  1. So further evidence of inconsistency, About 5 years ago my card was chewed up by an ATM and I managed to get a new card at not my "home" branch despite me using a different passport than the one I was carrying when i opened the account So obviously no real need to return to original branch at all ! They will tell you anything if they don't want to deal with you, it is not necessarily true
  2. so an old guy is sick in Thailand , is this even news ? what are they asking for, they don't seem to be asking for money , I don't see the point in this article /
  3. I was thinking of "corn circles"
  4. I have heard from others that Kasikorn is generally a bit more user friendly
  5. There are few benefits to getting married, There may be some regarding pension entitlement after ones death as another member mentioned , conversely you may just be setting yourself up for a nasty divorce., and "just walking away" may be more difficult. Don't forget the definition of marriage " find someone you hate and buy them a house"
  6. That is why I ended my post with " it worked for me on the day " nothing is certain here
  7. As a further "heads up" The Bangkok Bank branch opposite Kap Choeng immigration has now closed! ( it has been taken over by the "farmers bank") for anybody requiring statements etc, the nearest branch is now in "Prasat" approx 30 km away
  8. Opening a new account can be "challenging"
  9. I know exactly where you're coming from , I've met some dragons over the years, It's usually the women who are awkward , impolite and even downright rude I have normally found the guys to be OK. (Bit like immigration ) I always go in alone , it's better that way
  10. For what its worth, My Bangkok Bank debit card was is to expire at the end of this December but as I probably won't be here then i have been thinking of trying to renew it a bit earlier. Not something I have particularly looking forward to doing and I have been putting it off to be honest. Anyway when I went to the ATM today a large message appeared on the screen advising me that the card was due to expire soon and instructing me to go to ANY Bangkok Bank branch to arrange a replacement before close of play on the 31/12 , so spurred into action I went to my local branch in Surin to sort it out today I was not particularly optimistic I've been a customer of the Bangkok Bank for 25+ years and have had "petty" issues with them several times , mainly due to the fact that my "home" branch is in Khon Kaen, which always causes difficulties, I took a few deep breaths and walked in ( leaving the missus in the car) as then they have to talk to me! ) This time was totally different , very efficient and helpful , and less than 10 minutes and about 10 signatures later I had a new card in my wallet Buoyed by my success I thought I would try for a new passbook , which has always been difficult, and sometimes impossible in the past, unless I returned to Khon Kaen, but this time what do you know ? No problems at all, new passbook issued immediately , couldn't believe it , I asked if there had been a change of policy , explaining that i was normally sent to my "home" branch for a new passbook she said not as far as she knew, but she was only young and probably hadn't been there more than a few years The last time I tried to renew a passbook was about 10 years ago So for anybody wondering , yes it is possible to sort these things out at a different branch , at least it was for me today
  11. probably still working "tirelessly" from home due to covid, expect a lot of that when dealing with the UK authorities
  12. most people wouldn't have the stomach for it.and those that did would not know where to start, well they might know where to start but they would definitely struggle with the next bit, but as the final part involves the use of a mincer, and the relatively unskilled task of shoving a load of gristle into it (and just about anything else other than teeth and hooves) I suppose most of them could manage it, eventually, with a bit of practice Its Not a very sustainable way to get a burger though or cost effective and there will be quite a lot of wastage for the grab guy to take away to get rid of afterwards(when the rain stops) depending on how well you'd been feeding "daisy" and for how long of course, but he'll turn up with his mates and they'll shift the waste for nothing To help save the world and prevent climate change etc This wastage could be mitigated by "going large" as I think they call it and preparing ones self a "1/2 pounder" or "Double Whopper " (according to preference) A further reduction i waste could be achieved by ordering it as "A Meal" which would also include a healthy giant sized drink you could select and prepare a milk shake as long as you remembered and were capable of milking daisy prior to the start preparing something for the cheese board would be a bit ambitious though in my opinion
