I am curious if anyone has had this done in Thailand and what the costs were.  Both my big toenails are very curved and can be tender, and the skin has grown very high on the nail making it impossible to cut short.  After reading this thread I am now considering getting them removed, will do more research on the web to see if this is the direction I want to go.

please do report back if you go to a hospital

OK you tell me who the hell is ever going to look at your big toe and think omg you don't have a nail

i cringe at the thought of having someone pulling out my toenails, that is a common procedure in torture mind you,

and then proceed to burn the root, and then to top it off charge me a bill for it.

i also dont know where i would go, if that is my last resort

Yes I had mine done the same method it lasted for a couple of years but now it is growing

back in again but since it does not cost me anything I just go back and get it done again

i read if you cut it a v shape, that is, 180 degree reverse

to the usual shape we cut them, it supports a straight growing nail. the recommendation is a small v in the middle,

as deep as you can without getting into flesh

  4. i should mention this: i need to use a plyer and squeeze

the nail straight before i shove in the fluss.

unfortunately the nail is too short on one side each of both toes so i'm going to have to wait to treat them until the nail there is long enough

It's been a really long time but things get wet in the shower, so do the math. As I said I'm not even sure I used cotton. It might have been rolled up index cards. The idea is to find something sturdy that does the job. You're going to need to change whatever it is often and I really do recommend the foot soaking too.

I guess it took at least two months before I was pretty confident that the method was really working. You're basically retraining the nails to grow differently. I don't remember when I stopped putting in the material either. I don't think it was that much longer than realizing it was working.

alright, but i tried the foot bath and recognized

i am not cut for that.

i can do the shoving up stuff, for as long as it isnt

    5+ times a day.

    thanks for specifying the time,

when i tried i didnt last over 5 days.

this dental floss seem to work nicely,

easy to get in, no pain, and it hasnt been squeezed out yet at least

Well my toenails aren't pretty because I keep them longer than most people so I have noticed people, especially Thais, are always staring down at my toes when I'm riding the baht buses. Maybe some are looking for a pedicure gig. In any case, it makes me feel like smacking them. I don't even know their names and they're inspecting a gross personal body part. Buy me a drink first! Stare into your PHONE like a normal person!

ahem.. a friend of mine kept talking about the feet of the gogo girls for so many times and for so long time

so now i have this warped habit myself when-ever i see a girl, any girl, any where

I don't know how to use floss for this. I know I didn't use floss. Maybe someone else can advise.

Also you need to keep things clean, change whatever thing you're using often, and watch for infection.

can you specify how many times a day and how many month to end this shit ?

also i found straight clipper on aliexpress,

    i hope

    So sandals are out?

alright, i bought dental floss, should i just

wind it back and forth layer upon layer until suitable thickness

and then saw it in ?

do i take a scissor and cut off on the sides and then just hope the stuff stays there ?

I solved this problem with both of my big toes years. I think I used pieces of cotton balls rolled up but I'm not sure about that. This article mentions waxed dental floss. You need to change the material often anyway. This process took me months to be sure it was really going to work. Make sure you cut all toenails with a STRAIGHT edged cutter. Soaking your feet in warm water with Epsom salt is helpful but good luck finding Epsom salt in Thailand. Pharmacies won't have it but some Chinese traditional medicine shops will.

how did you make the material stay put under the nail ?

i have unfortunately precious little patience with this shit.

We do not understand the effects different diets have on our health nearly as well as we think we do.

People wont admit that, but it is the truth.

If twins were brought up, one of them eating a "proper" three square meals a day, never miss a meal, grains starch, proteins. If he ate exactly what we have been told to eat. Then the other twin ate pizza with sardines on it, drank wine, and had a lettuce and tomatoe salad with olive oil on it everyday, but fasted in between meals... we have no idea who would be healthier when they reached old age. We think we know, but the people who thought the earth was flat thought they knew too.

We do not know what a good diet is. We don't know if what we eat is more important than when and how often we eat. In fact, much of the current research is beginning to point at when and how often we eat being more important.

Our bodies evolved going through periods of frequent starvation. So, do you think every single time you feel a little hungry it is "healthy" to stuff your face with "good" foods? That is actually what people think, but it is not the truth. Just because you eat "good" food, that does not have to help you much if you do not control the when and how often you eat it.

And notice, nobody ever brings up when and how often we eat. That is because people want to eat when they get hungry. They have totally blocked out the fact that when they eat could be as important as what. But what we eat gets 100% of the attention. It proves our absolute ignorance. And even if we did know "the proper diet" how on earth would it apply to every single living human, as if there is no variation.

disagree, i think a steady supply of protein

is going to give the guy that ate protein daily

a better muscle to fat ratio.

i also think an over consumption of

rice at the cost of meat, as is common in asia cuisine, is a cause of diabetes

  11. i dont think you can find one single smoker above 40

that doesnt regard it as one of the dumbest habits they ever picked up, and its difficult to stop,

and even after you stopped there are pitfalls ahead
