2. a British man has been sentenced to 18 years and 9 months in prison for ATM fraud.

    :o

it might seem a bit harsh to those of you who have become used to the uk system of mostly non custodial sentencing , even for burglary and robbery, and the early release from prison of those actually sentenced , but the fact is these toerags wont be commiting crimes for the next 18 years and that is exactly how it should be.

nobody forced these two to go to prison , they made their own choices to commit crime in thailand.

if they had had any sense they would have gone thieving in the uk ..... they would have been out by christmas and free to do it all over again.

they should have got another 19 years for stupidity.

the public are really much better off with dumbfukc lowlives like this thrown into dungeons and forgotten about.

  3. Red Bull was invented by an Austrian who worked for Unilever. So not much Japanese is it?

    check your facts.

its based on a japanese energy drink (lipovitan) that was copied by the thais (krating daeng) and then adapted by the austrian for european tastes (red bull)

  4. Red Bull was inspired by an energy drink from Thailand called Krating Daeng.

which was copied from lipovitan , which was originally produced in japan.

    Krating Daeng

    From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

    Jump to: navigation, search

Bottle of Krating DaengNilk: The drink to potent to market. (Thai: กระทิงแดง) is a very sweet, non-carbonated energy drink. The drink is mostly sold in Asia but can be found in Australia where it is sometimes renamed "Thai Red Bull". [1]

The recipe is based on Lipovitan, an earlier energy drink that had been introduced to Thailand from Japan. Krating Daeng sales soared across Asia in the 1970s and 1980s, especially among truck drivers, construction workers and farmers. Truck drivers used to drink it to stay awake during the long late night drive. The working class image was boosted by sponsorship of Thai boxing matches, where the logo of two red bulls charging each other was often on display. While often translated as "Red Bull", the Thai name krating actually refers to the bull-like bovine gaur.

The Thai product was transformed into a global brand by Dietrich Mateschitz, an Austrian entrepreneur [2]. Mateschitz was international marketing director for Blendax, a German toothpaste company, when he visited Thailand in 1982 and discovered that Krating Daeng helped to cure his jet lag.[3]. He cooperated with T.C Pharmaceuticals, adapted the formula and composition to western tastes and launched Red Bull in 1987.

Objectives: To determine the prevalence and types of penile modification and describe the circumstances surrounding this practice among a sample of young methamphetamine users in Thailand.

Methods: A mixed methods study was conducted in Chiang Mai, Thailand, in 2005–6. One hundred young men were surveyed for the quantitative study and in-depth interviews were administered to 9 men, 11 women and 1 transgender.

Results: The prevalence of penile modification was 51%, with the most common type being inlaying with muk(s) (61%). The majority of modifications were performed in prison or juvenile detention (80%) by a friend (90%). Motivations for penile modification included peer pressure and perceived enhanced female sexual pleasure. In prison, the practice was veiled in secrecy, the conditions under which modification was performed were unhygienic, sometimes leading to infection, and sharing equipment was common. Men and women reported that condom use was more difficult post modification as condoms were more likely to break or leak and less likely to fit correctly. In addition, sexual intercourse was often painful for the female partner.

Conclusion: Penile modification is prevalent in this group of young methamphetamine users and is associated with behaviours and consequences that could facilitate the spread of HIV and other sexually transmitted infections.

  6. Family who are 'too fat to work' say £22,000 worth of benefits is not enough

A family of four with a combined weight of 83 stone say they are "too fat to work" and need more than the £22,000 they currently receive in benefits.

The family from Blackburn claim £22,508 a year in benefits, equivalent to the take-home pay from a £30,000 salary.

The Chawners, haven't worked in 11 years, claim their weight is a hereditary condition and the money they receive is insufficient to live on.

Mr Chawner said: "What we get barely covers the bills and puts food on the table. It's not our fault we can't work. We deserve more."

The family claim to spend £50 a week on food and consume 3,000 calories each a day. The recommended maximum intake is 2,000 for women and 2,500 for men.

"We have cereal for breakfast, bacon butties for lunch and microwave pies with mashed potato or chips for dinner," Mrs Chawner told Closer magazine.

"All that healthy food, like fruit and veg, is too expensive. We're fat because it's in our genes. Our whole family is overweight," she added.

Each week, Mr and Mrs Chawner, who have been married for 23 years, receive £177 in income support and incapacity benefit. Mrs Chawner is paid an extra £330-a-month disability allowance for epilepsy and asthma, both a result of being overweight.