  13. I wonder for what reason, surely not a medical one?
  14. It was a SUSPECTED covid infection according to another member and according to the kink you provided yourself you really should have read it so he could have died from anything couldn't he Its not difficult to confirm a dose of covid but they didn't so it wasn't
  15. inaccurate is inaccurate and projections have been wrong time and time again I'll reiterate I am just not interested anymore
  16. The fact that something has hit the front page of a newspaper means very little anymore, David Beckham getting a haircut can "make the front page" around the world if you haven't noticed, and don't get me started about Megan Markle or Kim kardashian. Sadly the media is not our friend in times of trouble be it covid or war or at any other time for that matter I wear my mask, (albeit begrudgingly) when required so I'm doing my bit and I'm not an anti vaxxer and have had my 3 pfizer shots, although to be honest that was purely to prevent travel restrictions but unless there is what I consider to be a very good reason, I don't think I will be having any more. But you are right I don't particularly care, not anymore, due mainly to my personal experience with covid. (twice) and there are plenty of other more pressing problems for me to deal with on a day to day basis at present to be honest I rarely give covid a second thought, even when putting on my mask. The fact that nobody has predicted how it might end is not particularly scary, its actually a refreshing change to see common sense prevail, as nobody can predict how it will end with any degree of certainty , although that has not stopped so many people making doom and gloom predictions ad nauseum since day 1 I am obviously not a member of the "medical community" but here is my prediction... There will be many more deaths attributed to covid , the virus will never disappear and will continue to mutate. forever The panic and scaremongering with death counts and predictions will only end when the next "world crisis" arrives , If covid doesn't kill us something else will soon enough . In the meantime lets just make the best of what little time we all have left. rather than running scared People can have as many jabs as they want and can have their masked glued to their faces if they want but let's stop trying to scare people with death figures that even the experts themselves admit are inaccurate
  17. So its a bit like chinese whispers now is it ? , and every body adds a bit on , So what "that language" actually means is take these figures with a generous pinch of salt regarding their accuracy ! but for dramatic effect feel free to add a bit on (like we already have) in order to scare people . I stopped listening when they qualified their figures with "within 28 days of a positive test" I refuse to be intimidated or scared
  18. Me too! no flu Jab ever , and to be honest not a particularly healthy diet. Maybe there just isn't much flu about anymore, a bit like leprosy ?
  19. As it even states on your little "death graph" " the number of confirmed deaths may not accurately represent actual deaths" so basically meaningless, again! I don't think the rest of society is prepared to wait for you personally to agree to encourage a return to normality as the movement, although a little slow of the mark , is now well underway world wide and has been for some time. Of course you and your disciples are perfectly at liberty to continue to take whatever precautions you feel are appropriate, just please stop trying to scare the rest of us into putting our lives on hold any longer "The end is worse than we imagined" That's not exactly true either is it ? as at the beginning I remember some predicting the end of humanity and we are nowhere near that , And wasn't it Neil Ferguson (again) who validated by "mathematical modelling," was predicting massive daily deaths from Omicron ? despite advice to the contrary from the south african medics were Omicron was first identified. Throughout Covid there seems to have been a competition amongst some, as to who could make the scariest predictions , Why was that even allowed ? and why have so few if any been criticised when found to be wrong
  20. "Facts" and "credible" sources are in this case an inconvenience to those seeking the truth too. whatever the truth actually is. I am not so quick to believe all I am told and I don't understand why anybody else is
  21. The word "estimate" appears quite a lot in your previous post , there is also mention of "mathematical modelling" which has been shown time and time again to be a particularly inaccurate form of estimate. And you even mention estimates that exceed "official figures " by some 300% are the estimates more official than the official figures? Can you not understand how many like myself simply don't care anymore. I have covid twice once in the early days pre vaccine when it was "deadly" and 6 months ago after 3 pfizer jabs "omicron" neither was particularly unpleasant when compared to some bouts of flu I have encountered. So please forgive me for not being frightened by the charts, data, or statistical estimations that you feel the need to post on here Its time for us all to get over ourselves and get on with life, and you are not helping with any return to normality
  22. Not surprised at your response, you have been on here almost daily, since covid began cutting and pasting charts and data trying to scare people for reasons known only to your self As far as I am concerned you can keep your estimates and data I am not interested.
  23. NPC's thats a new one on me but I like that analogy and how very true unfortunately is the same everywhere and to varying degrees we are all at the mercy of the squabbling and / or opportunist politicians and their various accomplices and that is not unique to Covid but an ever present fact of everyday life
