.
  23. My negative attitude is historic and recent. Many years back I flew at least 2 return flights per week from Bangkok to S'pore, KL, HK, Jakarta, Manila. Many times the service and attitude given to me was way less than satisfactory. And the rudeness and efusal to help to Thai passengers legendry. Examples: - Evening flight Bkk to Jakarta Business class - My 18 year old Thai son sitting next to me on a full adult fare ticket. He had flown economy and business many times before. - After dinner fiished and trays etc., all packed aw, my son asked politiely if he could have a glass of Coca Cola - Flying waitress didn't stop to speak to him just yelled at him as she kept walking "Go and ask in economy class" - Supervisor came and claimed it was a misunderstanding. No apology and no Coca Cola. - I then asked for a glass of Coca Cola, same flying waitress. She returned with my Coca Cola and said to me "You're a very rude man". and theres more. - Twice flying evening flights HK to Bkk no cabin crew greetings the boarding passengers etc. - No check of seat belts etc., before take off. - Turned out the cabin crew were in the galley holding the curtains closed and having a birthday party.
