You realise the dec of income was for the forthcoming year, not the one past. Unforeseen circumstances meant that the income for that next year was less than predicted at the time of making the dec!

I , and you , dont know what people would write in the dec.I wrote that i receive $xxxxx per annum from the Oz govt. Never said I "had" or I "will".

It's an assumption I agree with.

Wasn't it an assumption, based on logic, that Immigration would have to announce an alternative method of proving incomes deposited in a Thai bank when some of the Embassies stopped issuing income letters.

This whole scenario kicked off by TI becoming suspicious and requesting back up proof supporting incomes declared on Embassy letters.

There is nothing to prevent them continuing to request supporting documents in support of incomes declared via Embassy letters and they now have an approved alternative of Thai bank statements + bank letters as proof of income.

If they find that these declared Embassy incomes are not actually being transferred to meet their financial requirements, they could very easily just stop acceptance of Embassies letters and advise to use the alternative method.

A method that they can 'verify' themselves.

" if they find, they could very easily, advise to use the alternative". I give up, cheers.

And the reality is that the Embassies probably don't give a stuff if the person is perjuring themselves to a foreign government; and the IO's processing the applications are happy as long as the letter/affidavit confirms the income.

Perjury must have been committed hundreds (maybe thousands) of times over the years with these affidavits, and as far as I'm aware no one has ever been 'caught out' because no one checks. It's been a big loophole in the system that is closing/closed.

Wrong again. Perjury has never been committed "with these affidavits". I do wish people would do their research before posting their unfounded comments, opinions, they are not helpful.

In the case of the Australian embassy, it is not just Statutory Declarations for income here in Thailand that have stopped, but all Stat Decs for certifying your address, etc, and also in some other countries too. I don’t know if this is because of a change in the law in Australia, or just an administrative decision by Foreign Affairs, but embassy websites I checked at random say that Stat Decs are for use in Australia, or on Australian issued forms.

From the Aus embassy in NZ :

Notarial Services are provided by the High Commission (Wellington) or Consulate-General (Auckland), where the documents are of Australian origin, or are for use in Australia

     The Tokyo embassy website:

Notarial services are only available where the documents are Australian in origin, or intended for use in Australia. Ensure you provide correct written instructions to our staff. Fees apply.

And of course the BKK embassy:

Please note that Australian consular or diplomatic officers are only permitted to witness an Australian Statutory Declaration being made for use in Australia by an Australian entity.

So for us Aussies at least, it’s not just here in Thailand that the changes apply, and it’s probably just coincidence that it happened around the same time as other embassies decided not to certify income statements for whatever reason.

Things are getting repeated over and ;over and over. Noting new being posted. I posted about the Oz Stat Dec months ago in my thread,. "great news for Ozzies". Time for all for all threads about this matter to be stopped until there are new orders issued.

I never report anything when I go to another province - I'm usually staying at relatives houses or resorts under my wife's or another relatives name. Even in large hotels, I let my wife deal with them (they never ask to see my passport). It's a stupid rule and I won't be a part of it. I just report when I come from overseas. I can understand them wanting to track tourists, but people living here for years and doing 90-day reports anyway....well, that's Thai logic.

    "'a stupid rule and I won't be a part of it. ".   " I let my wife deal with them ".  !!!

I am not familiar with this, but are you saying they were in Sadao and having someone take their passports to be stamped out and in without them leaving the country?

If so, clearly against the LAW.

Calm down and read clearly what elvajero has said, if not having seasoned funds you would not satisfy the requirements and your application would be rejected. Different thing again, totally different.

Against the law, correct, but it was advertised widely here in Phuket . Elvajero usually just repeats what UJ posts. At other times, he is often way off the mark. If use an agent and have "pretend " seasoned funds, you may well get your visa, but, if the shit hits the fan as it did in Sadao, you will be in deep shit for being overstay, ie no valid visa. You can take what i say to the bank.

It’s not law. It’s a condition of being issued an extension. If you don’t meet the condition (“seasoning”) you simply don’t get the extension; and you can’t sent be to the “monkey house”!

Wanna bet? Use an agent , no seasoning, get caught out, got to monkey house. I was here when Hanbali, dunno correct spelling, went through Sadao, all who got caught on the streets with their supposed 90 day visa run, went to monkey house.

    FIRST JOE WHERE ARE YOU???

I have lived here for 9 years and the only change that I report is when I move to a new residence.

I also like most here travel although not out of the country on a regular basis and stay in hotels and such.  I also traveled outside the country to check out the land of OZZ sorry not my brand of beer too expensive.

Anyway, I have never ever made a report or had the owner do a report for any of my trips.  Why should I still reside at that location as my permanent location and base?  The hotels that I stay in report that I am there.

Now I live in Pathum Thani and immigration here have brains that they use.  That may be the difference.

My question is why are you telling the owner that you are going away.  If he or she does not know that you have left the house they have no need to report it.

If you do not pay rent for the time that you are away then I can understand but really are we starting to micromanage our fears and get paranoid.

I started reading and thought, here is a man to take notice of, then, " land of OZZ sorry not my brand of beer too expensive.". then you lost all credibility.

That's not 100% true. BE used to accept copies of these document, sent by email. I know 2 Brits from my condo who said they "modified" some figures on these scanned documents to make things easier, and they didn't saw that as a problem as they really have the money invested in UK. They are now very annoyed to have to bring the money in Thailand, but will do it as no other choice.

PS: Don't make me say what I didn't say; I know TWO guys ONLY. I have no idea how many did the same. They certainly are not the only 2 ones, but I can easily believe that the majority of UK guys didn't lie this way.

" but I can easily believe that the majority of UK guys didn't lie this way." And I just as easily disagree, most I know lied about income. You have said that 100% of the Brits in your condo that you know also lied.

  10. People forget the women who are affected by the change too. Last nigh I went for my walk along the foreshore, saw a little old lady sitting on the sea wall, weeping, a farang. I asked her if I may sit, she just nodded. I asked , whats up love. She said she had to leave soon and pointed at the sea. After a bit more chit chat , between the tears, some from me too, she told ;me her story. She has been living with her thai defacto for 20 years, has 4 children and 9 grand children. She has ;not the money to stay with the new regs. I asked why she hadnt married her thai bloke, halve the amount required, she said she cant marry again as her first husband had his legs blown off in the second world war and when he died 30 years ago she started getting a small,  war widows pension. It stops if she marries again. She came to LOS on holidays, met the thai bloke and has been here ever since. Now, she has to leave her thai family and return to Oz, where she knows no one, her Oz family and friends all died out years ago. She never told her thai family she was going away forever, she made a vid telling them she loved them all and would be back soon. I asked when she was flying out, she said she wont be flying any where, and showed me a  bottle of pills. I asked her to wait there for a minute or two, off I went to find a cop to see if they could  do something about helping her. I couldnt find one, when I returned after an hour or so, she was gone.

Positively, it all started with the BE and then the others followed suit kinda like the BE calling the head of Immigration as "the right honorable gentleman" and bending over and being butt  (deleted).!

As you have been told hundred of times already, Oz embassy stopped the stat decs because they have no meaning out side of Australia and arnt to be used confirming income in Australia anyway.
