  1. I have the funds at SCB. I went to transfer the money to Thailand Privilege Card Co., Ltd account 170-0-12702-0 at Empire Tower branch of Krung Thai bank. If someone could confirm these details are legit I would really appreciate it. My bank suggested I withdraw the cash and carry it across to Krung Thai. Nobody at Krung Thai was able to confirm anything about the account I was told to send to. I would much prefer to transfer it from an account in my own name. What did other members do?

  2. I am just about to send the money for the Superiority Extension. I am a little concerned about this TM30 business though. Even though i have paid one million baht everytime i leave my home to travel abroad or even within Thailand staying just 1 night in a hotel my wife must go to the immigration on my return? This isn't convenience in my opinion it is extreme inconvenience. Could anyone confirm that this is the case for Thailand Elite members?

  3. Completely agree OP. Having lived here for over 10 years taxis have always been a problem. I live in Sansai and going to the city is 350 baht although some even try for 400/450.  In BKK, this journey would be between 100-150 baht. I was hoping for an improvement when GRAB started but unfortunately at the moment GRAB doesn't work well here either - there are not enough cars yet. UBER is not here yet AFAIK. My Thai gf even tears her hair out when dealing with them it is not just a farang rip off.

    Question:

Why would someone pay 1mn for "Elite Privilege Access" with a validity of 10 years when you can get 20 years for the same price (Elite Superior Extension) with the only difference between the 2 being the airport transfers and the health check option? Do people really sacrifice 10 years of membership for the sake of free airport transfers and a medical check? What am I missing?

Nothing that i can see. I am seriously considering the Elite Superiority Extension.

  5. If you donot likethe prices here go homeand see how you will likethem. Iam going back to the states in august I can imaginehow much they have went up

The only things I find cheaper here than in the UK are eating out, property, electricity, and water (and probably Internet). Admittedly those are all very important, especially property as we all need somewhere to live, but a lot of the food (in supermarkets), alcohol, good quality electrical equipment, reasonable quality clothing, and anything else I buy on a regular basis all seems to be cheaper back home. Basically if you want quality it's usually imported and therefore costs a fortune.

EDIT: There are probably loads of other things that are much cheaper here I just don't happen to buy them or do them.

I just came back from 2 months in Portugal and you can basically say the same thing about there. I found eating out, accomodation, electricity, water and taxis much more expensive but everything else is either the same or less than the prices in CM. After the minimum wage came in a few years ago i noticed the prices here start to rise very quickly.

  6. It depends where you apply (and what passport you hold). In the UK it is not possible unless you submit a tax return according to information i was told directly from the consulates . I was however, told differently by a couple of TV posters who said they had first hand experience of getting one or knew people that had. I am from the UK and was planning to apply myself in 2 weeks but i have since decided it will be a waste of time and money for me to travel and apply there.

In other countries it is definitely possible. Germany, NZ and Australia all have confirmed reports of employment letter not being necessary. I have a close friend who got one in New Zealand with no letter of employment (he has a NZ passport). I also read that it may be possible to apply in Australia even if you have a passport from another first world country and are not resident in Australia. I would certainly check this with the embassy/consulate before making travel plans though.

  7. Thank you for taking the time to reply. Unfortunately i do not have any documentary evidence of being retired. I do not file tax documents and do not have a pension. I am just interested to know if anyone has obtained one in London with similar circumstances. I can provide evidence of significant savings/investments if it would be helpful.

I have a friend who got one in New Zealand with no employment documents required but I am not sure what the situation is in London. I am going back to visit family in Europe so would not want to waste my time going to London specially if there was a chance of being declined. As an alternative which Hon. Thai consulate would be the most flexible?

  8. PAT did mine, I have had numerous remotes replaced and found the service to be fine. I don't know where you are in Chiang Mai but there is an office close to me in the Sansai area. Opposite Pizza Mania (on the other side of road) if you drive north past Rimping Meechok it is about half a kilometer past. The head office number is 02 691 6789. Although that is a BKK number i am sure they will be able to point you to your nearest dealer.

  9. I have a MBP 15 inch top model and while it is a great machine i probably won't buy another in the near future anyway. The issue is a lot of software just doesn't run on MAC and most people use windows. I find myself working in Windows 90% of the time so unless you have very basic needs like email, surfing the web etc i wouldn't recommend MAC after my own experience. However, i am not a Windows fanboy or an Apple fanboy. I just buy what suits my needs and budget.

  10. Whilst you're at it, can you deposit some money into my bank account as well, as I'm struggling to pay for the health care premium of me and my family.

Whilst i and many others will agree with this point view, this man is seriously ill in hospital with many of his family and friends trying to help. Those kind of comments are unnecessarily upsetting imo. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

  11. I got internet banking from BKK bank on a tourist visa 2 years ago (Bangkapi branch). We all know what it's like here though, one day this is required and another day it's something else.

I would be disappointed if i was the OP though being a Thailand Elite Card holder and finding them unable to assist. Isn't that the whole point of their concierge service to facilitate long stays and make life easier for the member? I was considering Thailand Elite for myself however reading stories like this puts me right off the program honestly.
