  1. Is the Thai Immigration Bureau responsible to handle cases of foreigners working without a WP?
  2. Or give you a false number, same as in any country.
  3. "News.com.au - Australia leading news site" Just an opinion which many would never agree with. Same owner as Fox news in the US and Sky news in the UK and in Oz, all owned by Murdoch, very right wing attitudes, loves trump. You tube now overrun with Sky news videos praising how wonderful trump is and how bad biden is and the law is so unfair to trump.
  4. Bottom line: military and police newbies are well aware they could face some rough situations, however I don't see the need to use words like de-sensitised.
  5. ".... bullying; and there will always be instructors who cross that line ...." True, we had a new NCO training instructor at basic army training (conscription), he had just returned from active war service. He called the whole platoon onto the parade ground at 3:00 am in the morning, had to be full nude. Temperature was hovering around 5 degrees. No other training staff present. He told all the new recruits to open their legs wide and put both hands on top of their heads. Then he walked along behind each line of men and used a baseball bat up between the legs to hit each boy very hard on his genitals. And if the boy fell down he got a second serving. Next morning the platoon officer was present, several boys got the courage to tell the officer, he was horrified. New training NCO never appeared again and late next day the camp CO came to the barracks, everybody present the CO apologised and said the training NCO had been given a dishonourable discharge with an order he was never to be employed again by the army, police or any sort of security service, and 1 year in a military jail.
  6. I moved into an apartment in melbourne Australia not realizing that around the corner (in a dead end cul de sac, no through traffic) was a large Jewish temple. The temple has a very small carpark. On Saturdays large numbers of worshipers descended, they just drove into other residents / house owners yards, multiple vehicles parked on their lawns, prohibiting the house owners from getting their cars out of their garages etc. Also covered the footpaths with cars, and occasionally ran over small trees. Some community complaint letters to the temple admin. produced answers, such as "Well they have to park somewhere, what do you suggest". On one occasion the above (para above) happened and a very disgruntled house owner put up a very large sign with one word "WALK". It was pulled down, the house owner put it up again, pulled down again and this happened several times.
  7. I'm confused Jingthing: - Are you expanding my comment? or - Are you suggesting something else? I would certainly agree there's arrogant people everywhere / every society / every sub group and just individuals.
  8. You wrote: "Jewish humor is like fine wine...... And most cannot truly appreciate it, if one is a gentile...." Your statement seems to me a good example of Jewish arrogance.
  9. Same to legally adopt an above 18 YO adult to be your legal child, as your child. I can be done and there's a mountain of documentation, referenced etc. After approval by the interior ministry more admin at local amhur office (not for approval) to complete all the documentation, issue new ID card, and letters to agency which issues driving licenses, road tax book, tabien baan records, banks, passport office. This takes a while but initial approval by the Interior Ministry is not challenged.
  10. Just your biased opinion.
  11. What an awful comment.
  12. There's also the point that tourists may well be angry at not being fully informed that the places they are traveling too are not really fit for humanity and they should have been told.
  13. Thanks for that. Could you please show a couple of photos of reflective blinds.
  14. That's a point but I sympathise, my bedroom (second floor) is by far the hottest room in the house. The other second floor rooms much lower in temp. Ground floor not too bad. Roof tiles on all the second floor rooms get full sun, but one exposed wall (with double glass sliding doors, double glass) get full on sun from about 09.00 am. The other exposed wall with 2 double glazed large windows from 10.00 am. These 2 exposed walls were quite hot to touch but we painted them with heat reducing paint (Home Pro) and that did reduce the temp. Had 2 contractors look at installing insulation (roll type), both declined because the roof cavity is too narrow and so much other stuff (drop down supports for the ceiling, wiring). Both also indicated they would not ask their staff to work in the ceiling cavity because of the extreme heat, any month in the year. But they did both offer to remove the gyprock ceiling, add the insulation and fix a wobbly ceiling fan from within the bed room then reinstall a new gyprock ceiling. It's a quite large room, less than 2 days to complete the work. Both quotes 4,000Baht. Late this year in cool months we will go ahead with the plan in the paragraph above. Already have air-con, took the room measurements to an air-con shop and they calculated how many BTU size air-con needed. LG.
  15. This subject has made the headlines again and again over many years. Is there any actual progress at all?
  16. Don't agree, should be a total ban on conscripts or any soldiers working at the residence of an officer.
  17. And did the ceremony / event just continue? Or did it end when the punch up happened?
  18. Thanks again. I got an English speaker on the 1506 Chat Box column, she understood immediately, polite, and gave very clearcomment: - Cannot fix this online - Go to any 7 /11, take a document which shows the words Social Security in Thai, member name and ID number. - Say that you want to pay 432Baht. Did that. - 7/11 lady quickly found the SS on her screen and entered my ID number etc., then said 'pay 1 month or 2 <in Thai>, I responded 1 month. - She took the money and then entered the payment on her screen. - Gave me receipt. All done in 1 minute. Since called 1506, luckily got an English speaker, lady confirmed the normal system for SS to deduct payment from my K bank a/c will restart immediately (on 15 April). Wasn't painful at all. Thanks again for all the advice.
  19. If you don't know then perhaps you're not a person.
  20. Naah, the admirals birthday bash...
  21. Thank you Sheryl. I plan to go to my bank tomorrow morning and see if they can help, and i'll call the 1506 Hotline, they will have an answer. I have many savings account and I've messed up doing the top up ready for the SSO auto deduction process. I already found there is a long grace period to get it all corrected. All my own fault and I'll learn from my error. Thanks again.
