  1. Seems to me genetis does contribute. My mum died when she was 99, still quite active / agile and still writing well accepted content for an education website. My dad died at 70 from a massive stroke, looked about 50. Previous health checks never indicated any danger of stroke. (Prior to the stroke dad had no real health problems and his parents had very few health problems, no history of stroke). I look about 10 years younger than my age <so folks tell me> and I regularly get check ups always telling the doctor about my dad dying from a sudden unexpected massive stroke. Check up Dr's always say no sign of stroke. We wait and see. If I die of stroke I'll send a note to AN.
  2. I don't see that as a valid argument. You don't know and I don't know if that's happened and whether nobody wanted photos to be taken. I've used BOLT many times. Every time the driver has checked as I'm alighting that I've taken all my belongings.
  3. Stupid response.
  4. But, it was reported that the sub was to be replace by a frigate or a couple of coast guard ships. Haven't seen anything more re the 'coast guards ships'. Would they be viable in regard to water depth? Would they cost more or less than the submarines? Are they really needed? Are there any modern vessels doing this service right now?
  5. I can just imagine, the Thai agents put up signs in markets and similar places, somehow a Thai agent gets into the picture, agent tells applicant numerous untruths and twists and conveniently doesn't tell them the possible negatives and pitfalls. Agent pushes for the candidate to sign quickly so the agent gets his/her commission. Fair play? NO.
  6. "This is common the world over to encourage people to book in advance for easier management of passenger numbers." Also, there's several items of administration costs, handing in cash, checking cash against ticket sales etc etc. Someone has to pay for this, typically the end user - the passsenger / buyer.
  7. Not necessarily true. Employers nd the various agents, travel companies etc., involved rip them off continuously for large amounts of monry. Ultimately their net income is not that good.
  8. Such wisdom.
  9. If they are so concerned why have they not taken serious decicive action, years ago, to stop this activity by imposing very high fines, jail sentences, confiscation of property suspected of being obtained by less than ethical means, etc Steep enough that it really frightens them off.
  10. Further: - Have all the TV aound the table been charged previously with theft or similar? - How many more exist and are regularly actively involved with theft, harrassment of folks on Beach Road (or any road), but didn't get an invite. Seems to me this 'event' lacks credibility for many reasons.
  11. Nowadays in many areas of business / manufacturing / marketing 30 seconds delay is unacceptable.
  12. How thick / thin would the gold plating be?
  13. "Something was very wrong with him as he couldn't speak English." A very strange perhaps very arrogant comment. Can you speak Thai?
  14. And those that do get sent to hospitals outside of the jail, how many are 'living' in rotal suites at the police or any other hospitals?
  15. That's your version, not necessariy everybody's version.
  16. Well I'm having difficulty to stop BING search fom popping up again. Several times i've gone through the steps to 'totally remove it' but it bounces back and I don't want it.
  17. But the reality is he doesn't deserve any support.
  18. Please share an update on your recovery. And hoping you'll be fully fit very soon.
  19. Many of the items you list / describe can be fund in many cultures. Many of the items you list / describe are true of a small % of the local population and could relate to either male or female Thai folks. And I have no hesitation to say I have many sincere and helpful Thai friends. I've been here 35+years, I've had 2 nasty experiences with foreigners stealing from me. Plus about 1 year back a drunk American hit a car driven by my Thai daughter-in-laws aunt. Severe damage to the car and the middle aged Thai lady spent 1.5 months in hospital with numerous injuries. The American tried to flee but was caught quickly by locals who tied him to a post until the police arrived. There's an ongoing battle to get him to pay for the repairs to the Thai lady's car. The American has insurance but refuses to lodge a report with the insurance company. But does that mean all Americans have the same attitudes, of course not.
  20. But it's obvious from the events since his aircraft touched down that his 'surrender to authorities' was/is not 'standard'.
