  1. BYD vehicles (not mentioned above) are very popular in Chiang Mai with good reports, you can see BYD cars on the roads here in CM.
  2. I was in Australia for about 2 years. I maintained my AIS post pay account. when I wanted to pay a bill in Thailand I removed my Australian SIM and reinserted my AIS SIM. Then opened my internet banking for either K Bank or BBL. Transfer to pay a local (Thailand) bill worked every time. Then of course removed my AIS SIM and reinserted my Australian Telecom SIM.
  3. Yes I remember LBJ. Because of his twisted policies my county restarted conscription but very strongly opposed for many years and I went to the war in Sth. Vietnam. Now receiving a hefty lifetime disability compensation payment which cancels when I die.
  4. Like to see / read the whole discussion before making any judgment.
  5. How old is your son? Don't believe anybody who tells you he needs to be 18 or 20 to own the condo, that's absolutely not true. It's been discussed / checked many time before, very young Thai children can own land / land & house / condo. To avoid all complications, why not transfer ownership to your Thai son now, and give you peace of mind.
  6. What question didn't she answer?
  7. Examples...
  8. So why was the list in his possession? What responsibilities did he have regarding the list?
  9. Last paragraph of above very meaningful.
  10. Further, given trumps long ugly track record there's no doubt he would try anything with zero respect for the rules or ethics or morals.
  11. Thanks for your reply George. I tried to take a full screen shot but it falls back to the 'snip' that I took to send my original message to you. If I can take a full 'snip' of the page would that suffice? Or can you suggest a better way to take a full screen shot. And how do I set Zoom to 100%? Thanks.
  12. This is a scan of the top of the page. The advertising (various advertisers) appears all the time on the right hand side. It continues down quite a lot making it difficult to see / read the real content on the page. It's annoying and it's a nuisance. Is there any way I can stop it? Thanks.
  13. I already take 2 Saw Palmetto tabs around midday (as advised by a doctor at Suan Doc (Chiang Mai Uni Medical School) hospital to reduce the number of times I need to urinate during the night. Been taking Saw Palmetto for about one month and the number of time I need to urinate in the night time has reduced, now down to twice or even once per night (always with the feeling of 'need to pee' / never just sudden unwarned outflow in the bed). But sudden without warning outflow of urine (day time) has not reduced and is intermittent, sometimes once a day (yesterday whilst shopping at Makro Superhighway outflow suddenly started without warning, had to run to upstairs toilet leaving a trail of urine.) And sometimes 2 times per day (daytime only). Yesterday (22 Sept '24) I went to 3 big pharmacies and 2 smaller shops n Chiang Mai. All said DITROPAN tabs out of stock and date of resupply unknown. And I discovered DITROPAN tabs quite expensive. Thai adult Son called the pharmacy at Suan Doc hospital, DITROPAN out of stock but pharmacist mentioned when in stock and prescribed by Suan Doc doctor less than half the price of outside pharmacies. Arrival date of new stock unknown. So looking for any other suggestions of medication instead of DITROPAN for sudden urine outflow without warning. Any suggestions / advice much appreciated.
  14. Strange. I'm aware from personal experience that foreigners can be subject to withholding tax when working as a consultant (with a WP) for a Thai company; paid monthly and withholding tax deducted monthly. The company had never before employed a foreigner, so they called the Thai Revenue dept., who asked if the foreigner already had a Thai Tax number. The answer was YES, then the Rev. Dept., advised to deduct withholding tax. Revenue Dept., officer also suggested the company concerned might like to (in the following January) help the foreigner to claim the withholding tax and that's what happened. In fact all very simple and the tax was refunded to me very quickly.
  15. From above: "The age pension can only be taxed if it is transferred to Thailand..." After transferred to Thailand, taxed by: Australia or Thailand or both?
  16. If correct, good news for Aussies living in Thailand and dependant on regularly receiving OAP transfers into Thailand, and no other income.
  17. Following is from a report in a source which cannot be quoted in Thailand, about 9 September 2024: " Income earned inside Thailand during retirement is the only income subject to tax, while personal income from pension, interest, or other income sources in your home country is not subject to income tax in Thailand. This creates a 100% tax-free retirement in Thailand."
  18. Do you have any reference for that?
  19. Plus in the US waiters etc., who will demand an extra 10 - 20% tip, they believe it's their right regardless of the level of service they have given. I've heard stories of waiters who follow diners to the car park to demand a tip. Wow.
  20. Sure, but not a logical / foolproof / sustaining business model.
  21. Unfortunately military service / war service has no bearing on gaining the OAP. On an aligned subject I have sent you a private message.
  22. Suggest you call the Centrelink International Office in Hobart on 131673 for a clear / specific answer on this point.
  23. One spectacles chain all over LOS keeps opening new stores, very rare to ever see a customer in one of their shops.
  24. Re accommodation: there's several detailed questions on this subject in the actual OAP application document. Two possibilities: 1. Show proof that you own a home and proof that you are receiving and pay council etc., rate. Prove that you receive electricity and water bills etc., and that you pay them. Proof of a bank account with your name and the address of the home you own. 2. Show proof of at least one year rental agreement of a home or apartment etc. The rental agreement must be using a format which is approved at state level. Prove that you receive electricity and water bills etc., and that you pay them. Proof of a bank account with your name and the address of the property you are renting.
