From what I can see Wikipedia is viewed as being above the common social media sites. I think the difference is that people are now taking Wikipedia as a source of facts. Sadly the younger generation only really have the internet to find information, and that information can be very biased one way or the other. Often see quotes from Wikipedia used to prove a point. I often wonder how many people under 40 have been to a library. Or read any books at all.

Wikipedia is basically a collection of opinions and whatever someone decides might be a fact. Pretty well anyone can add their ' facts'. It's a bit like AI responses, no guarantee they are truthful. Google shows AI response may contain errors in the fine print below the response. Cannot rely on it for absolute truth. Look at number of times something is added with the comment ' citation needed'. Encyclopaedia Britannica it is not.
