  1. I cannot accept that it would take 6 weeks ( is that as a result of a queuing system ?) nor that the presence of methamphetamine could be accurately detected by a breath test as he suggested Surely the result of a blood test would be almost instantaneous
  2. I'm not convinced that arming more people is the way forward, The uk for example has always resisted arming the police ( other than specialised officers) and as a result the amount of gun crime is relatively small, Compare that to America were all cops and many others are armed it has not reduced these kind of incidents Military trained Teachers with guns ? I don't think that would be a very good Idea .Most normal people would be unable to kill another
  3. It would be a "start", however the next perpetrator is not necessarily going to be ex-army or ex police, I don't know what the answer is or even if there is an answer. Many people are motivated by money here "money number one" as they say, perhaps some sort of financial incentive could persuade people to hand in their guns or report those who won't, possibly funded by the lottery ? It won't be 100% effective but many would jump at the chance to get their hands on say 5000 baht. It would be another step in the right direction would it not?
  4. Is working as a prostitute actually on the list of reserved occupations alongside hairdressers and tour guides etc ? If not then there is really no excuse for not obtaining a work permit beforehand
  5. Estimates are just that. whether by self appointed "experts" or anybody else. There are many guns here but nothing like this has happened before, Perhaps a more pertinent question is how many nutters are out there that have the potential to commit similar atrocities? Perhaps the "experts" could shed some light on that? Thought not Its not the guns that kill people its the person pulling the trigger and it only took one gun (and one nutter) to cause the devastation that occurred Always amazes me how many experts appear after the event, any event, for that matter Will it happen again? unfortunately due to the high profile media coverage, I fear that possibility has now increased. Many nutters seek notoriety, and are prepared to die to achieve it, its not only islamists
  6. If they were registered guns they would not need a swedish "survey" to "guess" how many , they would just n look in the register and count them. Nobody has a clue how many illegal guns are circulating, or perhaps more importantly, how many of them are in the hands of nutters like that guy
  7. Plenty of guns in Thailand, not so sure how a Swedish institute has any Idea how many there are , Guesswork in my opinion.
  8. How would any research project, establish the number of guns , was it a telephone survey? or online survey ? or were they over here knocking in doors and asking people? Or maybe yet another "fine" example of "mathematical modelling " " the graduate institute of international and development studies in geneva" ??? sounds very impressive but how could they possibly know Why was the "survey" not conducted in partnership with the authorities here, that way as the guns were found they could have been confiscated . Usual academic rubbish producing worthless figures in my opinion
  9. Ex colleague ! he was sacked
  10. I have a Thai mate who is a building contractor he has 2 younger brothers who work in the same industry (all independent of each other) All three had been working in Laos for about 3 years before Covid and have recently returned there They seem to be having some success both work wise and with the ladies. They view Lao women as "unspoilt" compared to Thai women in a similar way that many of us westerners consider Thai women unspoilt by the toxic feminism of the west
  11. Thai hotels don't require to see a marriage cert who told you that?
  12. No need to apologise as your closing sentence has probably just done more for the resorts popularity than anything printed in the aforementioned throwaway publication.
  13. not sure if that work's available for foreigners, but I saw something on the news a few nights ago where a Thai woman was paying 100,000 per month for the services of a Bar boy ( or "bar host" ) as they called him His hourly rate was 2500 baht . She was not bad looking either I would have done her for free
  14. 25 years ago several people tried to "warn" me that the energy drinks like M-150 and lipo contained amphetamine.!! They were deadly serious, I also remember rumours that Thai beer contained formaldehyde . That guy seems determined to start his own urban myth, I can see no other reason for his post
  15. seems nearly every week some hitherto unknown publication publishes an advertisement for Thailand quoting some fictional figures from imaginary people as part of the spiel . The correct response is to just ignore it all, Where people find the energy / inclination to vehemently agree or disagree with the obvious b/s is a mystery to me. As is the possibility that somebody might arrange a holiday based on what they have read in a magazine which they probably found in a dentists waiting room or whilst waiting for their car to be serviced or wherever else these rags end up prior to their final resting place
  16. Absolutely correct, Why do people start these ridiculous rumours ?
  17. strangely there was no mention of me paying any money for the card but i guess they will just take it from my account when they are ready
  18. I know exactly what you mean
  19. Exactly when it next happens they will kill the tv and internet and block all the radio channels except Radio 2 lol Radio too oh forget it
  20. "For just a few hundred baht they make great presents so that the aged can listen to music and the lottery while in the fields as well as get important emergency information if necessary." Whilst their bone idle offspring lie in hammocks all day either drunk or playing on their smartphones waiting for their mother to come home so they can be fed
  21. do you have a fully fitted out underground bunker yet?
  22. depends what they class as elderly, but out here in the sicks there always seems to be some women gossiping to the mother in law about the errant ways of theirs or others' husbands many of whom are in their 70's My father in law was in the bad books a few years ago he was 76 (still has do do his own laundry lol) and his brother in law makes no secret of his mia noy ( who his wife is fully aware of, but blames it all on the existence of a tamarind tree in front of the house, that he won;t chop down!!) There's loads of them at it , and their kids , grandkids , and possibly even grand kids are no better lol There is also an oldish woman who is known to arrange "introductions" for a fee of course The young generation are obviously going at it bareback evidence being all the bloody kids they pop out, I doubt the oldies are any different after 1/2 bottle of lao khao ! so you might be surprised ! Must be something in the air maybe,
  23. "deleted Again" and you've only made 31 posts do you suffer from Tourettes ?
