Interesting subject. Thai people I know like to say how much they paid for something. Where I come from its more like how cheap I bought something, how much I saved. Different culture, different values, unsurprisingly. I formed the opinion that if something can't be sold or eaten, there is no intrinsic value in it for a Thai person. I recall, many years ago, buying my wife a rose from a road side vendor on Valentine's day in Australia. The look on her face was priceless. I could just about hear the cogs in her head whirring away....what's this? I can't eat it and nobody will buy a second hand flower. She's changed over the years and loves going to secondhand shops looking for bargains.
