I let they know they were a bunch of wanke_rs and dropped the money on the floor and walked out....
You're very lucky you didn't get a kicking for that, and you probably would have deserved it for insulting them and the King needlessly.
Yawn. He was not insulting the king. I have seen Thais tear a 100 baht note in half maybe they deserve a kicking too.

Does anyone else find the picture during football jittery? It is pretty annoying and happens during every single game. Bring back TRUE i say.

I am watching Sky news on CTH at the moment. No problem.
What you mean is that you are watching replay after replay with a few adverts thrown in ! or are CTH different to all others who show Sky News
I think that is the idea of 24hr news channels - you can turn it on at your convenience and catch up with the news headlines.

I have been with SCB for more than 5 years (in Chiang Mai) and i have had nothing but excellent service from them.

They also carry Eurosport HD but you will need to buy the HD box for this. It is 2700 baht and you will get the gold package free for a year (includes all sport channels)

I am looking for a cat friendly condo in Sukhumvit area. Must be in easy reach of BTS or MRT. Must also be able to get Hi Speed internet. My budget is upto 25k a month and would prefer a place with standard rate electric/water.
If you have anything of interest please PM me. Thanks.

I'm looking for something similar not too far from sukhumvit - upto 30k. Anyone else have any more suggestions?

Its the f*****g IT/TV geeks showing us how creative and tech savvy they can be, as if we give a s**t about their creativity. Nauseating.
I don't think so, it's Keys and Gray taking advantage of their muscle to stamp their mark all over the coverage.
And we get another three years of it unless one of the Shaikhs gets pissed off with their nonsense and tells them to drop it, which is also a strong possibility.
I think Keys and Gray are the best pundits on television - wish they were on CTH so i could ditch my iptv service.

Yawn, some green eyed monsters on here. None of you know my situation, the topic is about being self sufficient as mentioned in the opening post. I'm a chemical engineer by trade, worked all over the world, most recently in south africa and dont have any money worries whatsoever but it doesnt hurt to be prudent. Wherever i go i like to be self sufficient hence the reason for posting. I also mentioned that the £900 was minimum when in fact i'll be expecting nearly double that. Didnt realise there were so many bitter old farts in Thailand. Carry on lads.
For those with constructive advice, cheers, taken on board. Have just secued a lease on a nice house on the outskirts of chiang mai. PAID 18000 per month reduced from 21000 as payed the lot up front. That will save on my rent and free up some money. Looking forward to the trip.
Regards
I'm afraid there are a lot of "bitter old farts" in Thailand and for some reason most of them seem to end up in CM. I'm also 34 having lived in CM for 6 years (previously BKK) my advice would be to live in BKK where you can meet more like minded, professional people your own age.

Anyway to record on this CTH? I have attached an external HD to the CTH set top box which it successfully recognizes and i'm able to play files on the media player. I can't see a recording function though and there is no mention of it in the instructions. Seems pretty surprising there is a media player and no way to record the actual programs?

Don't know about True, but my 3BB ADSL is not capped at 2GB/month. Most 3G plans are capped at 2 or 3Gb though and then slow down dramatically.
True Docsis is not capped either. As far as i know only 3g services have usage limits but feel free to correct me if i'm wrong. I have both True Docsis and TOT fttx and over the time i've had them TOT has probably been slightly better, however they both have their ups and downs hence the reason i have two. I have just done the exact upgrade the OP is considering and so far it has not been worthwhile. I think there is a problem though because last week my speedtests were showing the correct 30mb to the BKK server but now they are only 20mb. I am going to call up to let them know.
PS. I have also had 3BB ADSL before and i didn't find that as good as what i have now. However, other people report that 3BB is far better so i think it's safe to assume location plays a huge factor with all ISP's.

I read a few articles suggesting some of these are cancer causing and the effects are more harmful than smoking 100 cigarettes. After reading this, i stopped using them. I have no idea if some are less harmful than others but i'll use repellent from now on.

I wondered how they ever managed to actually sell the business. There is no way that they made any money. I literally live 3 minute walk from there. In the few years that they were opened as Miguels it was rare to see more than 3-5 customers a day. I don't see how they paid rent, employees and other overhead let alone made any money. The new place seems to have more customers but when I went in most of the people weren't eating much. They did get rid of the pool table and less emphasis on their bar.
When it was Miguels I would never give it above a 5 out of 10 but now it isn't even a 3. The menu alone is so unprofessional. Just some snapshots of plates of food with bad lighting. You cannot even tell what the dishes are.
I am a mexican food snob.
I have been going to this place for quite a few years - it is hardly any different to when it was Miguels except a few new things on the menu i believe. I don't agree the menu is unprofessional and the food is reasonably priced, quite delicious and very good value in my opinion. I also think the service staff are attentive and friendly and as long as all of these remain the same i will continue to go.

I have only ordered from China a few times, but received goods every time - albeit slow coning! I tend to favour ordering from Hong Kong sellers since the goods arrive much more quickly. It is normally the case that anything available from a Chinese seller will also be available from a Hong Kong seller too.
I use my workplace (a school) as the delivery address and this seems to ensure delivery, whereas I am aware that friends using residential addresses frequently have failed deliveries. It therefore seems to me that it is indeed at the Thai end where the "redirection" of goods is taking place...
My experience is exactly this - HK ok but China hit and miss.

I quite like the omelette in o'malleys in the night market. That's 130 baht including toast tea or coffee. Smoothie blues is a great breakfast place in nimman road but it is a little more expensive.

Shangri la was 29k last time I checked 2 months ago. If it was 20k I would join.

To clarify, my IPTV is not CTH. It has the al jazeera sports channels and they have just announced they have secured the rights to the EPL for the coming season (middle east). Sorry for not being clear in my previous post.

Tot Fttx in sansai here. No problems at all and I find it slightly faster than my True docsis.

Agree with most of what the Op says. It is early days and I'm prepared to give it another chance in a few months.
As it stands though there is really not much reason to go there.

So what to do then? Should i wait for WETV or C Band? Or go ahead and get the KU Band? I would like to be set up for kick off but i do have an IPTV service and it will also be broadcast on that so i'm not going to miss it.
