  1. I was considering trying True as they now have True cable on my village with service available to 100mbps. I am satisifed with the reliability of my 3bb and TOT but the 3bb i find quite slow for downloads not browsing. Anyone use True in Sansai?

  2. How is the stability of the 3BB connection? I like to listen to internet radio when I'm home, and I don't like it when the radio cuts on and off due to an unstable connection. And I especially don't like it when I lose messages I spent a long time writing because the internet stutters, as it often does, when I send the message.

Pretty stable for me in Sansai Noi

  3. If you want to watch in HD you will need to get dtv. As I understand it that is the only way to watch in HD in Thailand and all games will be on live. They have an HD decoder which is 4999 Baht and includes all channels for a year. I was going to get gmm Grammy box but they do not have their HD box out yet. I do not see the point buying something that will be surpassed in a few weeks.

  4. Thank you Sam for that detailed report. I read in a previous post that the B version also can receive the 5ghz band on wifi. I confirm that mine can receive both the 2.4ghz and 5ghz bands. Can someone with the A version let us know whether they can receive the 5ghz band. Also, I can also use 3g on AIS no problems despite being told I would not be able to on purchase. I had a feeling this would be the case though.

  5. I have to completely disagree with you eyecatcher. I have had some awful massages in "hi-so" places in both Bangkok and Chiang Mai and some excellent ones in the "cheaper places". I've also had hundreds of oil massages in "Loh Kroh" road and perhaps 10% of the time i have been asked if i wanted anything "extra". The majority of the girls working in those shops are middle aged and quite honestly i don't see any pretty ones at all.

  6. I have a Galaxy Note GT-N7000B. Purchased in Thailand from DTAC in late February 2012. I assume everybody else here that's gotten the upgrade has the GT-N7000?

I'm not sure what the difference is with the "B" model, but if I'm understanding FUS Downloader correctly, it is a model specific to Thailand, as that is the only country choice for it. It appears the GT-N7000 is also a legitimate model for the Thai market, and perhaps the more common model? It appears to have distribution in numerous countries.

As I'm seeing it on FUS Downloader, the ICS upgrade is not available yet for the 7000B. The file date shows January 11, 2012.

Any ideas what the difference is in the "B" model?

MartinBKK: Is your DTAC Note also a GT-N7000B?

    From the Box:

I recall them telling me that in the model number above GT-N7000ZBBTHL, the B indicates it is a DTAC model. If AIS, it would be an A. "THL" indicates Thailand.

Yes mine is the "B" model

  7. SpeedNavi works fine for me.

    Syngic also works.

Igo is also working, but not quite fullscreen.

I prefer SpeedNavi for the maps.

As far as I know all you need to do is transfer the SpeedNavi_signed_GalaxyTab_xxx_xxx_xxx.apk file from your CD to your UsD card and run it, then enter the serial when asked. Not sure what you mean about 'extracting files'

He is following the instructions which are to extract the 2 files and copy them over. But i also have the same issue and mine is not working either.

  8. I'd be pretty upset after I'd been hit on the head, especially in front of my daughter.

    Possible scenario:

Guard: Hey! You! No! Man: what?

    G: You! No! M: <deleted>?

*uses baton and then the video starts*

The man was clearly out of order but how would you feel when you had just been clubbed on the head?

Maybe he was out of order BEFORE he got clubbed.

Yes, and maybe he had already been whacked by the guard a few times. We just don't know the facts unfortunately and likely never will.

  9. It was bound to happen sooner or later. Some people don't like being picked on by a mob and will retaliate. It's quite telling that there are four victims here and only two suspects.

It seems to me like the usual situation where a mob attacked a couple of people but this time the mob lost the brawl.

That's right. Blame the 'Thai mob'

Read the story. The Irish returned to get their money back. The owner gave them their money. They weren't satisfied for some reason, caused more ruckus and assaulted two customers in the bar. Staff and motorcycle guys came to aid of bar owner. The Irish left. The bar was shut down and owner of bar takes two unidentified victims to hospital. The two farangs then returned to the bar and started the brawl with the 4 Thai guys who had probably forced them to leave after the money was refunded.

Why don't you read the facts before posting?

As if they are the REAL facts

  10. Why would you need to continually re-apply for tourist visas if you had a legitimate reason to be in Thailand?

I'm not sure if that was a general question or aimed at me, but since you quoted me...

    I wouldn't. I'd get a residence permit. Except there isn't one.

I'm not sure what you consider a legitimate reason. I can think of many (that don't fall into the categories education, business, retirement or marriage).

It was aimed at you, you seem to be particularly animated about this subject. I dont know of many countries ( especially in Asia ) that allow unfettered immigration. I do agree though that some of the policies look a bit arcane ( such as 90 day reporting ) however I think we can all see that if there was unfettered immigration into Thailand there would be an explosion of immigration. You have to remember its not just we Westerners etc that want in, the Russians, Indians, Chinese etc would move in in unsustainable numbers.

To me its fair enough that there are controls on immigration, because as apparently tight as they are just now they are already being abused. There are also enough legitimate categories for long term stay, and I dont think there should be a category called " because I want to ".

I also get the impression that people getting red stamped are few and far between, so the idea that there is some evil Consulate employee out there red stamping for the fun of it is off the mark. The perpetual tourist visas should be more strictly regulated, that category of immigrant are the people who habitually abuse the system and have a detrimental effect upon the legitimate visa holders.

@ the blether. Let me guess - you are over 50. A nice category for you to fit in there right :-)

@Beano - My loved one is here and without getting married i can provide whatever you can to go to the west but there is no visa category for me in Thailand.

Fortunately i can afford to pay people to sort me out a "visa". Pretty sure all those "criminals" and "abusers of the system" can too.