Mr Chawner gets £71 a month after developing Type 2 diabetes because of his size. He was on a waiting list for a gastric band last year, but a heart condition made the operation unsuitable. Their daughter Samantha receives £84 in Jobseekers' Allowance each fortnight while Emma, who is training to be a hairdresser, gets £58 every two weeks under a hardship fund for low-income students.

Emma, said: "I'm a student and don't have time to exercise" she said "We all want to lose weight to stop the abuse we get in the street.

  7. You started well guys a few years ago but then the game plan changed and financial gain overtook your conscience and professionalism

that applies to many other forums as well.

the hua hin forum you refer to is not much good for anything now , its mostly subsidised by real estate interests and given the small size of hua hin and the reputation and incestuousness of the hua hin real estate business , i would think the forum owners are not so much afraid of the law of libel , but the law of the jungle.

the hua hin real estate business is , for the most part , run by small people trying to be big people.

if it wasnt for the violence and skullduggery , it would be laughable.

there is no shortage of honest locals willing to sell land and property , it really isnt necessary to have to do business with any of these foreign run outfits , unless , that is , you feel you have to live in one of their toytown ghettos.

  8. A spokeswoman for the Crown Prosecution Service in South Yorkshire said: "It was not possible to extradite him from Thailand. If Oxley was to enter the country, there is nothing to stop us restarting the case as the evidence that would be used in the prosecution case still exists."

A South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: "Oxley fled to Thailand. Subsequent extradition proceedings by the Crown Prosecution service were not successful."

normally the police here are only too happy to co-operate with outside agencies in order to extradite , or at least detain wanted persons.

A warrant for Oxley's arrest was issued at Sheffield Crown Court in 2002 when he failed to turn up to be sentenced but, even though officers tracked him down to Thailand, they failed to get him extradited and closed the case

it would seem that oxley was very well connected here and that the police were unwilling to co-operate with the uk police.....it is also shameful that the uk police closed the case so readily , a case closed removes it from the unsolved cases list and helps police attain government set targets.

postings on another topic say that oxley is now back in hua hin and openly conducting business.

unfortunately , thats how the world seems to work these days.

    truth and justice , rip.

  9. coming out of hua hin , turn left through the temple archway by the toyota dealership , go up that soi , over the railway , up to the canal road , cross the canal road and veer right into the village of bo fai , through the village ,past the temple and turn right , there are signs for the shooting range which is about 200 metres further on the right.

you can rent a gun, buy some bullets and fire away , or they will give you instruction if you prefer. they have a competitive shooting club.

    friendly people. no english spoken.

  10. all the original settings are unchanged , the wan settings are configured to pppoe , whatever that is , and there is no wan ip address , i think it obtains one each time i connect.

the tools/ test page shows an lan connection , but a failed adsl synch. and no pings.

i think i will have to wait until monday now as tot services close at weekends.

  11. when you login to the modem what does the status page say about the ADSL link ?

cant connect. ...or something to that effect.

Check it yourself by taking the connector out of the splitter (line from the wall!)

still no adsl light or internet.

  12. d-link non wireless modem , been using it without any problems now for 3 years to connect to a TOT adsl 100mbps line.

a couple of days ago i lost the connection , the phone still works ok , but i could not connect to the net.

the adsl light on the modem is not on , although the other lights are ok (ethernet , power, status)

the computer connects to the modem ok , ( the toolbar icon registers as connected to tot , but i cannot get into the net.)

all the values used to set up the modem are still in the little boxes on the set up pages and i can connect to the net just fine using the condo wireless network.

the fault has been reported to tot , but i have had no response from them yet.

is this a modem problem or a tot adsl problem ?

any ideas , suggestions or cures will be welcome.

    thanks.

  13. even if the associated leases have to be paid by foreign residents.

....... you mean a top up payment for everybody when renewing visas etc. sound like a good little earner for the boys and girls at immigration.

not a good precedent at all.

there are dozens of empty offices and commercial properties in hua hin , affordable to thai businesses etc.

there are even empty rooms in the tessaban building.

how come immigration cant find one.

  14. class has little to do with wealth or education , (having those can go a long way in covering up a lack of class ) , and all to do with how you conduct yourself in life.

honesty , integrity , a sense of responsibility and the ability and willingness to "do the right thing" are signs of class to me.
